Evening guys.
And would you mind bulking up your post a bit?
Hello/good bye/ Evenin' posts are generally frowned upon.

I'm sorry to keep going on about it, but if everyone doesn't follow the rules that 'Tender set out then there won't be a community thread.
Yep, I had a drip. Here's the story on that. I go to get my IV done in my LEFT hand. The nurse sticks me in a weird place...almost on top of my wrist. She keeps pushing it in and I jerk because she hits a nerve. Apparently, the needle pierced the vein and so there's blood bubbling up under my skin because the tourniquet is still on. So she tries to do the right hand, and manages. After spilling quite a lot of blood; I'm gusher. So that's all sore and everything. Next day, I'm in bed and I move my right hand and feel a twinge. Somehow, the IV had bent and had to be removed. That's where the nurse (didn't like her too much) decided to try to give me an IV in the crook of my left elbow. She poked me once and it didn't work. She hit the vein, but when she tried taking the needle out, the whole thing popped out. Then she just goes "oh, let me try again" and attempts to stick the same vein! Well, obviously, it shrivels up, so she tries the vein next to it. Didn't work. So she finally runs to get another nurse to do it, who stuck it in the side of my let wrist and tapes/glues it to a board. Yep.
Jesus, that's brutal.

GurS 08-16-2005 03:31 PM

So today started of pretty **** sucky (my psychotherapist had even more bad news today :()

But the day got better around 5 pm - got a new guitar

An electro-acoustic :)

This means a happy Gur, meaning my folk compostitions can take a step forward.

Ugh, that really stinks Leah. That nurse sounded really f-ing inept.

Kind of reminds me of my ****ty health services department at uni. I went to them thinking I had the flu, to get these weird rashes checked out, and "they weren't making appointments that day" so I had to wait. After an hour and a half with three of the five people still waiting, I left. I didn't find out that I had mono until three weeks after I got home, and I was pretty pissed. I mean, your spleen swells up during mono and if it bursts, you're in some serious shit. That's the kind of thing that should have been diagnosed, and wasn't because health services was a piece of shit.

Kage 08-16-2005 03:38 PM

I've had mono three times now, and I just realized it a few weeks ago. :-\

Yikes! That sounds horrible. Hospitals are stupid. I'm serious. Here I am with pneumonia, sitting in a freezing (I mean, ice box freezing) room while waiting for a nurse. My temp was jacked up to...104.6.
Next time you get sick just film it. It will save us all a lot of writing.
I've never thought about that. Probably would be interesting to say the least. Showing how fucking stupid hospital nurses really are...
/long story that involves going to the hospital and blood flying everywhere
pix? :p

But seriously, glad to know that you're okay (well, relatively speaking :-\)

Sounds like your doctors and nurses were butchers, though...when I had to go to the hospital to have my appendix removed I went through a similar experience. I had TWO rectal exams (TWO! because apparently the guy who did the first one wasn't sure), I fell out of the fvcking bed when they were wheeling me in to the OR because they slammed it into a wall, and they kept sticking IVs in the wrong places. And when I needed an ultrasound of my intestines (or something like that, it was an x-ray to show how inflamed my appendix was) they made me lightheaded for it (they injected me with something that made my intestines show up more, or something) and then made me walk without any assistance back to my room to wait for the surgeons. So uh...not good.

Shaft! 08-16-2005 04:37 PM

I just worked in a hospital this past summer. Our staff aren't the butchers, however. The butchers are at the Medical University of South Carolina. I only call them that because they took my mum's leg, hand, fingers, and toes.
I won't blame them though. Best they get rid of the dead limbs and appendages than the whole person dying.
Illmatic, I amazed that the lights in your room didn't fall down and electrocute you while you were there. Sounds like a level of Hell...

Jom, I'll do Fantasy Football! :D

Heh, I had to serve cigarettes at work for the first time ever. Most hilarious thing. Basically, I have no clue about brands/strengths/slang words, so I was probably coming off as inept. Anyways, the Aussie government changed the legislation for naming cigarette strengths, since "Mild", "Extra Light" etc were deemed misleading.

So, now we have "Smooth", "Rich" etc. However, people still refer to them by their old names.

Sample convos:

"Hey, mate, can you get me a pack of Winfield Blue"
/me searches for a minute
/me grabs packet
"Thanks, mate"

---------------------
"Hey, can I have PJ Super Milds 25s please?"
"Ah, can you tell me what colour they are, I'm new at this"
"They're Super Milds for Christ's sake!"
"Ok... what name are they called now"
"Jesus, are you stupid? They're called Smooths now!"
"Sorry, I'm new at this"
"Fancy training you on a busy night. What have you been working here, two days?"
"Actually I've been here coming on 5 years"
*customer mutters expletives"

---------
"Chay, mate, can you give me the cheapest durries you got?"
"Ah, ok..."
/me grabs random packet

-------
"Can I have Horizon 30s"
"What type, sir?"
"30s!"
"Ah... what flavour?"
"Horizons!"
/me grabs Reds
"I wanted Sky Blue. Christ!"

As you can see, smokers need to die.

I'm not looking forward to that, should I work at a convenience store next year.

At the record store where I used to work and where I currently kind of work, the worst I have to deal with are the elitists and the Berklee students (which is redundant, I know), and the 60 year old jazz and classical music nuts who complain about the music we have playing.

I will also participate in this as well, if you don't mind.

Also smokers suck. For the most part they are inconsiderate assholes at concerts and various other public places only thinking about their habit and not the other people around them dealing with it.

Grrrr, smokers piss me off in many ways.

I now have Trivium, In Flames and Shadows Fall autographs from the concert I went to last week. I also have a pic I caught from Bjorn from In Flames signed as well. Hurrah!

Seeing that all of the spam is getting tedious and seeing that everyone is joining in I might as well help out as well :).

Illmatic 08-16-2005 06:14 PM

If I was a celebrity, I would hate signing autographs because it's all so dumb...some random stranger shoves something in your face and you sign it, and then he leaves. It's all very pointless and you don't even have to care all that much about fans to do it.

I don't like bugging athletes or musicians about autographs because I know neither party involved really cares about the whole process.

BoboTheRagingHobo 08-16-2005 06:14 PM
Bobo...you took the tech-death side

I took new school and tech death side. so Cryptopsy for me!

I don't consider Cryptopsy old school, and old school death metal beyond Immolation, Morbid Angel and Death is boring to me with the crap production. Unless I am missing key things, but I cannot stand the guitar and bass to be drowned out by drums and vocals only proceeding to make the songs all sound the same and riffless.

Just my opinion, but Cryptopsy songs actually sound different!

And autographs are my only chance to really tell them I appreciate their music by actually saying something to them personally and such. So meh.

Lord Abortion 08-16-2005 06:23 PM

hmm...Cryptopsy is inbetween I'd say
older stuff is more old-school, but newer is different- like Death

A lot of people aren't like that, though...there are tons of autograph-seekers who don't even want to interact with the autographer on any level...I just don't understand that.
