Oh yeah, he was the crappiest Traveling willbury. Which actually isn't so bad considering who the others were.

Jam2Me 07-08-2005 08:50 PM
It happened at the beginning of March. Have you been living under a rock?
If Derek & The Dominos got back together I would come out from under my rock, but Cream only semi-interests me :p . Even without Duane and the original bassist, I'd pay big bucks to see them back together.

Heh, it's an honor to be Lefty Wilbury the crappiest Wilbury.

I would just like to break in and just say a little thanks to Lunch for putting those Who albums in YSI, I knew they were good but I didn't know they were that good I think I have found my 2nd favorite band. I only had The Who Sing My Generation and their greatest hits and thought they were pretty good but this is crazy how good they are. Thanks a billion.

Since you listen to Jane's Addiction, could you tell me what album I should get? I already have Ritual De Lo Habitual.

Ever seen in Anchorman when Ron plays the main riff to "Aqualung" on jazz flute? Funny stuff.

Schyma: did you see the shirt I got yesterday?

It's not the most outstanding album, but I think it has it's moments and is unique in it's own little wierd way. I wasn't really dissappointed by it because I had no expectations going into it.

Yea, that Bitches Brew shirt is badass. :thumb:

Anyone like the Dandy Warhols? They're not Classic Rock but their the closest thing to Classic Rock in tody's modern music. (IMO)

I always thought of them as more an expansion of 80's stuff like My Bloody Valentine...Not sure what genre you'd classify that under...

The Strokes try to capture a classic rock vibe...well, more like a 70's Iggy Pop type vibe...

Brendan Benson is very much classic in terms of his approach. If you dig 60's pop and rock, check his stuff out, it's great.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 07-08-2005 11:00 PM

13 Tales and Come Down are IMO their best albums. I saw them once in concert. :D

80's? No, it's the 60's man.

Illmatic 07-08-2005 11:00 PM

Erm...no, the Strokes are more like a terrible version of Television.

Anyone here like Roy Orbison. My Dad's got his greatest hits but I've never listened to it.
Roy Orbison was great, I love him. I was just listening to "Pretty Woman".

Great singer.

Listen to most of their stuff and then listen to Lust for Life. Direct influence. More like a watered down version, though...

Illmatic 07-08-2005 11:03 PM

If my "Lust By Life" you mean Marquee Moon, then yes, you are correct.

Have either of the albums from the supergroup with him McCartney, Dylan and Petty? I think there was a 5th member too but I can't remember who and I can't remember the name of the group either...the traveling somethingberries.

Illmatic 07-08-2005 11:05 PM

1) It was George, not Paul
2) The fifth member was former ELO leader and Tom Petty producer Jeff Lynne
3) Travelling Wilburies
4) Go away

Glitterati 07-08-2005 11:07 PM

I have both volumes from them

I don't own either, but I've heard the second one is better than the first. Is this your opinion too?

Glitterati 07-08-2005 11:11 PM

Always cool to have a new regular, except when their first post is "hey guyz i liek classic rawk 2, my favs r zepplin and ac/dc and gnr but every1 @ my skool just listens 2 emo and rap lolololol."

Oh, and both volumes are good, but I like Vol. 1 best.

Badmoon 07-08-2005 11:12 PM

Finally got a hold of the Reservoir Dogs soundtrack.

And I just watch True Romance.

After watching True Romance I found it funny how many obvious (Well, not necessarily) connections to other Tarantino movies (Natural Born Killers, Reservoir Dogs) there were.

It was made right after he died, so, yeah. As much as I like Lynne and Petty, and love Harrison and Dylan, it wasn't the same.

His films are in may ways as much about the music as anything. Everyone remembers the opening surf music of Pulp Fiction, Steeler's Wheel from Resovoir Dogs, etc.

Glitterati 07-08-2005 11:24 PM

I've heard True Romance is good.

I rented some movies today.
