It don't get no better than that.
I disagree with every one of them, except the second last one. Everyone must agree on the fact that 'Scarred'>every piece of music ever written.

Anyway, what about "Teh fred that pwned dem all".
Dream Theatre...?

I'm sorry, but I am very sick of people worshipping Dream Theater. They play in odd time signatures that simply have nothing to do with the sacred Geometry they supposedly espouse. All my recorded material is based on mathmatical structures that have proven themselves through eons.

Their supposed use of art as a communcation of the collective unconcious is simply elementary rambling. Freud would spit on them given the opportunity.

On a more basic level, their grasp of modality is, quite frankly, lacking. They rely on the standards set forth by musicians from hundreds of years ago. By that i mean, the concept of a 12 tone music system. It is insulting that they continue to push the tradition that music comprises only these notes, indian music for example, has many many more possibilites for melodic invention. To say that they are truly on the forefront of music, is, with all due respect, comment dit-on disheartening.

I am from Quebec, excuse my poor english.

Making such a 'important' first post, must mean one of two things...

Either you could be the greatest MXer of all time with the 'talent' to turn the forum around for the better

or...

Your just full of ****.

How I know the noobs.....Guess what my choice is.

Darkness 09-03-2005 06:12 PM

... We just enjoy Dream Theaters music, the way it sounds. Who cares about all that other stuff... the music sounds good. End of story.

DirtyQuebec6969 09-03-2005 06:20 PM

Except it doesn't, obviously. How can you justify listening to Dream Theatre when everything they base their music on is a lie? Supposedly progressive, they can hardly be called anything but regressive. Obscurity does not indicate virtuosity, let alone quality.

Go listen to something like Death Cab for Cutie if all you enjoy is the immediate sonic qualities, and not their underlying foundations.

Are you sure you didn't mean to put this in the Tool thread? I don't recall Dream Theater ever mentioning the collective unconscious nor any sacred geometry that they supposedly espouse. If this is a joke, it's actually kinda' funny. If this isn't a joke, just leave this thread and hang out in the pit.

I have come to a conclusion

Misunderstood is my favourite track on 6DOIT

it's awesome...

and I really haven't posted here in a while

Darkness 09-03-2005 07:14 PM

Yeah this would relate to Tool more then Dream Theater... but its still pretty stupid.

I really like that song a lot! I love the part where Labrie is like "From a thief to a beggar, from a God to God save me!" and than it gets hard for the chorus. So awesome. It's probably my favorite song on there too.
Yeah this would relate to Tool more then Dream Theater... but its still pretty stupid.
Yeah, I wouldn't say it's true for Tool either, I'm just saying that that seems like an argument some pretentious ******* would use against Tool.

MAthiAS 09-03-2005 07:36 PM

The feedback before the chorus is the best part of Misunderstood.

Misunderstood = Blind Faith > The Great Debate > The Glass Prison

Misunderstood > Blind Faith > The Glass Prison = Disappear > The Great Debate

I really don't like TGD. Maybe, it's because I'm a big Tool fan and that song is so "inspired" by them that I just can't listen to it. It's really not a bad song, just I wish they were a bit more original with that one.

pieisgood19 09-03-2005 07:47 PM

Dream theater is defiently a good band with talented musicians. I like the song "in the name of god" overall.

Darkness 09-03-2005 07:59 PM

I love all the songs on that cd, and TGD is one of my favorites.

It's an awesome cd. I'm just saying, TGD borrows a little too much at times.

We did something like that a few pages back actually. :p

Petary791 09-03-2005 10:57 PM

IMO, Dream Theater is one of the most talented bands to ever live, if not the most talented.

Racer X > Dream Theater

Darkness 09-03-2005 11:30 PM

Racer X is awesome... its to bad their not talked about more often.

vashts80 09-03-2005 11:42 PM

A lot of people like to do "Symphony X vs. Dream Theater", when neither band is alike besides the common factors of virtuosity, and Russel and LaBrie have similar vocal styles :(

Darkness 09-03-2005 11:43 PM

I greatly prefer Dream Theater. Symphony X annoys me for some reason.

adioviva 09-03-2005 11:44 PM
Racer X is awesome... its to bad their not talked about more often.
Is that like speed racer? :amaze:

Darkness 09-03-2005 11:47 PM

No, its an older prog rock band. Their very good, and Paul Gilbert is an awesome guitar player.

adioviva 09-03-2005 11:50 PM

Is he as good as jerry garcia?

MAthiAS 09-03-2005 11:50 PM

Gilbert >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Petrucci

adioviva 09-03-2005 11:51 PM

<<<<<<<<<<<<<Garcia?

please clarify
