I just got Cannibal Ox's The Blue Vein, it seems pretty good. Any fans?
|
'Fantastic Damage' is better.

I the only Hip Hop I bought this year from this year was Pharoahe Monch's Desire.
A great album. I want Talib Kweli's Eardrum album but I don't know if it's any good. Anyone know? |

Wait...the Cold Vein? Or maybe an instrumental version or something? Anyway, yeah. It's one of my fav. albums, and def my favorite thing that El-P has done. Check out Company Flow and EL-P's Fantastic Damage. |

Saw Blackalicious and Busdriver at Falls Festival over the last few days.
Busdriver was really amazing, brilliant performer. Blackalicious were ok, but Gift of the Gab live is a bit boring, not much animation. Still fun for a dance though, didn't play enough from Blazing Arrow either. |

Yeah he was, and it was amazing, probably one of the best I saw at the festival, and there were some great acts. He was really into it as well, even though he was on at like 1 o clock on a hot day outdoors. Seriously impressed, even my friends who arent big into hiphop were impressed.
|
Never listened to Busdriver, not a fan of Blackalicious anymore, gab's voice and style kinda bug me these days. What's a classic Busdriver track?
The live acts I enjoy the most are The Roots, Wu-Tang, Public Enemy, and Cypress Hill. |

They did every single song you could really hope for, a whole heap of shit from Blazing Arrow too. And his freestyle was mindblowing. |
Yeah he did do some awesome freestyling, that was probably the best part. They didn't play Chemical Calisthenics :( but they did do First in Flight, Paragraph President, and the Sky is Falling which were all amazing.
Good Busdriver track is Kill Your Employer, was stellar live. Roadkill Overcoat is a good album. Seeing Dr Octagon and Aceyalone at Big Day Out later this month, can't wait. |
I would KILL to see Dr Octagon, aceyalone is just a sweet bonus
|
Dr Octagon is doing his set with Kutmaster Kurt which is pretty sweet too.
|
I may see Jeru and Doctor Octagan on Jan 11th
|
That would be seriously awesome too.
I just got Snoop Dogg's Anthology. It's actually really good.
I think the majority of his albums, with the exception of Doggystyle are remarkably poor. Too many fillers per album, never really progressed lyrically. |
Doggystyle is of course a classic, but I actually really dig Tha Blue Carpet Treatment
|
yeah same here
except the album version of boss life with akon sucksss so much compared to the one with nate |
Doggystyle is soo good. I think I like it more than The Chronic, with the exception of a couple of songs.
|
Doggystyle is the only Snoop album worth having from what I've heard of his stuff. I love the song "Gz and Hustlas".
But I bought The Roots "Do you Want More!?!?!" a while ago, and it's awesome. I love Qwest Love, such a tight drummer. Which of theirs should I get next? |

Is there any Hard Rock/Metal Rap other than RATM that is good?
|
not that I've heard.
|
Saw free Spank Rock show the other night, was amazing. Seriously fun, apart from the shitheads in the crowd.
|
GYBE - Lift Your Skinny Fists
|
GYBE - Lift Your Skinny Fists
some mad rhymes on that one. |

Spank Rock is cool, they are from my state. I hear the new album sucks though. |
Is there any Hard Rock/Metal Rap other than RATM that is good?
theres a bunch of crappy nu-metal and rage imitations....you might like (hed)p.e. though |

It may, I think they only played 2 songs from it, one i already knew and it's pretty poor, the other was ok. The old stuff is awesome though, Bump and Sweet Talk live were amazing. |
People call for Rap/hip-hop to have a forum of its own, but we can't even keep this thread alive? Poor effort.
Jay-Z's Reasonable Doubt is soo good. Track with Biggie pwns. |

I only ever listen to the first three songs on Reasonable Doubt. The Blueprint is better.
|
I'll always have a soft spot for Volume II since it was the first one I got.
|
Wyclef's "Carnival" is a pretty sweet album. Love the Stayin' Alive track.
|

|

|

Well I meant the first Wyclef album in '96, but his newest album (Carnival II) is still pretty good, but not nearly as sweet as the first Carnival... |
