Less 'pure' trip-hop than, and not quite as good as, some of those already mentioned. But worth hearing.
Mike Patton on vocals? |
Not solely, but yeah.
|
What exactly is trip hop (I dont recognize any of the bands listed)?
|
It's music which basically grew out of a tiny little sample (as in DJs sampling records) culture in Bristol. The name comes about because a lot of the music (as opposed to the vocals) bears a passing resemblance to hip-hop, only cooler, downtempo and more soulful. Or 'trippy'. As a result it bears practically no resemblance to metal.. but you might like it. All kinds of people do. There don't seem to be pre-requisite likings, to liking trip hop.
Key albums if you do want to check it out are Massive Attack - Mezzanine (if nothing else, the song "Teardrop"), and DJ Shadow - Endtroducing.., which together effectively killed trip hop as it was being born, by being so perfect that no one really felt they could be topped. |

IF you like DT, you will like Symphony X. The singers sings and really well I may add. There is also a large Symphony X thread that you may want to check out while your at it. |
Ok Thanks

Is the new ep from Bring Me The Horizon any good, and worth getting?
|
Can anyone recommend me some music in the style of Between the buried and me. If you have listened to their newest album Alaska, in a lot of their songs the guitarwork is very powerful, for example, the intro to the song "Alaska". And the chorus in "All bodies" when the singer says "We are just mortal souls, left to die" then the guitarist goes into an arpeggio type riff.
Could someone recommend me some metal/metalcore bands with more of those kinds of riffs? Thanks. |
Try some of:
The Dillinger Escape Plan Martyr AD The Red Chord Darkest Hour Ion Dissonance Glass Casket |
Can anyone recommend me a nice list of some good bands that are similar to the likes of Audioslave and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers?
Also, what are the best "Muse" songs? I've only heard a few and I love them. (Stockholm Syndrome, Sing For Absolution, Butterflies and Hurricanes). Last request now... can anyone point me in the right direction of the best drumming in Rock/Hard Rock. Name a few bands that the drumming is clearly a standout, but not too advanced like Rush. Thanks. |

Im looking for some more classic rock, prog rock and alternative rock. Please dont say bands like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, King Crimson, Tool or any other big name band. Im looking for some stuff you wont hear on the radio. Thanks in advance.
Classic rock is just about the most general derivative of rock, so a bit more info on what you like might narrow things down. As it stands, try the James Gang, Free, Bad Company, The Yardbirds, The Animals, The Travelling Wilburys, Mott The Hoople, Hanoi Rocks, Jeff Beck
True. I guess I should have asked a less general question. Beck and The Yardbirds are great, but I'll check out the other bands. Thanks for the help. |
Can anyone recommend me some Grind music, thanks.
|
Dillinger Escape Plan, they are grindcore right, I heard they were Math core which is a sub-genre of grindcore.
|
Check out Napalm Death.

Im looking for some more classic rock, prog rock and alternative rock.
try Anathema, Katatonia, Violetine, Rocket Science and Powderfinger's album Double Allergic. Question time: Are there any black metal songs that are melodic and have at least some half-decent production, while not being too extreme? Arcturus - Radical Cut is the song I heard that triggered my interest. |

Try anything off Dissection's Storm Of The Light's Bane. Night's Blood is my favourite. Also try Mother North by Satyricon. |
