I voted Duane this round.

Woodstock 03-20-2005 07:10 PM

Yes, Cropper got his start as a session guitarist with Booker T. Duck Dunn was supposed to be a guitarist also, but he claimed that there were too many strings, and went to bass.

WOOT 1000th POST!

and it had to be here, no other thread would suffice. And i must thank u guys, cuz this thread is prob the reason i'm still a member of mx after the drums and percussion forum became more devoted to trashing travis barker than discussing tough stuff to play...

It's been a blast guys!

B0nz0 03-20-2005 07:12 PM
steve cropper played with booker t and the mg's as well. i believe thats where hes most well known.

billy corgan is indeed from the smashing pumpkins though why hes up there, i dont know.

buckethead started in praxis with bernie worrell and bootsy collins as well as having a long solo career. he challenges vai for technical talent (people thought he was vai in disguise actually), more versatile than any of the others in the poll, and extremely creative. sorely underrated and underknown because of his eccentricity in his music. people always think of him as a slash rip off ever since gnr.
could u post some bucket head recordings? sadly i don't really know any of his stuff

BludgeonySteve 03-20-2005 07:14 PM

he's a mindless shredder. But he has giant fingers so it's funny.

o he's one of those types. ok then i prob wouldn't like him so much, although i do like vai, who is kinda the same mold...

Post your FG. Everyone make sure he gets this please. I think most of you will like his.

Hi Classic Rock. I'll probably never come in here again but our time was nice while it lasted.

pigonthewing82 03-20-2005 07:25 PM
Oh, and pigsonthewing82, what about Within You, Without You? What role those that song play on the Billy Shears story?
With You With Out You was written by Harrison so I don't think it has anything to do with it. I agree that they probally didn't do what Townsend or Waters did and wrote a story, but I think Paul and John had a bunch of songs written that they found when put in an order they fit. I probally am thinking to much into it, but thats just the way I think of the album.

Same here. Congrats on 1000. This thread is the life and soul of R&M, unlike the midless posting i used to do in the community thread.

D&P boards get so boring after the first few months their. Now i only go their every once in a while to answer some recent questions, though i get 0 recognition for my articles and help...except for the endless IMs from n00bs asking me what sets to buy.

I never thanked you for starting this thread either dude :thumb: . It really has impacted the way hundreds of people listened to music and expanded their horizons...if you want to think of it as a spiritual deal...or whatever...

but that show yesterday on the rocknroll hall of fame was awsome with clapton, b.b. king, and buddy guy all performing. Priceless
congrats to u as well!
 Yeah but I think the fact you've been a member a year longer then says a lot about how little of a life I have

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 03-20-2005 07:34 PM

Where is guitarguy? I haven't seen him in like 2 months.

Ive got a month on you and you got 100 post on me...but all twice as useful. I always feel like such a stupid n00b compared to you in the same threads i post in.

Way to crush my dignity :upset:

Congrats to you on 1000 to. Your by far my favorite n00b here. :)

wow thanks so much... i never thought my thread influenced peoples music, but i guess it did. D&P got really boring. it used to be better when ppl would post solos and explain difficult fills and techniques. now it's all what equiptment should i buy and how do you tune your drums and travis barker is a **** *** **** **** ******* *****.

i'm pissed i missed the r&r hall of fame show. who else performed?

Broken Arrow 03-20-2005 07:49 PM

Wow Neil can't be beaten by Buckethead. He just can't. He's one behind.
Where is guitarguy? I haven't seen him in like 2 months.
I was just thinking about that the other day. Where in the world is Guitrguy?

B0nz0, this thread has influenced my musical tastes and also expanded my knowledge of music so much.

Neil Young is twice the musician Buckethead is.

Good.

Med voted Neil??

Anyways I gave props to Steve Cropper ans Peter Frampton for even making it there.

funkybeeatch14 03-20-2005 08:03 PM

What about Derek Trucks? He's one of the most talented guitarists I've ever seen play.

i'm really touched that this thread influenced your music, although i can't claim credit for all that. most of it is thanks to you guys. my music has actually been influenced by this thread, most noteably i would like to thank badmoon for opening me up to more obscure bands. thanks badmoon.

and neil young had best be winning
he's a mindless shredder. But he has giant fingers so it's funny.
Buckethead? Um, no he's not...like at all.

pigonthewing82 03-20-2005 08:14 PM

I think Robert Jonson should win. With out him rock be very differet. His influence is more then any other I can think of.

superdigg 03-20-2005 08:21 PM

i love classic rock! haven't heard much out of those lesser known bands, but i'm reeeally digging cream, ccr, eric clapton solo work, zeppelin, and a ton of other bands that i don't want to mention because i'm not sure if they count as classic, lol.

classic rock isn't really getting popular where i live, most people still like rap.

B0nz0 03-20-2005 08:24 PM

we haven't discussed much of the really big name classic rock bands in a while. just an observation i made when i went back and reread the first 6 pages of this thread, where we seemed to all talk about the bealtes, led zep, pink floyd, the who, etc.

MalcolmYoungRock 03-20-2005 08:26 PM

/me goes saves Neil Young

Buckethead's not gonna beat Neil

Anyyyywaaaaaaaaaay

I missed the Rock and Roll performance too.

Can someone just sum up who performed what and who was inducted?

Broken Arrow 03-20-2005 08:26 PM

Probably because 3 of those 4 bands have official threads with over 1000 posts each.
