Hetfield's voice was back to 80's style(but not that high-pitched)
Sorry, but I don't believe you for a second. Hetfield's voice hasn't been that good since the Black Album, no matter how far spread out the shows are and how long his voice gets a break. I've heard songs from the concerts the past few nights and it's a better voice but nowhere near 80s voice.

Trivium and Avenged Sevenfold are the only two acceptable openers on this tour. Any others aren't worth it. Yes, Godsmack was pretty awesome when they played with Metallica.
Btw:
April 3rd, school talent show.. Im playing lead guitar in Enter Sandman and Master of Puppets.
Sweet! I've played Creeping Death live and the middle solo to MOP live, but that's it. That's awesome.

GenuineImitation 03-26-2006 02:01 PM

I have mixed feelings with Godsmack. Their albums aren't great, but they have a great live show.

SimonCore 03-26-2006 02:54 PM
there were a few local bands and then Simple Plan, The Rasmus and Collective Soul. they all suck a$s. AFter them it was Seether. They were good, but Metallica was amazing.

I can tell, for those planning to see them soon or whatever, THey are the Sh!T!
Hmmm. I'm suprised none of them got booed. I'd be really deperate for Metallica, and not wanting to sit through the ****ing rasmus!

Rayne264 03-26-2006 02:56 PM

god id love to see metallica live, i cant believe, out of all bands, simple plan opened for them. im guessing it had something to do with bob rock.

Prince of Darkness 03-26-2006 03:03 PM

it was a festival

Britton 03-26-2006 03:04 PM
it was a festival
So all in all they sounded good.

Hey! what's wrong with Collective soul?

SimonCore 03-26-2006 03:06 PM
it was a festival
Oh right that's ok then lol. Looks like it'll be amazing for me at Download then! 2 hour set

They were right before Metallica and I've never heard their music. So, by that time, I was just to excited about seeing Metallica and just couldn't give a sh!t about Collective Soul. Oh, and the leadsinger is a prick. He told us that "We are an independant band...Did you fuking hear me! I said we are a fuking independant band!" what an as$hole.

Metallica opening on Blackened made my life complete.

Are you going to Tool?
If you are: I hate you
If not: Idiotic choice of yours, do not say this near the Tool thread

I don't know any of the band members from Collective soul...and I don't know what they are for and what they are against...but I do like their music.

When I saw Tallica back in 04 they opened with Blackened too. Well actually they had their little video...but the first song they played was Blackened (which is like my favorite Tallica song eveh!)

What other songs did they play?

PepsiMetal 03-26-2006 03:12 PM
I'm not bored of it. I used to be bored of Enter Sandman but then I didn't hear it for like 8 monthes and now I like it again.
Same here. Enter Sandman used to be my favorite tallica song, then I got sick of it, haven't listened to it for a year or so, and the other day I put a CD in my car stereo, and enter sandman was on. I actually liked it again. :p

Britton 03-26-2006 03:17 PM

I completely wore Metallica out...that's why I wasn't around for a while.

I'm finally getting back into them. I also wore out Trivium and Jimi Hendrix...so it's cool getting back into all this music I haven't listened to in forever

Bl4ck3n3D 03-26-2006 03:32 PM

Every Metallica concert I've been to they've opened up with Blackened, I love that song. Back in 88/89 on the Damage Justice tour and 2004 MIWTW tour.

Jev 03-26-2006 03:32 PM

I haven't listened to Metallica properly in quite a while. Don't know why, I just haven't.

Mechanix72 03-26-2006 04:23 PM

Does anybody know the distortion effect used in alot of the songs in the St. Anger albums? That sorta filtered distortion, like it was being played through a pillow or something. Some examples, the intro to St. Anger or Purify and a bunch of other songs.

Blanka Flip 03-26-2006 11:17 PM

For the distortion question, they just modified a few different things about their normal amp distortion- With the intro to St. Anger, they just took the distortion down a bit.. Just little things like that.

Hey! I don't have cable, so I havn't been able to see any of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame shows! Does anyone know where I can find a video of Metallica's performance? Or even better, the whole show? I know I was able to find Metallica's whole ICON before, but I can't find this. Thanks for the help, I apprciate it!

Apocalyptic Raids 03-26-2006 11:33 PM
I love that song.
I never would have guessed.

Chu 03-27-2006 01:00 AM
And I've heard Fade to Black probably three times a day since freshman year of high school (aka, over two years ago...)
And Orion by any chance? Last year I would listen to RTL right through at least once every day, just because I have no other music that sounds, so good.

Rattlehead 03-27-2006 01:52 AM

I have to say, if you ignore how much better the previous albums are, St. Anger is actually a great album. i really like it.

Chu 03-27-2006 02:02 AM

It is a good album, even compared to their other albums, imo at least.

They said it was a return to their roots, and it was, just with a modern day sound... (I probably think of this different to most of you, so ignore me).

Rattlehead 03-27-2006 02:20 AM

yeah i love it, its a really good listen, i wouldnt mind another album like it, but ideally it would be another like Black Album. and i would dream of thrash, but you know...

Captain Quentin 03-27-2006 05:47 AM

i have to disagree, st. anger just didn't do it for me
the only songs that stood out were st.anger and frantic

or something to that extent.

timmySmi 03-27-2006 10:22 AM

Got my ticket for download today! Can't wait to go see one of my childhood bands according to Lars they may play some new songs if they are ready. Iam looking more forward to seeing Tool though I love progressive rock there music is so intelligent its just breathe taking to listen to.

good to know he has the encouragement he needs to improve.

metalhead_matt 03-27-2006 10:31 AM

about what you guys were talking about earlier, ive never looked at st anger that way. as in ive never looked at it and ignored their earlier albums. it does make it better but in reality its the same band, and it was awful.

Rattlehead 03-27-2006 10:37 AM

exactly, that was my point, but i still enjoy listening to it. i don't let it get to me, i just hold it in mind that its a damn site better than linkin park and other stuff like that.

metalhead_matt 03-27-2006 10:54 AM

fair enough. but bring on the new album, i cant wait til download, gonna see tallica for the first time, and if they play some new songs alot of questions will get answered

Jev 03-27-2006 10:56 AM
and if they play some new songs alot of questions will get answered
