Must check out obituary.

JMetallica 06-16-2004 07:17 AM

Obituary are a pretty awesome band.

Has anyone heard of the band Post Mortem? They released an album in 1986 that sounds like Obituary. I was just wondering if thats where Obitaury 'got their sound from' ?

If you want to get into obituary. roadrunner have re released alot of classic roadrunner label albums. You can get obituary's slowly we rot and cause of death or The end complete and world demise for the price of one album.

Its a cracking deal :thumb:

DimebagDarrell 06-16-2004 09:43 AM

ThrashMaster27 06-16-2004 09:51 AM

Obituary started in 1988. Both bands took all of their sound straight from the almighty Celtic Frost!

Question for the Thrashers :

I don't like Pantera's high vocals.

But I do like the song 'Yesterday don't mean shit' and the vocals on it, from the album reinventing the steel.
My question is : Are the vocals and the other songs like that song?

And is it a good album?

GraveRobbersINC 06-16-2004 12:35 PM

Well anything after Vulgar Display of Power didn't have many high vocals on it if that helps at all.

Griffin_Page 06-17-2004 12:19 AM

Oh man, I love the chorus to Sodom's Agent Orange.. so incredible. I've been listening to a lot of Kreator lately.. when my next paycheck comes in, im gonna go get Extreme Aggression and Pleasure to Kill.. the only Kreator CD I have is a burned one from my friends tiny Kreator mp3 collection.

Cowboys From Hell and Vulger Display Of Power do have the odd High vocals but Far Beyond Driven, The Great Southern Trendkill and Reinventing The Steel has Vocals just like on Yesterday Don't Mean ****. I'd suggest getting Far Beyond Driven if you don't like the vocals from previous albums.

superpeer 06-17-2004 02:22 AM

Alright, I'll check it out.

GraveRobbersINC 06-17-2004 06:02 AM

Anyone have any Sodom or Coroner mp3's they could get me?

madthumbs 06-17-2004 06:05 AM

why don't you go out and buy their albums, trust me they are good enough to buy

GraveRobbersINC 06-17-2004 06:33 AM

I would, but I can't find anything around where I live.

GraveRobbersINC 06-17-2004 06:33 AM

lol I've spent like 2 months trying to find Rust in Peace

JMetallica 06-17-2004 07:15 AM

lmao, there are a multitude of online stores that you can order stuff from. And you can always try asking the store to order stuff in for you, im sure they will be more than happy to take your money off your hands. :)

GraveRobbersINC 06-17-2004 08:01 AM

lol yes I'm sure of that, ya I don't know why I didn't think about online, what are some good albums by Coroner and Sodom?

Bartender 06-17-2004 08:52 AM

Speaking of CD shopping, I think the world has something against thrash (or more specifically, against me buying any).

On my way back from an exam I was in the mood for thrash, so on the bus I thought up a list of about a dozen thrash albums I didn't have and spent 45 minutes or so walking around three different stores (two chain, one independent). They've got a reasonably impressive depth of death and black metal now, but almost no thrash. Between them they only had one album from my list that wasn't ridiculously over-priced (Coma of Souls, which I bought).

Anyway, anyone know an online store or two that's good for thrash? Preferably not based in America for postage reasons, but give me American ones anyway.

good sodom cd's are m-16 and agent orange :)

DisposableHeroes 06-17-2004 10:32 AM

my testament CD and forbidden vinyl came yersterday, prettty dam good.

I was talking to some heathen dummy yesterday who happened to think slayer and testament were **** because of the band name. Needless to say, revenge was exacted.

GraveRobbersINC 06-17-2004 12:57 PM

How can you judge a band by it's name? That's gay.

DisposableHeroes 06-17-2004 01:01 PM

I know, then when i tell him that HIM sucks he explodes into this "well your band arent any better! Shut up!" i dont even have a band, i had to explain to him the word 'opinion' several times. Maybe more

GraveRobbersINC 06-17-2004 03:50 PM

lol, oh man downloaded a Sodom mp3 and now I must have an album!!!1
what are some good albums by Coroner?
All of them! Check out these songs though:

Masked Jackal
Suicide Command
Nosferatu

Anyone heard Blinded by Fear - At the Gates? It's cool...

Recent hauls:
Megadeth - Rust in Peae $19
At the Gates - Slaughter of the Soul - $28
Miles Davis - Kind of Blue (yusss!!) $10

I suggest you all listen to Kind of Blue... it's not metal, but it is one of the greatest albums ever made. If you don't like it, you're a closed-minded fuckwit that I will never talk to again :thumb:

sensitiveorgan00 06-17-2004 07:36 PM

My recent hauls/burns:
Jag Panzer - Ample Destruction
Coroner - P.F.D
Possessed - Seven Churches
Sodom - Agent Orange

manuscriptreplica 06-17-2004 07:40 PM

I hope you didn't burn the Coroner album!

Yep, not really thrash, but I really like the album. Listening to it right now, actually.

JMetallica 06-18-2004 06:24 AM

"Jag Panzer - Ample Destruction"

Hmm, i thought it was out of production... hmm, well, if they are printing it again, i will have to upgrade from a burnt version to the real thing :D

and three minutes later i realise you said burn/haul. hehe.. my bad.

nice cds though :)

Last cds i picked up were like 2 or three weeks ago :S. picked up:

Black Sabbath - Live Evil
Black Sabbath - Live at last
Fates Warning - The Spectre Within
