NP :Rancid - Time Bomb
There's a song I haven't heard in forever. |
Sup lunch
Anyone else want to give an opinion regarding local band uploading? Yay or nay? Notice that "I don't care," "meh," or "I'm an apathetic waffleman" are not options :) |
Hello all.

Maybe it's all the hardcore punks who call them posers that influences me. :( |
Hello Bartender.
That's too bad, I think I'm gonna get my Rancid CD downstairs. :)
....And Out Come the Wolves was great, but most of their other albums were weaker in comparison. |
Maybe it's all the hardcore punks who call them posers that influences me. :(
Probably. I think they're catchy as hell. |
....And Out Come the Wolves was great, but most of their other albums were weaker in comparison.

Probably. I think they're catchy as hell.
Catchiness doesn't really appeal to me. |
Catchiness doesn't really appeal to me.
It does appeal to me if it's a Ska punky sort of catchy. |

EDIT: Bartender, your thoughts on uploading local bands for the regulars to listen to via this thread: yay or nay? I always seem to just miss you when I ask this. |
Maybe it's all the hardcore punks who call them posers that influences me. :(
well i know a lot of people who hate them because they don't try any thing oringinal, and that Armstrong whouldn't let the band try playing a little bit of a different style, like how the Clash used some regge, because he was afrid it whouldn't sell as good. That is not punk. |

EDIT: Bartender, your thoughts on uploading local bands for the regulars to listen to via this thread: yay or nay? I always seem to just miss you when I ask this.
Don't see a problem with it, as long it's not on any kind of huge scale (like running a business or something). |
Business, ey?
|
Well, my cousin's fine and out of the hospital.
|
And the reason I was out was because I took some medicine and then took a nap. I actually feel better now.
|
Well, my cousin's fine and out of the hospital.

The one from the car wreck, if I remember right?
Si. |
That's good news, Ray.
Bartender: I assure you, it's just to spread music. I'm not getting paid or increasing my wealth in my non-existent business or anything :) |

Jay-Z - Takeover A vicious diss track where he eats Nas alive. I think ATM would like this the most, but anyone else can check this out if they want to. |

I know you missin all the (FAAAAAAAME!)
But along with celebrity comes bout seventy shots to your frame Nigga; you a (LAAAAAAAME!) Youse the fag model for Karl Kani/Esco ads Went from Nasty Nas to Esco's trash Had a spark when you started but now you're just garbage Fell from top ten to not mentioned at all to your bodyguard's "Oochie Wally" verse better than yours Matter fact you had the worst flow on the whole fuckin song but I know - the sun don't shine, then son don't shine That's why your (LAAAAAAAME!) career come to a end There's only so long fake thugs can pretend Nigga; you ain't live it you witnessed it from your folks pad You scribbled in your notepad and created your life I showed you your first Tec on tour with Large Professor (Me, that's who!) Then I heard your album bout your Tec on the dresser So yeah I sampled your voice, you was usin it wrong You made it a hot line, I made it a hot song And you ain't get a coin nigga you was gettin fucked and I know who I paid God, Serchlite Publishing Use your (BRAAAAAAAIN!) You said you been in this ten I've been in it five - smarten up Nas Four albums in ten years nigga? I can divide That's one every let's say two, two of them shits was due One was nahhh, the other was "Illmatic" That's a one hot album every ten year average And that's so (LAAAAAAAME!) Nigga switch up your flow Your shit is garbage, but you try and kick knowledge? (Get the fuck outta here) You niggaz gon' learn to respect the king Don't be the next contestant on that Summer Jam screen Because you know who (who) did you know what (what) with you know who (yeah) but just keep that between me and you for now How in the hell do you respond to that if you're Nas? "Takeover" was Jay's finest moment since Reasonable Doubt. |
Nas did fire back with "Ether" (I don't know how I forgot about that one), which has some good lines ("Rockafeller died of AIDS, that was the end of his chapter/And that's the guy y'all chose to name your company after?" being one) and some bad ones (the "Gay-Z and Cockafella Records" line is abysmal).
EDIT: Lyrically, "Ether" wasn't an outstanding diss, nor was it as devastating as "Takeover", but it did its job. |
