Jev 04-03-2006 09:41 AM

Tell Lars that.

Maybe because it's stealing and they're against having their music stolen. Some bands don't mind people having their music for free, other bands like Metallica do.

metalhead_matt 04-03-2006 10:30 AM

its fair enough, people should pay for other peoples creativity
rather like a whore

Jev 04-03-2006 10:33 AM

Yeah except you don't catch AIDS off music.

Joe 04-03-2006 02:00 PM

That was a cool video, of Blackened, Horsemen, and HoS.

When are they going to announce the Escape from the Studios for a US show? Specifically near me?

Soul_Under_Arrest 04-03-2006 02:40 PM

No it's not about downloading it was about their music being stolen before they had even finished the song (I Disappear). Lars has said he has no problem with downloading because he himself is an iTunes member.

ever eeking always rupert 04-03-2006 03:02 PM

I wouldn't agree with Lars on all this if he had been told, let alone asked for his music to be taken for free by anyone. People around the world took his music, without his permission, for absolutely nothing. I'd be pretty pissed if I were him.

Thor 04-03-2006 03:03 PM

Oh man my Metallica myspace was deleted in no less than a DAY because I put up songs for people to add to their profiles.

Damn you, Metallica.

PepsiMetal 04-03-2006 03:40 PM

Haha, ouch.

Soul_Under_Arrest 04-03-2006 04:05 PM

I don't meant to alugh but haha. I know Black Label Society has one. It's the link is on this guy's site.

willis2441 04-03-2006 08:21 PM

lars is a little bitch,if you ask him a question he pretty much answers you with another question that hardly makes sense,at least thats what i got out of SKOM

Joe 04-03-2006 08:23 PM

I remember you! Man, it's been awhile!

Yes, Lars is quite annoying.

I was watching that video posted on the previous page and it amazes me how fast Kirk and James can pick.

willis2441 04-03-2006 08:29 PM

what happened to gocapps99?lol
yea theyre both amazing at guitar

Soul_Under_Arrest 04-03-2006 08:31 PM

Yeah James is insane with his down picking. If I remember correct he can do something like 250 bpm

willis2441 04-03-2006 08:32 PM

poop!

Joe 04-03-2006 08:34 PM

Yea, which is absolutely incredible. I played (on the radio) Battery for my friend (the best guitarist I personally know) and he was absolutely amazed when I said it was all downpicked.

So 250? How fast for alt.?

I got rid of gocaps99 monthes ago!

Chu 04-03-2006 08:35 PM

James downpicks Battery!?

What a waste imo. That song sounds so much better alt. picked, at least for me...

Soul_Under_Arrest 04-03-2006 08:37 PM

James Gallop Picks Battery. Most other things are downpicked. Down picking makes it sound heavier.

250 bpm = 250 beats per minute with down picking which is extremely fast and insane.

Joe 04-03-2006 08:39 PM
James downpicks Battery!?

Yes he does, at least I'm fairly sure. That's what I've heard. Along with most of MOP.

It sounds pretty awesome alt. picked too. I can't do either :upset:
The Battery riff is in such a not-common beat it's tough for me to get. I always end up like this

E-0-000-000--

instead of

E-000-000-- followed by the chords.
250 bpm = 250 beats per minute with down picking which is extremely fast and insane.
I know that, but I was asking how fast his alt. picking is.

I've also heard he gallop picks it. I don't know how to do that...

why?
james is really insane with his downpicking,
he plays drums and bass too

I was sick of it. I like being called Joe better.

He's awesome at drums. He shows off quite a bit on one of the B&P shows

i heard he drum battled lars during the black album tour and beat him

Joe 04-03-2006 08:43 PM

Yea, I don't know about beating him because I'm pretty sure Lars would deny it. And aren't the Binge and Purge shows from the Black Album tour?

If I don't post anywhere else I think my 7,000th post will be my 2,000th in here...

Chu 04-03-2006 08:44 PM

Your first version is right though?

It's like:
D-5------------------------
A-7--------887-------------
E--000-000-665-0-000-000-- etc...

Isn't it? I dunno, I just play it like that, if you can work it out?

It's great for learning alt. picking, I play that every day (I don't think I'm quite up to speed yet, but I'm close) just to improve alt. picking :D

Edit: For Galloping Joe, picture two 16s and an 8th.. Sort of a very fast wrist movement...

daqmn
lars is good now but in KEA he sucked
james had to show him that beat he does in hit the lights
and he does it for like every song lol

Soul_Under_Arrest 04-03-2006 08:46 PM

I don't think James alt. pic much if at all so I couldn't tell you.

But Battery is Gallop Picked. That part where it starts to pick-up with the heaviness and you hear dun-dun-dun-dan-un-an-a it a Gallop picking type of sound because it sound like a horse it running along. It would be very hard (but doable) to down pick Battery if you want to get a good gallop sound.

I have the drum battle between James and Lars but James couldn't keep up with Lars.

Joe 04-03-2006 08:47 PM

I think it's like that without that first Em you play. I think that is just from the end of the intro and it has 2 gallops of 3 open E's then the chords in between.

But yea, my alt picking has gotten so much better. My down picking has improved a ton too. I can almost play half of MoP downpicked totally. I've also learned a lot of Trivium, like Like Light to Flies.

I understand but I don't get why it's called that. Is it something special? Isn't it just down-up-down like alt?

willis2441 04-03-2006 08:49 PM

im a drummer so...yea

Soul_Under_Arrest 04-03-2006 08:50 PM

I believe he does down-down-up or down-down-down-up. I can't remember since I haven't played Battery in forever. I think they call it Gallop Picking because it sounds like a horse.

Joe 04-03-2006 08:51 PM

Well the whole calling it Gallop makes sense because it does. I'll talk to my guitar teacher about it.

I'm going to bed everyone. Talk to you all later

willis2441 04-03-2006 08:52 PM

nite e nite

Chu 04-03-2006 08:54 PM

Try with a normal alt. pick style (i.e. Down-Up-Down), but on the Up stroke, bring the pick up faster, and just lightly touch the string, well you need to strike it, but not very hard, and then really accent your last downpick.

That's how I do it, it sounds right to me, whether it is or not though, I have no clue.

willis2441 04-03-2006 08:58 PM

howmany songs did newsted write or help write?

Chu 04-03-2006 09:00 PM

Well, I know of Blackened and My Friend of Misery, I'm sure there are more...

probly not alot though...

Chu 04-03-2006 09:03 PM

Very true, although both the songs I mentioned (And I'm sure any other Jason helped write  ), were some of the better songs from their respective albums.

i.e. Bass Players > *

PECOAE 04-03-2006 09:46 PM

Battery or One would be my fave Metallica song.

I'm more fond of old school, but the Unforgiven and U II aren't bad songs.

Joe 04-03-2006 10:52 PM

Back, can't sleep.

Those are excellent songs. I think most people would agree with you about liking older Metallica better, but I still like a ton of their new stuff.

Anyways, welcome
