Okay, that makes no sense to me.

Which head are you running and do you mean that it is putting out 450W @ 4 Ohms?

OR

Is it putting out 450W @ 8 Ohms?
on the back of the head thats exactly what it says.

but i guess that mean 450watts at 4ohms

thats it there

Okay, that particular model is running 450W at 4 Ohms.

Right.

2X10 500W @ 8 Ohms

2X12 500W @ 8 Ohms

Since the cabs will be running in parallel that will drop the Ohm rating down to 4 Ohms (If you were running in series the Ohm rating would be 16 Ohms)

So what that means is that if you ran the two cab together you would have:

1000W @ 4 Ohms.

Now your head is pushing out 450W @ 4 Ohms when it is running at its maximum.

For simplicity sake I will assume that these are all RMS Wattage ratings and not the peak values.

So you 1000W @ 4 Ohm stack will be receiving a maximum of 450W @ 4 Ohms.

That means that each cabinet will be receiving a potential 225W as the 450W will be shared equally between them.

You will get more percieved volume if you run both cabs together becasue you will have more surface area of speaker and thus be able to move more air.

Ideally you would want to invest money in a more powerful Head or maybe purchase a power amp and just run the EQ signal from your current one into that.

Also to maybe explain some of the maths behind it and give you a better understanding here is a thread I made a while back in the resources section:

mmkay, fair enough

maybe i would invest in a power amp, but i think i'd just run it through the 2x12 until i figure something else out.

thanks

I would say rather run both on the same amp, just don't push it to full levels as you will clip it then.

You will notice a percieved difference in volume because of the greater speaker surface area.

fair enough, but if i can't push it as far then it wont be as loud?

i just find that it's difficult to get mine to be loud enough to be heard over even just a drummer

It would be the head unit you have.

Those behringers are decent for the price, but are more of an entry level unit.

Maybe look at getting yourself a Genz Benz 600 or look into the Pre-Amp Power Amp setup.

Right, I must go, work to do.

Cheers

yeah, i will if i need it more frequently than i do at the moment.

anyway, i'll take a break to, no ones here.

So I had a midterm today, I was thinking that it was at 10:30. So I got up at 8:45, no problem, plenty of time to get to my exam on time. WRONG!!! my midterm was at 9:30, good thing I realized that as soon as I got out of bed. I put on cloths and ran out the door to the bus. I used a patchwork of different buses to get to school on time and I think that I nailed the exam.

What was the exam on?

The Principles of Time and space? :p
What was the exam on?

No, it was something about how people in the 17th century perceived power and statehood. It is the only midterm that I have had this year that I walked out of saying "I just nailed that one"

I find school to be flawed.

The way I see it, is that we go to school to learn. The fact that we are being tested on our knowledge brings in the question weather people go to school to be educated or go to school so that they can show off a diploma and get a good job.

I like school, hate the pressure that's associated with it.

University is supposed to be a place of higher learning, but today's society has placed such a huge pressure on making a lot of money and deciding what your future is going to be, that it has bastardized university into nothing more than an overpriced training ground for your future occupation. I am in university to learn, once I am done with my schooling, then I will figure out what I want to do with my life.

My thoughts exactly.

Everyone always asks what I want to do with my life. I just keep saying that I'll figure it out later. My goal is in my first 2 years to take a wide variety of 101 courses. I do this to expand what i know, to see what I like and then make an intelligent decision based of that.

I'd be happy being a smart assed low profile worker.

I don't deal with stress too easily. Damn high tempered genes.

One Groovin Clown 10-26-2006 02:45 PM

Next Thursday is actually the standar delivery date, so you never know it may come sooner!!!

Oh how I want my TRB6 oh how I want it bad.

Ja. Wanting new stuff is simultaneously the best/worst.

Stress doesn't bother me. Everyone in my history class was stressing out today because of the midterm. I was fine, I just don't get stressed. Which I guess if good for me because it is proven that stress causes cancer.
