They didn't play it when I saw them, but I really hope theu will next time in october.
Saw them a couple weeks ago and Baby, I'm an Anarchist! was right in the middle of the set. This **** Rules and We Laugh at Danger and Break All the Rules were the encore. SUCH A GOOD SHOW! |
Holy **** yeah there is a load of people from Miami. You guys go to shows?
|
I hate to interrupt your miamorgy but I just got around to downloading new wave and I must say that I'm enjoying alot more than I did Searching for a Former Clarity

yea. last show i went to was the one in revolution in ft. lauderdale just to catch streetlight manifesto. didnt have tickets but i stood outside for a little bit and some guy gave me his ticket for free. i got rained on like crazy but it was worth every penny i didnt pay. probably the best show i have ever been to just because i love streetlight. before that i went to warped tour, which was a waste of money considering i left before bad religion played. and then i went to the casualties in downtown because my friend thought it would be interesting to watch them. also a waste of money. i hated all the bands that played, and the crowd sucked. |
alot of kids where i live hate this band. one of the local bands around here slashed the tiers on against me!'s van. well thats how the story goes in a nut shell. and at one of the shows they were playing "baby im and anarchist" and everyone in the crowd would give them the finger.
i guess its because of when they were supposed to play with world/inferno at cbgb they filled the club with major label executives and left about 400 kids outside and unable to go to the show. they were supposed to sell tickets at the door but the day of were filled. unless you had ordered a ticket online, which cbgb lied about and didnt not put this online until the day of, you were not allowed in. ****ing sellouts. they still rule though. the new album isnt as bad as everyone made it out to be. |
W3rd.
Last show I was at was Blacklisted and Ceremony. I'll be at Studio A for obituary. Next Revolution show for Minus the Bear. |
Oh man, Streetlight was amazing! And sweet, thanks, I didn't know Minus the Bear was playing soon.
|
New Wave is for sale in Wal-Mart. Really.
|
are they only selling a censored version like they usually do?
do they still do that shit? (hasnt been to an american walmart or walmart in general for a couple of years) |

i envy you. but seeing your avatar, i think streetlight may have been a better deal. even though warped was more expensive. but yea, streetlight was awesome. skanking in the rain was so much fun i forgot i have asthma and i didnt bring my inhaler. any of you miami people happen to go to a private high school? or maybe alumni from one? hmm. i didnt know walmart still sold censored albums. i used to have to buy those when i was younger and my mom wouldn't let me buy them with the little parental advisory stickers on them. oh boy, good times. |
streetlight i am seeing on sunday for $14.

I don't get why ...Clarity isn't considered a good album, i think it's got some really great songs on it. I think it's better than New Wave, which isn't that bad either.
|
There's some good songs, but too many bad ones.
|

i love searching for a former clarity. i think a lot of people dont like it because a lot of the songs deal with them signing to a major label and how many fans are going to hate them. the most direct song being "unprotected songs with multiple partners". personally i dont understand why so many songs dealt with that if they were still on fat wreck. idk. but even those songs, IMO, have some of the best lyrics any bands are writing. |
It's still can't compare to Crime or RAR
|
Miami, Unprotected sez with multiple partners and From Her Lips To God's Ears (The Energizer) are the only songs I enjoyed a lot on Clarity.
Ohh. And Holy **** too. |
I like Joy a bunch.
|
Holy **** was the only song I really really liked off of that album.
A couple of weeks ago I downloaded the new "Against Me!" album "New Wave". I didnt really know too much about this band but had been reading lots of good things about it, and my friend Tegan sings on it. I like to keep myself up to date with whats going on musically in the world, so I checked it out. I fell in love with the album. Really. Like, couldn't stop listening to it. As heavy and gnarly as it sounds at times, it is unmistakably a pop masterpiece. Listening to it on the way to Australia, I wondered to myself how these songs would sound acoustically.
A couple of days later I was on a flight from Sydney to Melbourne and had the thought "I'd love to cover this album." The whole thing. Beginning to end. So I did. Anyway, here are the results. If you already know the original album, I hope these recordings shed a different light on it. If you don't know "Against Me!" and like what you hear, go check them out. Nic Johns is the unspoken hero of this tale. He recorded, produced and mixed it and basically made my dream a reality. Hats off to him. Hope you guys dig it. Enjoy! Ben
Download it here: http://www.ben-lee.com/blog.htm |
I don't like his voice.
It does make me wish the album was acoustic though. |
I think Searching For A Former Clarity is up there with the rest of their albums, it has a different sound but I still think the songs are written really well and sound awesome. My favorites from there are Miami, Unprotected Secks With Multiple Partners, From Her Lips to God's Ears (The Energizer), Joy, Holy Sh*t, Don't Lose Touch, and Searching For A Former Clarity is great because the whole song is a metaphor, like Unprotected Secks With Multiple Partners. I think it's better than New Wave but there's only about 3 songs on New Wave that I dislike so it's pretty good too. I can't stand that people only hate New Wave cus it's on a major label, there's still great music on it.

I found that most of the songs on SFAFC we're by far the weakest lyrically of all their albums. Only Joy stands out for me. Listen to Untitled on the Acoustic EP. People don't like New Wave just because it's on a major label. I'd still like Against Me! if they were on Sire and wrote albums like ATEC and RAR or their EP's. New Wave is good when looked at aside from their earlier work, sure, but Compared to RAR, ATEC, Crime, and Acoustic, It lacks passion and the folk style they used to have. |
i don't like his voice either, but it definately makes me like the album less as it would be much better acoustic apparently...
|
his voice reminds me of Michael Stipe from REM. is that just me? the piano sounds kinda bad imo, and theres a few songs i dont like that he coved like thrash unreal.
i really liked the acoustic version of up the cuts that some one posted a few pages back. |
Ben Lee covered an entire AM! record? That's weirder than hearing that they hang out with Bruce Springsteen.
|
So did Against Me! sell out or what? I've been out of the loop.
|
Yea I'm not diggin Ben Lee's voice for this album. I don't think it has enough passion for songs like White People For Peace or Thrash Unreal, it's too soft.

By Untitled do you mean the last song on there which I heard is called Armageddon? I have that and walking is still honest from the acoustic EP. Do you think that is their best song lyrically? |
