Yeah thats true. Min wage is £3.80 for anyone over 16 and £4.85 for anyone over 18.

Also, a starting high school teacher here earns over £22 k for example, which is about $35 k.

If ANYTHING hardcore is being ruined by elitist pricks who beatdown on kids whove got the heart but not the haircut. Being scene is no longer the cliche'. I mean 90% of us spend our evenings at shows and bucks on records ,all the time chattin bout bands, records, edge or anything else vaguely associated with hardcore. Im pretty sure that makes us 'scenesters'. Unless you want to go with the MTV definition.
You want to start bitching about the 'look' alot of kids are going for? goto a fashion forum.
Unless you want to go the 'cliquey high status nightclub' route and start laying down a dress code at shows, kids dressing like fags, emos, tuff guys, hippies, PUNX,skins,p0rn stars etc is something youre gonna have to deal with.
No one was born hardcore. So what if a kids only knows Comeback Kid and still wears his Taking back sunday hood? I know a dozen kids whove gone from that to whoreing me bands ive never heard of and giving rides to shows in like 6 months, and they still wear their TBS hood (It takes 20x the balls to wear a tbs hood to a heavy hardcore show than a terror shirt.)
And straight Edge? Ive never met ANYONE who Xs up and doesnt know what it means.

to me, the kids that go around beating people because they do drugs(etc) dont know what straight edge stands for, its not about beating people, at first it was about doing something to make you and others lives better, and i dont think punching someone in the face is gonna make their lives better. Im not going against you, just kinda explaining what i meant. So yea, i guess i was wrong in a way by judging people by what they are wearing, but i wasnt completly wrong. You could say its not being ruined, but its not as good as it was.

Yeh, It Kinda went way off of what you said, but I kinda wanted to say it anyway. Im 20 now and its getting clearer every single day that hardcore isnt something im doing as a kid to kill time, Its a lifestyle in the truest sense. Its taught me things that im going to carry with me the rest of my life that pretty much every lost little messed up middle ground kid could do with hearing. And im not gonna be the one stopping them because theyve got a fringe. The thugs and morons just dont get that you cant claim something like hardcore for themselves. You cant make a lifestyle exclusive.

I'm sort of the opposite. I don't live a certain "lifestyle." I am me and nothing me (yes that sounds cheesey). All I know is that I love hardcore; however, it doesn't define me, and I have no idea where I'll be and what I'll be doing in ten years. I know that it is one of the most important things in my life right now and it makes me extremely happy.
