Wow nice find :thumb:

I was at Best Buy looking at Box Sets today, Bob Dylan practically has as many box sets as he has Cds. (slight exaggeration)

I picked up the Flying Burrito Brothers Greatest Hits...only listened to half of it though.

Would Iron Maiden be classified by you guys as Classic Rock? I just downloaded Number of the Beast to check them out, and that is one badass song.

Classic metal or just heavy metal.

blue3 03-19-2005 11:46 PM

Heavy metal

pigonthewing82 03-20-2005 12:15 AM

You know after listening to Tommy the the third time today, I must say I think this is the best concept album in rock. Now I love Pink Floyd, and the Wall is brillent, but would it exist without Tommy. Still I think Tommy is better, at least lyrics wise, probally not instrumentally though. I love the Wall, but I feel this is better.

yeah but still...

eh, i own it too. haha.

there are more concept albums in rock than just tommy and the wall. i agree that tommy is brilliant. and comparing it to the wall it does indeed come out on top. however, the wall, i believe, is vastly overrated... many of its songs are sub par, even bordering on irritating (first one to come to mind in that category would be the trial). Granted, there are some great songs (comfortably numb, another brick in the wall, mother, run like hell, hey you), which are absolutely fantastic, but i think the wall as a whole is not as solid as many other great classic rock albums of the day...
other great concept albums more worthy to compare to tommy are:
The Beatles - Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts CLub Band
The Who - Quadrophenia
Jethro Tull - Thick as a Brick
Pink Floyd - Dark Side of THe Moon
Rush - 2112
Emerson, Lake, & Palmer - Brain Salad Surgery
these are all i can think of but it's like 2:30 in the morning. at a more reasonable hour i can prob give u a better list...

Pet Sounds? Pet Sounds, then Sgt. Peppers, since the Beatles were new to America, and tried to base it off them.
