LoneStarDrummer 02-13-2006 03:32 PM

Janeway 02-13-2006 03:36 PM

Yeah.
I want to go practice my saxophone but my stupid dad fell asleep on the floor right infront of the case so I can't get at it.

LoneStarDrummer 02-13-2006 03:40 PM

your dad fell asleep on the floor? man, that rather inconvinient. too bad the sax isn't out of the case b/c then you could play a nice loud note right in his ear.

I already posted in it so i'm good.

Loyton 02-13-2006 08:51 PM

Man, Im so pissed off.

My vocalist came over, and my band did like a runthrough of all the songs we know, mostly covers, for a sort of sound check thing to make sure we can play em live. We are still quite a ways from a gig, but have lots of unfinallized original material (I mean LOTS)

So anyway, we run through most of the songs fine, but the metal songs we play the vocals cant get any louder or we have feedback, basicly the room we are playing in (our studio area) is a TINY pos, and that just plain doesnt fly with the 3+ stacks and massive set we got in there.

So my guitarist, being the smart drum-educated person he is (really he should know better, hes a good drumline drummer, just doesnt play ANY set)

Tells me im using BRUSHES from now on to practice our METAL songs. I mean.... what the hell? I flat out tell him to screw himself, I will NOT use brushes bottom line, so then he gets all pissy and says hes not playing his guitar untill he can hear himself.

I, being the only one attemping to resolve the suitation as a week's pouting of my guitar player would mean us not moving foward any, suggested that we ALL get heavy duty ISO headphones, with earbuds or even another set of iso earbuds underneath, plug the vocals guitar and bass into the mixer, everyone moniter out of it, and I would be the only one playing acusticly. What do you think?

We did it before with just guitar and drums, I think itll work.

i just got finished watching the Incubus live at redrocks dvd and fell even more in love with Jose. I think he is my new favorite drummer. I love this entire band too, brandon's vocals are absolutely spot on, and thats quite the feat considering how amazing they are on the new album. Jose's setup is awesome, I'm going to configure my set like that when I get a new one. I like it when the rack toms are behind the snare, not over the bass.

Thats a great dvd. I cant tell if some of the vocals are dubbed or not though, Im leaning toward yes, because theres several times where his mouth moves away from the mic but the volume is constant, etc.

Our band plays the warmth, I play it pretty much note for note, with a few added/altered things, but mostly the same. Its a quite a fun song.

Tim 02-13-2006 09:35 PM

mmmmm pizza. so good. I just spent about $50 on my g/f for velentines day. That was towards my BP snare fund. Oh well i still have $100. :D

MattMarlow 02-13-2006 09:48 PM

Hey all :D

I'm wanting to get better at muh drums, I've been playign about a month, and can do the basic rock blues and jazz beats, and syncopation and various easy beginner stuff. I saw Icanplaydrums.com, and wondered if it was a rip off? aaand whether it's a good investment?? Better Alternatives??

Anyhelp guys?

Tim 02-13-2006 09:51 PM

WTF is Icanplaydrums.com? Just chill here in the forum and youll learn a lot. PIck up the book stick control for the snare drummer. That will take you a long ways in your drumming. I still work out of it even though ive completed the book. Great book.

derryk 02-13-2006 09:55 PM

That book is tough. I'm on the first page right now. I'm also eating candy hearts that have 5 calories per heart. And today in school, we played a gay game where if you talked to a girl, you had to give her your heart (paper heart), but if she talked to you, then you get her heart. Then when you talk to someone, you lose ALL your hearts. Someone jacked my two hearts..:(

Wow did you hang around after school to snort giggle and watch the figure skating olympics

derryk 02-13-2006 10:01 PM

Snort giggle?

That's Weak.

I didn't organise the heart game, Student Union did.

Loyton 02-13-2006 10:03 PM

Im just giving you a hard time.

But I dont think I would play that game even if they made me...... it depends on the women im working with. Your school sounds like a rough one.

aznriceball 02-13-2006 10:04 PM

^u mean as in quantity?

anyway, heavy iso stereo headphones pay for themselves, and in a way i was able to keep my bassist, who refused to wear ear protection from going deaf by getting these kinds of headphones.

*dajdammit i meant to derryk's post

derryk 02-13-2006 10:09 PM

Yeah, no worries.

It's a "nerd" school- but it's surprising how many people smoke pot.

Edit- azn.. what are you talking about now?
