Wrong.
And wallrus, I agree, BOE is a fantastic song, not as good as When The Levee Breaks, which is IMO the best Zepp song.
I would be compelled to say "Since I've been Loving You", but When the Levee Breaks is right up there

mango jam 03-19-2005 05:00 PM

I love When the Levee Breaks....definately up there...along with about a million or so others, but such is the nature of my obsession with Led Zeppelin

pigonthewing82 03-19-2005 05:44 PM
hah.. Greatest hits are such a temptation but I usually regret getting them, sometimes they overlook the best stuff, although I was impressed with Led Zeppelin's greatest having "Battle of Evermore"
I love Battle of Evermore. Any Led Zeppelin song that has to do with the Lord of the Rings is just great, well any Led Zeppelin song is great.

Broken Arrow 03-19-2005 05:51 PM

Why don't we discuss Zeppelin in the Zeppelin thread?

Anyways The Lemon Song and Bron-Y-Aur Stomp are my current favourites.

I can think of Ramble on and Battle of Evermore, I know there is another one but I forget what it is...

clown_phobia 03-19-2005 06:01 PM

Yeah, the lemon song rules. Good Times Bad Times has been a favourite of mine for a long time.

the drumming in that is excellent. so distinctive. so throughly bonham.

I thought Misty Mountain Hop was about hippies. The Misty Mountains are in the Hobbit though. What a bad book.

Walrus Gumboot 03-19-2005 06:17 PM
Misty Mountain Hop :thumb:
Ahh that's it

Livewired, what are you talking about? I thought the Hobbit was great

Broken Arrow 03-19-2005 06:18 PM

The Hobbit was long boring and childish.

pigonthewing82 03-19-2005 06:21 PM
The Hobbit was long boring and childish.
Well it was written to be a childrens book.

Broken Arrow 03-19-2005 06:22 PM
Well it was written to be a childrens book.
Well I know but I had to read it this year for school and in Gr.9 the Hobbit is too childish.

pigonthewing82 03-19-2005 06:24 PM
Well I know but I had to read it this year for school and in Gr.9 the Hobbit is too childish.
It is childish, but its really interesting to read after reading the Lord of the Rings, because there is just so much going on in that book that you don't realize until you've read it.

Walrus Gumboot 03-19-2005 06:25 PM
Well I know but I had to read it this year for school and in Gr.9 the Hobbit is too childish.
I could see hating any book if you had to do it for school, but I'm a bit of a Tolkein junkie, so I read it on my own

EDIT: I wish we read that in 9th grade, we had to read the Iliad, Beowulf, The Odessey, etc. :upset:

Broken Arrow 03-19-2005 06:28 PM

Distant Echoes 03-19-2005 06:58 PM

RHCP on classic Rock? i like em...but they dont belong there yet

I heard something about Lynyrd Skynyrd and Mark Knopfler possibly giving a performance around here (Philadelphia PA)...but i turned on the station at the end of the announcment, so its very vague. I dont believe its part of a tour, but i heard somethin about tix on Wednesday. Does anybody know anything about this.

And the Eagles Gave a performance only about 20 miles away from here yesterday, and i knew nothing about it until that night. :(

jpj 03-19-2005 07:00 PM

That's like last summer I found out on the night of the show that Allmans tickets were only like $15.

Distant Echoes 03-19-2005 07:03 PM

Last Summer? Which one are you talkin about, Skynyrd or Eagles

Uh, neither.

StreetlightRock 03-19-2005 07:11 PM

Oh hey, about When the Leeve breaks... the movie, Almost Famous, the 'single' that the band in the movie has, 'fever dog', the intro drums are EXACTALLY the intro drums to When The Leeve breaks.

truth.

DVG.

Broken Arrow 03-19-2005 07:17 PM

Wow the hawk (my local radio station) isn't counting down the "top 40 most influencial classic rock artist of all time" but it's terrible cream came in at 39 where as i think the guess who came in at 21 or something.

Is it on right now?

Because I will tune in if it is.

Distant Echoes 03-19-2005 07:32 PM

Our radio station has a top 500 classic rock songs of all time every labor day weekend. Its a huge event on the radio...and stairway usually wins every time, but last year it was born to run. Honestly, disregarding the fact i dont care much for bruce, i think Stairway blows that song away.

The Top 10 usually is a little out of whack every year anyway...its hard to not be disapointed no matter who you are

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 03-19-2005 07:33 PM

The poll may be up tonight. :)

thickasabrick 03-19-2005 07:38 PM

A bunch of my friends want to start a band, so I agreed I'd play guitar. Unfortunately, none of them are really that good at their instruments at all, so I've been searching for easy songs that are still cool. Any suggestions? late 60s early 70s bluesish rock prefered (or any psychedelic).

So far I've got a couple Cream songs, and a couple Hendrix songs that should be easy enough for them.

edit- and the drummer is apparently really good, haven't seen him play yet though...
