Smashing Pumpkins - Zeitgeist

It's solid, they havn't embarrased themselves, I'm happy. I'm sure people in A&I will rip some of it to shreds, but if you listen to it in the right mindset then I think it's got a lot of good material on it. I think the layered vocals are a bit much at times, but the guitar tone is typically amazing, the drumming is hot and there's some great moments scattered throughout.

man I would kill someone to get a hold of one of the original releases of this.

definitely the best folk/pysch album ever.
That sounds good. I might have difficulty searching for that though.

here's a tip: never let Zappa tell you what song to listen to first if you're trying to get into a band. he told me to listen to Reuters by Wire, but that song doesn't personify the band at all.

and then he told me to listen to "I Hate the Kids" by Hot Snakes, but that song is really lame. i listened to some of their other songs recently, and they're awesome! like Nomeansno meets At the Drive-In. but i didn't know that from what ZAPPA told me

Amos Lee - Amos Lee

Still love this, but haven't played it in quite a while, so I dug it out of its box. It's just as good as I remember it; that is, more or less perfect except for the last track. And I think I like that more than I used to. Just really good stuff.

Looking forward to listening to The Meads of Asphodel - In The Name of God, Welcome to Planet Genocide sometime soon as well. I've had it for a while and haven't bothered, for some reason.

ok

pulseczar 07-01-2007 09:12 PM

Zeitgeist is predictably kind of good and kind of gay. It's plagued by overproduction and bad vocal mixing.

Kage 07-01-2007 09:19 PM

I hope Tarantula isn't the best song thereon. (it's the only one I've heard)
