Woodstock is on my Vh1 right now. Santana's Soul Sacrifice.
I think that's what's on. I just turned it on when I read that, and there's some black guy tha isn't Hendrix on stage now. Is that it? |

Must be Santana's bassist. /not meant to be a racist joke. |
They just showed Hendrix before the commercial break, and it was kinda annoying because they zoomed in like super close to his head for the whole thing.
|
That must've been a bitch to clean.
Those women skinny dipping were surprisingly hot too. |
I only saw like the last 20 minutes, so I didn't see them.

Yea but it wasn't the visuals of Hendrix preforming that kept me in awe. |
Yes, those Woodstock women were pretty **** hot!
A lot of times when people filmed rock performances or TV specials, they'd always zoom onto the head really close. No particular reason. This was especially annoying during a TV performance I saw of Purple Haze, and they zoomed all the way onto Mitch Mitchell's head. Pissed me off, as that's one instrument you shouldn't do that too! |

And the people filming it were stoned too. There actually was some problems with the audio because the people who were recording it were high so they had to call in the musicians and record their parts in a studio. |

That is exactly when I turned it on. |
So what's everyone listening to right now?
For me, it's Down By the River. Great song. |

The people filming may have been stoned, but the real reason they show the crowd a lot or zoom in on somebodys head is that their filming technology was so primative. There are parts where things didn't get filmed because they were switiching the film in these big, bulky cameras, so they just show random footage to fill those moments. |

True, thats kinda what I ment by filming concerts was new at the time, but you worded it much better then I did :thumb: |
Woodstock was filmed great in my opinion. You can never go wrong with Martin Scorcese or however you spell it.
|
Back then nobody knew how to film anything properly. None of my Jimi Hendrix DVDs show his fingers. It's always the back of his head, his arm, his foot. Something crappy like that.
|
Woodstock probably showed the most of Hendrix's fingers compared to all the other footage of him.
|
My friend has a Band of Gypsies DVD and it's got amazing footage. It's filmed great, it always shows all of Hendrix, and then zooms in on his guitar/hands, sometimes it only shows his face. The only times it zooms in on his face is if he's singing and not playing guitar at the moment.

A Band of gypsies DVD would be awesome. You can't go wrong with band of gypsies.
