I've always wandered, how do you become a hacker?? Do you neccesarly have to study system engineering and thinks like that, or is it just something you can learn by your own??

PaulSimonon 12-01-2004 05:37 PM

Bye.

ScorpSath 12-01-2004 05:38 PM

Nissaks, one becomes a hacker by having severe anti-social views on life and too much time from a young age. Add to that a fascination(or skill) for math and logical systems as well as computers you're well on your way to becoming a hacker. It's mostly a self-taught thing.

You can learn it by yourself, but you'd have to know the right people.

nisakss 12-01-2004 05:41 PM

Tommy Makkinen was awesome, he won four championships, and I think 3 were in-line with Mitsubishi. My all-time hero though is Carlos Sainz, followed closely by Juha Kankkunen.

There was this swedish driver, Stig Bloonqvist I think he was called, awesome driver. He used to drive an Audi Quatro Turbo, and I found some in-board cameras......that guy was blindingly fast!!!!!

This is a question based exclusively in what I've learned from movies...so it may be stupid......but how much math must you know, in order to reprogram stuff, and break codes, etc..?

I see....I've always had a strange fascination about hackers, although I've never really tried anything :upset:

BassVirtuoso 12-01-2004 05:45 PM

Ask espbassor about hacking, after all, he is studying computer engineering.

You'll mostly need to know programming.

My friend is what you call a "pseudo-hacker." He "hacks" by using programs. What kinds of programs? Programs where you turn them on and type in an IP address. This is NOT hacking, this is using a program.

Hacking would be writing your own programming...at least, in my opinion. The word "hack" is thrown around incredibly loosely, I think.

coddingtown 12-01-2004 05:46 PM

Hangman, Hangman, upon your face a smile, tell me that Im free to ride, ride for many miles

Mitchell Royce 12-01-2004 05:47 PM

You don't really need to know a lot of math to be one but you must have a good understanding of mathemtics and logic. Program languages are all different and one needs to learn a particular language to make programs with it. Most people start with something like C++.

To fox: So your friend is even worse that an Script Kiddie. Good stuff.

Omega Red 12-01-2004 05:48 PM

God I have over 1400 posts in these threads

He likes to say "Script kiddies are ****ing gay. *runs "nuke"*

I have one friend who is even more of a pseudo hacker. He talks about it like he knows what he's doing, and he even had something called the "M virus." Apparently, he downloaded a program off that internet that changed certain keys to the later of your choice. Jeez man...

Foxfire 12-01-2004 05:51 PM

There are 10 types of people in this world: those who know binary and those who do not.

i know how to read binary!

Mitchell Royce 12-01-2004 05:52 PM

Reidster, no you do not need to know how to read binary. That's simply the principle on which your cumputer operates at the most basic level. You need to be able to read and understand the program language though.

coddingtown 12-01-2004 05:52 PM

God ****... Foxfire and Luke, you guys have nearly 2,000 posts in this thread.

A mere 300 here
