Im planning on locking my friend's incredibly scare-able girlfriend in a dark room and play Viginti Tres full blast
then have my way with her It certinally is a one shot track though, like LAMC was, once you hear it, thats it, no desire or need to hear it again |
Viginti Tres caught me off guard... 5 mins of practically nothing? all the other albums ended with a bang and that was probably the only real disappointment i had with the new album...

It caught you off guard with a bang, exactly what the band wanted.:naughty: |
Packaging>Album
Nothing is really jumping out at me and making me say dam I GOTTA hear that again. I'm sure it will grow on me more and more. I do keep getting Wings II stuck in my head. I bet live it will be better. |
Viginti Tres is an interesting track.. reminds me of what i hear when i get sleep paralysis
I never thought about that, but now that you mention it that is exactly what it is like. |
Well, supposedly the stereo optic pictures of the band members have a meaning behind them according to Blair. As he puts it, it's a "kind of puzzle"..
Those pretentious bastards, and their pretentious ways.. </sarcasm...but seriously, some of you guys need to use a new word. Maybe, "haughty", "arrogant", "vague", or "snobbish"..?> As of now I have heard the album so many times that I'm having withdraws, because I'm here at work and my cd-player has no batteries. Of all the damned luck. Not to mention that whenever I go to bed "Jambi" is playing in my head. Yes, I am that sad.. I feel that the album was mixed a little off centered. You have this ginormous build-up with "Vicarious", "Jambi", "WfM/10,000days", and "The Pot" to only come to a screeching halt to have a mystical chant with a Native American (though, I can't say much because I enjoyed the chanting...it's in my blood.. lol.). Though, I remember an one of the band members saying that it was in a totally different order whenever it was originally conceived at one of the listening party interviews.. Overall, it's one of my new favorite albums.. |

They... have? Only one Tool album has ended in a bang to my knowledge, and that's Ænima. I suppose the Gaping Lotus Experience, Disguistipated and Faaip de Oiad really rock hard to some people? :p |
3rd is really the only END track that im really into. The "secret" song on Opiate gets old after the first listen. I can't bare to listen after 4 degrees on undertow, and I turn off lateralus after Triad...
i guess if you are into those "out there" tracks. Never really my bag |
I never thought about that, but now that you mention it that is exactly what it is like.
My thoughts exactly, it's the sounds you hear in the stage of consciousness right before sleep... or in some peoples case out of body experiences. Interesting stuff. They have used that sound before and is exactly what they are going for. :) And for anyone who uses brainwave synchronizers you will recognize the sounds, I imagine they put that in there to relax the listener after the album is done. So far all the people claiming it is just noise, which it essentially is, there is some meaning to the noise. |
The Patient
Hey, I know this is kind of a throwback, but I kind of wanted to get this forum back on track... you know... theories on the songs?
One of my all time favorites is The Patient off of Lateralus. I love the guitar intro and the drums throughout, but I've been thinking a lot about the lyrics: 03 the patient • A groan of tedium escapes me, Startling the fearful. Is this a test? It has to be, Otherwise I can't go on. Draining patience, drain vitality. This paranoid, paralyzed vampire act's a little old. But I'm still right here Giving blood, keeping faith And I'm still right here. Wait it out, Gonna wait it out, Be patient (wait it out). If there were no rewards to reap, No loving embrace to see me through This tedious path I've chosen here, I certainly would've walked away by now. Gonna wait it out. If there were no desire to heal The damaged and broken met along This tedious path I've chosen here I certainly would've walked away by now. And I still may ... (sigh) ... I still may. Be patient. I must keep reminding myself of this. And if there were no rewards to reap, No loving embrace to see me through This tedious path I've chosen here, I certainly would've walked away by now. And I still may. Gonna wait it out. I have a theory: This song is about Maynard's mother, who was a cancer patient for 27 years (this might also be the reason for the title "10,000 days (27 years is 9,855 days... almost 10,000.)) ANy thoughts? |
Maynard must have been trippin balls when he wrote Rosetta Stoned. Those aren't the kind of lyrics a guy writes when he is sober, and where did you hear these things about his mother?
|
what things?
|
I heard that 10,000 days and Wings Pt1, and the song Judith are all about Maynards mother Judith Marie Keenan, as for The Patient, I think its about Maynard overcoming his heroine addiction.

I'd put a big vote in on that. That makes a lot of sense |
The bongos at the end are a really nice finish to the song.
|
I love the guitar intro and the drums throughout,
I agree with your reading of the lyrics and I love the drumming too, probs my fave performance from Danny. |
"Fetch me the spirit, the son, and the father. Tell them their pillar of faith has ascended. It's time, now, my time, now. Give me my wings."
Some of the lyrics seem kind of dumb to me (parts of Rosetta Stoned, and then some of The Pot), but there is some good stuff in there. Wings for Marie/10,000 Days are too good. I can't stop listening to this album. Seriously, like nonstop. |
"Fetch me the spirit, the son, and the father. Tell them their pillar of faith has ascended. It's time, now, my time, now. Give me my wings.".
I believe this line is a refrence to MJKs mother dieing, going to heaven, and demanding her dues for all the suffering she went through during the 10,000 days after her stroke, and for her faithfullness to religion (most likely the Catholic Church) The rest of the album is good, but none of the other songs after Wings/10,000 days grab my atention right away. It took a few listens for me to start getting in to Lost Keys/Rosseta Stone, Intention, and Right in Two |
"Rosetta Stoned" is a hell of a song, with or without the concept in mind. The singing at the end is golden and is > you.

Listening to Jambi for the first time.
This solo is totally sick. |
you mean three damn notes or something
lol @ your ignorance. you idiot
Doesn't have to be fast to be good.... |
Listening to Jambi for the first time.
here be a random thot
go **** u tool fanboy tool be gayer den elton john and i happy i never done heared a gottdam solo ding
What is worse than a tool fanboy? Someone who complains about tool fanboys. |
What's better than that? Using the ignore list.
|
I'm raising my 'spammers non-procreation fund' to a record 45 dollars and an apple-tini.
Please leave. |
STFU Bob Jones!

You know all hope of loosing your virginity before middle age has been dashed when you need to carry on a conversation with yourself on different accounts on a message board.
Get accquianted with that blow-up doll, Bobby, I have a feeling that you're aren't seeing much else in that department. |
