ATM 07-30-2006 11:02 PM

I've really wanted to hear some Priest, so thanks :)
Easy Star All Stars doing Airbag, Toots and the Maytals doing Let Down, Citizen Cope doing Karma Police, and Israel Vibration doing the Tourist.
If you haven't you should check out the "Dub Side of the Moon" album. It's cool.

I'm so pumped up for this album. Toots and Maytals covering Let Down is going to be so interesting, as well as the rest of the album.

Zappa 07-30-2006 11:19 PM

I started Lucas Burge's relative pitch exercises a week or so ago, but never really followed through.

Yea I have Dub Side of the Moon and like it a lot.

Let Down by Toots and the Maytals is done really well.
Does anyone have any idea how to get a Jesus and Mary Chain guitar sound? Like that toneless buzz on Psychocandy
i like to mess with my boss OS-2 (overdrive/distortion) and turn the drive(actually crunchy distortion) down, turn the tone up a little, and turn the color (fuzz) all the way up. that way, you have fuzz mixed with a shiny clean tone sound.

Robert Crumb 07-31-2006 12:53 AM

Did any of you Radiohead covers people hear that one comp that had a bunch of underground hip-hop/soul artists on it? RJD2 and Sa-Ra collective are the only ones I can think of off the top of my head. Any good?

ATM 07-31-2006 01:03 AM

I never heard of that, sounds awesome.

Speaking of awesome, People Under the Stairs are so tits they are practically the cover of Jugs magazine

Horrorshow34 07-31-2006 07:37 AM

Screw Radiodread! where's my new Radiohead record? Spring 2007 that's where!

masada 07-31-2006 07:38 AM

Oh just listen to "Arpeggi" and be happy.

Horrorshow34 07-31-2006 07:42 AM

I already overlistened to it and killed it :( But still, has anyone heard the new demos they've been playing on tour? I tried to download some but the quality was terrible. Damn bloggers!

JonM 07-31-2006 08:38 AM

Anybody heard the Radiohead Remix Project? It's a bunch of nobody electronica dudes remixing Kid A-era Radiohead songs, and some of them are shitty, and some of them are just the original Radiohead track with an "oonts oonts oonts" beat on top of it, but there are a couple killer tracks, including one called "Everything All Over The Place," which is this HUUUGE 20-minute mash-up that mixes together all kinds of crazy obscure Radiohead parts. It's tight. I've got it on slsk in my compilations folder if you're interested (but I won't be on slsk until later tonight).

Well_Respected_Man 07-31-2006 10:18 PM

Is it just me or is everything on the internet going terribly slower except here, RYM and amazon.com?

YDload 07-31-2006 11:37 PM

honestly nacho, you look like a different person for every picture you're in. i can't form a mental image of you because you're a shape-shifter with no standout features.

get a job in pickpocketing or spying, you'd be good for it :)

anyway i might be goin to see DEP on sat.

The Great Decay 07-31-2006 11:39 PM

I'm definitely going to see Sonic Youth in August.

asdf 07-31-2006 11:39 PM
It's because I have different hair every time. Usually I straighten it, but clearly that was not the case at the festival.
Do you have a straightening iron?

YDload 07-31-2006 11:39 PM

JonM 08-01-2006 12:26 AM

My bass is here.

Ahhhh.

YDload 08-01-2006 12:30 AM
My bass is here.

okay here's what you do: pop in a CD or get your iPod, put on your headphones, and turn the bass up. play along with the songs and just listen for when your notes and the recorded notes match up (it's pretty obvious when they don't!). pretty soon you will be jamming along to almost anything you want, especially the relatively easy basslines of the Alt/Indie genres.

JonM 08-01-2006 12:31 AM

I plan on doing that all day tomorrow. My fingers are going to be so fucked up.

Well_Respected_Man 08-01-2006 01:23 AM

I started playing upright bass in orchestra two months before the end of the year and I gave myslef blisters and bloody fingers for show at the year end concert.

Zmev 08-01-2006 02:03 AM

its been august for 3 minutes here

i got employed at vector, training starts thursday

Glitterati 08-01-2006 02:14 AM
august started 40 minutes ago!
according to my watch it's been august for five minutes and 51 seconds.

which means in one month and four days I'm back to school for grade twelve. Which means I graduate in June 2007. Which means I need to find a job and post-secondary education. Which means after that I find a house in the suburbs, which means I sit there and post on MX for the following thirty years of my life.

Hey, who wants coffee.

Well_Respected_Man 08-01-2006 02:20 AM

lolz me too ^^^^

br3ad_man 08-01-2006 03:33 AM
Yes. I'm comfortable with my sexuality.
I have a friend who uses one and I often laugh at him for it. But that's more to do with the fact that he's a rich kid who's first car was a brand new Mazda 3. I thought of getting one a while ago because it made my hair look cool and wispy, but my hair's so straight already that it's not really worth it. Too bad.

Atheltics carnival today. It was real boring. I came just about last out of my whole age group for 100 metres.

ATM 08-01-2006 09:36 AM

Hey thread.

What's new in everyone's world?

asdf 08-01-2006 09:39 AM

Well here it's going to be almost 100 degrees, and feel like over 100 degrees, and I live in a home without air conditioning. Chances are, I'm going to be at a friend's house.

I live in Michigan. Weather like this should not be :(
