I never saw what was so great about Ktulu.

SimonCore 03-26-2006 03:34 AM

ktulu>TLITD>Orion

I gotta say Orion is better for the firs 2 minutse or so, but then it doesn't really ge any better.

Apocalyptic Raids 03-26-2006 03:39 AM

oh and also.

FTB > One > Sanitarium

Jev 03-26-2006 03:42 AM
Do any of you ever wish that Metallica just stopped after ..AJFA? Or the Black album? That way they would have never made these so-called "imperfect" albums?

I dont, I just want your opinions. Would it be best if they had stopped after the tour of a certain album? That way St. Anger or Load/ReLoad were never produced? The self-titled album never produced? RTL never produced?
Never. I would be left wondering what would've happened and wanting more like I do with certain bands that only released a couple of albums (eg Cacophony).

Chu 03-26-2006 04:22 AM

Orion > The Call of The Ktulu > To Live is To Die

Am I the only person that dislikes One?

gwarlord 03-26-2006 04:25 AM

i think it would be better if they hadnt done and justice for all and ride the lightning and master of puppets, there are very few songs i like off those 3 albums and st anger was a disappointing listen for me, i was expecting better production for it and also they didnt seem to know the style they were trying to play very well, but the songs are decent and they should sound awesome live, hopefully they get back to their form for the next album, because when they know what their style is they do fairly good songs.

im not a big metallica fan, i prefer anthrax, venom or pantera for thrash music

I don't like it much either. It's better than Sanitarium though.

The Call Of The Ktulu > Orion > To Live Is To Die, IMO.

/fourth Australian poster in a row \o/

Kyle 03-26-2006 04:47 AM

One is probably my least favorite. I adore Sanitarium but I think it's almost ruined by a really bad final solo, they could have done so much more with that. FTB is better than both of them though.

Chu 03-26-2006 04:48 AM
I don't like it much either. It's better than Sanitarium though.
I like Sanitarium, I don't really like One at all...

P.S. Aussies are gonna take over MX :D

...And Kyle's 100% correct, I couldn't have said it better myself.

Well, I agree with it in regards to KEA and RTL, but not MOP

Rattlehead 03-26-2006 06:14 AM

i think you are all mad singleing out a few songs like that. there's not one 'tallica song i dont like, but i have to say that one/call of ktulu/justice/creepin deth/FTB/HofS/...(see what i mean? i cant NOT go on and on forever...) but yeah i will always love all of it. and allthough anger is a major step-down from from their previous works, i still enjoy it. but nevertheless i simply dont understand whoever says Anger is better than lightening. cor, that's just insane.

metalhead_matt 03-26-2006 06:15 AM

the first 3 albums are unquestionably the best albums tallica did. AJFA showed the repercussions of the death of cliff. then the black album was the start of the downfall. << opinion

Rattlehead 03-26-2006 06:31 AM

In my opinion Black Album was the final victorious stand before, if you will, the "downfall". however, one who loves tallica purely for the thrash would not think so.

but i don't think there was a downfall, as the (re)load era was really cool, i think. now i have no idea what "jurassic metal" is, but it is said that Kirk himself announced it to be the orientation of the upcoming album. i'm hoping it is thrash, but in reallistic optimism i'm hoping it will be like the Black Album.:thumb:

oh and if it is to be said that there was no downfall, St. Anger is to be ignored. (allthough i enjoy it)

Steve M. 03-26-2006 06:43 AM

jurassic metal? maybe its like the film and they cloned themselves from 20years ago and are getting those guys to write the album...

Rattlehead 03-26-2006 08:02 AM

lol nice idea. ideally the new album would be like Black, though. i would love that. Its more likely now that Rob will have an influence. of course thrash would be brilliant, but i don't think it's particularly realistic.

Yes, I'm afraid so.

And, IMO, Orion > TLITD > COTK
the first 3 albums are unquestionably the best albums tallica did. AJFA showed the repercussions of the death of cliff. then the black album was the start of the downfall. << opinion
Clearly. I really like AJFA and the Black Album. I'd consider Load the "downfall," not the Black Album being the start of it. Load also wasn't really all that bad, and IMO, ReLoad and Garage are amazing albums.
It's your opinion but I can bet no one here agrees with this.
I don't :thumb: RTL and MOP are their best albums.
FTB > One > Sanitarium
I'd flip Sanitarium and One.

NP: Nothing Else Matters from S&M
*crosses fingers* Let there be THRASH!!
Guitar or vocals? Vocals= No chance, Guitar= big chance. Some of the St. Anger guitarwork was extremely thrashy, similar to KEA. (minus solos). James' voice will never be back to the thrashy calibur it was.

metalhead_matt 03-26-2006 08:52 AM

jurassic metal? sounds pretty cool. i agree with joe, theres no way james can go thrash metal vocals again, but it would be interesting to see how he integrates his voice with thrashy instrumentation, if they go thrashy again. i think the black album was ok but it aint a patch on RTL and MOP. KEA was there first album, it was untamed, RTL an MOP arent exactly tamed but i like them the best.

Orion>Call>One

Rattlehead 03-26-2006 09:16 AM

it's blasphemy to single out such a minor amount of songs from their reem of masterpieces, i cant believe youe still at it... lol

metalhead_matt 03-26-2006 09:20 AM

people get bored of one. its more of a song you would play to chill out to
EDIT: i mean in giggin terms btw, people get bored of hearing one

Rattlehead 03-26-2006 09:24 AM

im not bored of one. i cant see myself ever being.

metalhead_matt 03-26-2006 09:25 AM

no, im not saying i am, i dont know what it is but i always play it over and over

Joe 03-26-2006 09:26 AM

I'm not bored of it. I used to be bored of Enter Sandman but then I didn't hear it for like 8 monthes and now I like it again.

And I've heard Fade to Black probably three times a day since freshman year of high school (aka, over two years ago...)

ever eeking always rupert 03-26-2006 09:28 AM

MOP,
Leper Messiah,
Orion,
Blackened,
One,
Harvester of Sorrow,

Bad Seed,
Frantic,
St Anger,

Prince of Darkness 03-26-2006 10:03 AM

Ok guys. Last night I saw Metallica play a 2 hour set. I've never seen them before and never thought I would. Words cannot descibe how I feel. I was the best 2 hours of my life. They ONLY played good songs and they started with an unexpected Blackened. Omfg. The crowd went so crazy that you couldn't hear the music. Hetfield's voice was back to 80's style(but not that high-pitched) and they didn't play one song off St. Anger.
omg
omg
The sound cut out in Harvester of Sorrow, that was crap;spoiled the mood a bit, but they got it fixed and Hetfield said: "Who didn't pay the electricity bill?" The crowd went mental. I've seen a few Metallica Live shows on my pc, but never have I seen Hammet solo that good. He was amazing. Lars was flippin' funny, he was jumping around the whole time and spitting water into the crowd. They played about an hour, then they went off. Everyone was pissed, but they came back for another hour! They finished with Seek & Destroy. That was class.

Fuket it was amazing
And I was very close, i was just behind the golden circle and it was a smallish stadium. Oh yah, Before Metallica went on, there were a few local bands and then Simple Plan, The Rasmus and Collective Soul. they all suck a$s. AFter them it was Seether. They were good, but Metallica was amazing.

I can tell, for those planning to see them soon or whatever, THey are the Sh!T!

Rattlehead 03-26-2006 10:10 AM

mate you are such a lucky bastard. lol i want sooo much to see them.

I've only seen two good gigs. This and Muse.

I wish I was at that show.

I can't believe Simple Plan was one of the opening bands.

123. In my opinion, Metallica shouldnt have an opening band. All the bands today are garbage. I could only picture Trivium opening for Metallica, and MAYBE an older metal band. Id love it if Godsmack opened for them again! I saw that show. It was great. I really hope James' voice is back similar to what it used to be, but dont get your hopes up.

As for the next album, I hope its a mixture of MoP, KEA, and Black. Those have to be my 3 favorite, but it is a VERY hard decision. Id love some MoP style songs, and then Black, like NEM and The Unforgiven, Enter Sandman.. etc. The whole Black album was like gold for me. Very, very good. Best album, besides the other 'Tallica albums I've ever bought.

Btw:
April 3rd, school talent show.. Im playing lead guitar in Enter Sandman and Master of Puppets. :D

I think it would be cool if Metallica had an opening act that was at least good.

Not all bands today are garbage.
