well i know a lot of people who hate them because they don't try any thing oringinal, and that Armstrong whouldn't let the band try playing a little bit of a different style, like how the Clash used some regge, because he was afrid it whouldn't sell as good. That is not punk.

How in the hell do you respond to that if you're Nas? "Takeover" was Jay's finest moment since [I]Reasonable Doubt[/I].

Nas did fire back with "Ether" (I don't know how I forgot about that one), which has some good lines ("Rockafeller died of AIDS, that was the end of his chapter/And that's the guy y'all chose to name your company after?" being one) and some bad ones (the "Gay-Z and Cockafella Records" line is abysmal).

EDIT: Lyrically, "Ether" wasn't an outstanding diss, nor was it as devastating as "Takeover", but it did its job.
