Well, there is a certain saturation point in the number of writeups we can all handle. I'm sure the threads would get much more attention if there were less of them. I'm hoping that the whole 'zomg series' thing was just a giant fad, and that soon, there will only be a few left, Hopefully one of the remaining ones will be yours.
I agree completely. There are some series threads that a really love (Steerpike being one), and show me some geat new bands I've never heard before, but now everyone wants to be cool and do a series, and I'm getting nothing out of some of the threads. I was considering doing a thread or too for a bit, but then I decided it was getting too trendy, and not to many people who read it because there's so many.

Six Foot Revolver 08-15-2005 08:06 PM

Steerpike: I always read your write ups and I usually vote but I haven't really heard of any of the ones on your list so don't know which one I want to get into.

Farmer Jake: This is correct and I only read some series' because other wise I would spend all my MX time reading FAs

kingofdudes: I noticed :p

Edit to Steerpike: I started the friggin' FA series'

Yeah I think you were the first.

Im gonna make a thread soon, but it wont be a series like your guys'.

I need to edit some videos first

It's fine, your thread were good. Not your fault it became a trend. :(

Steerpike 08-15-2005 08:13 PM
Steerpike: I always read your write ups and I usually vote but I haven't really heard of any of the ones on your list so don't know which one I want to get into.
That's one of the reasons I give a little blurb for each band to get everyone's interest piqued.

With The Clarks, several of their songs actually make commentary on culture that is uniquely Pittsburgh.

For Rusted Root, they're a jam band that makes use of West Indies and Carribbean music.

Rata Blanca are an Argentinian power metal band. That's a hook all by itself.

And Peter Gabriel is a true artist not only in his music, but also in the way he transcended anti-music video elitism and showed how an artistic video can compliment an artistic song.
Edit to Steerpike: I started the friggin' FA series'
FA is mod-sanctioned. But, you do deserve some credit for raising the bar on our standards for band write-ups.

:p

Honestly, you were the one who started the idea of a regular series.

Anyone know of any hosting services that has unlimited downloads?

I think rapidshare and megaupload are unlimited.

Kingofdudes 08-15-2005 08:18 PM

I cant use rapidshare unfortunately, due to the fact they have a limit on downloads per user. :-/

Six Foot Revolver 08-15-2005 08:21 PM

uploadhut or whatver it is called has unlimited downloads as well I think

Edit: Can I be the STUF crew producer?

It told me my IP was banned, but now it's letting me use it again.

Speaking of the articles, you have no idea how shocked I was when I come home to find it on a second page without me bumping it.

Speaking of which, you owe me one (1) reply to my MNM thread.

Have you seen Star Wars Episode 3 yet?

I will go give your thread some loving once I return from Halo.

Jom 08-15-2005 08:33 PM
Have you seen Star Wars Episode 3 yet?
Nope. Why do you ask?

EDIT to below: Ooh, cool. Do tell, please :)
Nope. Why do you ask?
Me and some friends synched up a scene in it with a Bob Seger song.

Dr. Jake Destructo 08-15-2005 08:48 PM

STUF Crew Agriculturalist?

:-D

I started another one of my unfinished writeups today. Hopefully I'll actually persist and finish it, unlike the three others I have sitting on my hard drive that are incomplete. :(

I cant remember the song name, but it is in a scene that involves someone getting 3 limbs choppeed off, and catching fire. Its funny how great it works with the scene.

evilmenhavenosongs 08-16-2005 04:19 AM

One day I might copy and paste my thread and post it again when people seem more receptive to it. Or I'll do another one on a different band.

I think I caught some horrific disease and I'm dying. :upset: I can't even swallow without hirrific pain and I'm supposed to be at a party tomorrow night.

GurS 08-16-2005 04:29 AM

Morning guys.

Lord Abortion 08-16-2005 05:44 AM

Gur...you killed the thread

that's the main reason I decided not to do series' I may do a few from time to time, I plan to do a cannibal corpse one in the near future once I talk to med... but I hope that will be an official one, not a random one, Alex- your threads are always good and you seem to be getting through to people

Riva's is excellent always too...however the others lack finesse except the occasional one...

GurS 08-16-2005 05:56 AM

rather than a series, i'm thinking of posting a few essays discussing elements of music, or of certain artists. I'm in the middle of writing two:

Dylan and Cohen: A discursive essay on folk-rock's greatest lyricists.
The lasting legacy of NWOBHM: Where it came from, what it was, and what it's done for the world of music.

Hopefully they'll be good.

Care to let us know when you can remember what song it was? And also give a specific example of it being synced. I'll look into it if you do. :)

Six Foot Revolver 08-16-2005 07:27 AM

Ollie: I always thought that the ones by Moses were great too, there aren't many more than those three that I read. I read yours though Ollie :-*

Gur: Good Morning(Afternoon), The NWOBHM sounds helluva interesting

Jom 08-16-2005 11:08 AM

So, Sin City got released on DVD today

I went and picked it up at Best Buy because my brother needed to get a gift card for some birthday party he has to go to.

There are four or five different covers, featuring two main characters in the story; for example, Rourke/King, Owen/Shellie, Del Toro/Bledel, etc.

But pfft. Why have those when I can have Jessica Alba on mine? :)

Oh yeah, that Bruce Willis dude is on it too. Oh well.

Six Foot Revolver 08-16-2005 11:11 AM

Sin City doesn't come out on DVD here for another month or so I think. I would definately get the Willis/Alba combo as well :)

NJMetalMeister 08-16-2005 11:16 AM

Sin City comes out on DVD in america today, my roommate just got it, and he got the Del Toro/Bledel one, not my first choice, but its his money so whatever.

Cain 08-16-2005 11:16 AM

I need to pick that up. It's been quite a while since I've seen it, and I meant to see it at least once more before it got out of the theaters. Sadly, this was not to be. :(
