Primarily Palms Read since that's the video, hah. I'd love to see Wretch though.
|
Oh yeah, they'd have to do Palms Read now. Wretch would be badass.
I'd like to hear Bone Marrow too since it's my favourite on the album. I think I might have seen them say in an interview they can't do it properly live, though. |
One more day until I pop my PtH live cherry!
|
Bone Marrow would be hard because of all the synths. It'd feel like a totally different song.

Because Tim can't very well play guitar and keyboards at the same time.

It seems like they're trying to be technical for the sake of it on fortress. They aren't the kind of band that should be trying to be like (insert good tech. metal band) |

Why shouldn't they? They are as good as most guitarists out there and it fits the music. |
I didn't think there was much technical wankery on Fortress. The techy bits pretty much serve the songs.
|
Exactly.

Ok so I saw Protest The Hero last night for the first time. I'll give you the quick run down:
When I first got there I saw Rody hiding behind a box at the merch table. A random guy came up to him and told him he had to stay low because there were lots of fanboys nearby. I found this amusing. I also saw Arif talking to some people and getting his picture taken with people, which I thought was cool. I'm glad they are getting a big following. I'll save my opinions about the other bands for the deathcore and metalcore threads. I was pretty close to the front of the stage with my brother in law and his...well whatever she is, female friend I guess. She has been into PtH for years and years and was totally geeking out and wanted me to take some pictures for her since I'm very tall. I took her camera and waited for the band to come out. Once they came out I decided to take a buttload of pictures and video during the first song so I could give the camera back to her and enjoy the rest of the show, so that's what I did. The second song was Bloodmeat, which I effin love, so I ran all the way to the front and started jumping around etc and having a good time. They performed very well, though they can't be ridiculously energetic due to the complexity of the songs. Rody and Arif were the most fun to watch cause they got to goof around a bit more. Rody talked about National Bohemian beer, which is a staple of Baltimore/Maryland, I think he called it Baltimore Piss Water or something like that. He asked what we called it cause he couldn't remember and we all yelled out "Natty Bo!" which I found amusing as well. He also talked about how he likes to rub the mic stand against his penis while he performs and that we would all do it too but just wouldn't tell anybody. Like I said they all performed very well and it was great to watch the guitarists and Arif do all that crazy stuff like 10 feet in front of me, they are all very talented. They closed with Sequoia Throne, which was awesome. I then headed over to the merch table and waited a minute for them to reopen it. I proceeded to buy two t-shirts and a kick@$$ track jacket. This was very exciting for me cause I'm a real merch junkie. I'm a little upset though cause I forgot to grab a poster, which is free with any purchase, but ah well. After the show I met my brother outside who had 200 copies of our FUA cd for free distribution. We handed out most of them, and most people were very happy to take them. We chatted with a couple people who were doing promotions for other upcoming shows, which was cool. I then noticed Rody walking towards us, so I grabbed a cd and walked towards him, hoping that I didn't end up looking like a complete idiot to the guy. I asked if I could trouble him for a cd and gave him one. I then asked if he would actually listen to it, which in hindsight I probably sounded like a jerk, but he was really cool and said enthusiastically that he would listen to it. I told him that I'm a big fan and shook his hand. He then said "I see you're wearing a Misery Signals shirt. 2 or those guys are from Canada!" I told him that I had read about that and that I like a lot of Canadian bands. I brought up that a lot of big death metal bands are coming out of Canada like Despised Icon and Beneath The Massacre. We talked about the fact that they are French Canadian and that Rody didn't have the strong accent like those guys do. He then said something to me in French, which I don't remotely speak and I just laughed cause he could've been calling me a douche or something. After that I told him that it was nice meeting him and shook his hand again and went on my way. Overall it was a great show and I had an awesome time. |
sounds awesome dimmu
2 years of french and i know that douche means shower, thats pretty much all i know actually |
lol! That makes sense!
|
Makes me want to see them even more now tbh :\
I need a lift down to sheffield tho as my mate who mainly goes to gigs with me I reckon is gunna bail for me for, wait for it, a new world of warcraft expansion pack. Unbelievable |

It's been a **** year but that's still 2 of my favourites bands of all time really ! |
this sucks. for some reason i'm completely bored of this band already. Fortress went from being a 4/4.5 album to a 1. meh. i really want to like them too.
|
I think they have really good staying power. I'm surprised to read that FiveLives.
|
I've listened to them excessively since Fortress's release, but less recently, but I enjoy it
|

Total opposite for me. They were like a one hit wonder for me and I got really tired of all the hooks and whatnot. There's just nothing more to the music than there was when I first heard them |
Yeah they're not incredibly layered or anything, but I still like it. I'm really good at not playing things out though.
