I like grooves but yeah, a lot of slam takes it a little too far. It's basically 2-step death metal.

masscows 07-24-2007 05:44 PM

I listened to Waking the Cadaver earlier and spit out my soda laughing at the pig squeals. Are they considered slam death or deathcore? (I know alot of you hate the word "deathcore")

Treebeard 07-24-2007 05:44 PM
Try those bands though. They have enough groove in there that you might enjoy them.
I've heard those bands.

Poofy 666 07-24-2007 05:45 PM

did you like them?

Yeah, it makes me disappointed that these really talented bands just sit there and play midpaced power chords while a guy burps into a microphone instead of writing good music :(

Waking the Cadaver is slam death.

I'd just call them generic new br00tal death. there's some slam, very little hardcore, but then again I can barely make it halfway through a song so I'm not basing it on much.

SHREEDDED WHEAT.
SHREDDED AND SHREDDED AND SHREDDED
AND WHEAT

masscows 07-24-2007 05:46 PM

I thought slam death metal was something you played if you really didn't know how to play your instrument and just wanted to do something "brootal".

haha@coke

Defeated Sanity's first cd is pretty good.

combustion07 07-24-2007 06:24 PM

Anyone heard Deprision?

Dargon 07-24-2007 08:36 PM
Yeah, I just listened to some "real" slam death metal and I was like...holy ****...this sucks...alot. I don't mind it when there's one or two slam riffs in the song, but when the entire song is slamslamslam it's just so boring+is missing alot of the aspects that makes death metal worth listening to.

I'm gonna have to admit now that most slam death metal is in fact wiggerish, just as the "elites" have been saying.
thanks for telling us what we already know

as for your question about whether Waking the Cadaver is "deathcore" or "slam death", I'd just call them gangsta rap.

Apocalyptic Raids 07-24-2007 08:36 PM

I should check them out then.

Lesbian_Seagull 07-24-2007 08:38 PM

Waking the Cadaver is fucking terrible. The vocals have to be a joke. And if they are, they're a really bad joke.

Whitechapel are a much better "deathcore" band, in my opinion. The only one I'll listen to besides A Different Breed of Killer.

masscows 07-24-2007 08:51 PM

the vocalist in waking the cadaver looks like he should be supporting mike jones on his upcoming tour.

cap to da side, yo!

LifeInABox 07-24-2007 08:54 PM

Those guys suck soooo bad.

Invicta_Veritas 07-24-2007 08:57 PM

Never heard the band; I'm guessing I don't want to.

Dargon 07-24-2007 09:32 PM

tbqh you'd probably enjoy them

Whitechapel's improved a lot.

BoboTheRagingHobo 07-24-2007 11:44 PM

el oh el @ Waking The Cadaver

I heard them for the first time tonight...

Holy shit those vocals are funny, and to top it off the music was just as funny in a bad way.

Tyler 07-24-2007 11:58 PM

I repeat:

SHREEEEEEEEEDDED WHEAT
SHREADDED & SHREDDED & SHREDDED
& WHEAT

rattlehead42147 07-25-2007 12:02 AM

i need some new stuff to listen to and i know i dont want to check out something as gay as Nile.

Poofy 666 07-25-2007 12:06 AM

what type of stuff are you looking for specifically?

rattlehead42147 07-25-2007 01:34 AM
hahaha i'd call you an idiot

but you have the cd!
well that part was just thrown in there for credibility but i knew some expert like yourself would disagree. how is that not a sci-fi theme in that song, or better yet, why dont you explain to an "idiot" like myself what the song is really about. same goes for you pate.

read the lyrics
People of the earth beware,
It is here in human form
An atrocity laced with greed.
Filled with evil intentions.
Ready to attack

Look to the air for stories to choose,
Who will be your next victim
Profitting on visions of others,
dark emotions run through its veins
Its motives are false its mind is insane
A distant planet with no signs of life
To become a home for this alien breed.
Scientists of the world unite,
your services are more than needed
This creature in human form is out of control

Looks can be deceiving, see beyond the shell
Flesh and eyes mean nothing.
The truth, time it will tell
Before you think you fool the world.
What comes around goes around.
Shown for what you are, a waste of life
I mean, there's the "a distant planet blablabla alien breed" stuff, but taken as a whole it's clearly just a metaphor.

you posted the bolded part. read the italicized part.

Eliminator 07-25-2007 01:56 AM

sci fi theme =/= message

rattlehead42147 07-25-2007 02:03 AM
read the lyrics

yeah i get the metaphor but you cant dispute that chuck's using a sci fi theme. thats all i'm saying.

Invicta_Veritas 07-25-2007 04:02 AM

Jesus Christ, is there anything you people don't fight over?

Squirrel 07-25-2007 04:47 AM

Haha, irony ITT

Dargon 07-25-2007 05:57 AM

Dualist that he was, believed in both,
A God above created all, but down I care,
A God below, the materia. Believe in both.

Therefore denial of Jesus Christ,
No son of God, mortal inventions.

Baphomet!
I show you the crucifix and tell
Not to believe. Spit, deny Jesus Christ for
it's not true.
Baphomet, the one we hail.

Jaques de Metey, last master of Templars,
On life's flame his body reeks.
Flame appeared, as underage flesh died
And he prayed to Baphomet:

"I shall overcome this mindless society!
My executioners, they won't see another year!"

Some months passed, mysterious
Circumstances, king and pope,
Both were found in their blood.
Coincidence or Baphomet?

Gonads 07-25-2007 10:43 AM

I have a quick question, Do the Sputnik Death heads like Cannibal Corpse?

RetiredAt21 07-25-2007 10:44 AM

Aside from a few songs, I don't really like CC.
