mysticalyeti 04-28-2006 02:51 PM

Talos 04-28-2006 02:55 PM

Cocaberry is a tosser, I knew that before the flamefest.

He went crazy because I got pissed off that someone was arrogant to me about St Georges day.

Berk 04-28-2006 02:57 PM

He called me a postwhore..... A POSTWHORE!!!.
.....*Goes and cries*.

Panopticon 04-28-2006 03:18 PM

it's funny cuz when he says its a joke he expects everyone to not hate him anymore...but i know most here still will:)

ThugsRook 04-28-2006 03:42 PM
You got the Dragons all dialed in yet?
i spent all my practice time yesterday dialing them in. today i played for a few hours and they felt really good. no problems with heel/toe, slide, or double strokes so i think im good to go.

Very nice pedals Thugs.

Double Bass Jim 04-28-2006 03:57 PM

I was looking at the previous pages... Sometimes a good ole fashion *** kicking is the only way to set someone straight the rest of their lives

Nice pedals man, I LOVE THE BEATERS! Thats the kind I need to get on my cobras. Thats the only thing I hate about em those tiny little beaters.

Talos 04-28-2006 03:58 PM

^ Yeah, plus he just wants the attention. I wouldnt give him the satisfaction of banning him.

the Yamaha beaters are even better then the Danmars i was using :thumb:

these pedals are highly underrated, i strongly suggest checking out the Yamaha pedals over the ICs or the 5000/9000s.

obviously it will come down to personal preference and feel, but i am very very impressed

thx for the comps guys :chug:

GhostGrooveMike 04-28-2006 04:09 PM

my two best friend got girlfriends today
i feel left out

Berk 04-28-2006 04:13 PM

I broke up with mine, I broke up like 2 months ago but we got back together.
I am so sad.

Talos 04-28-2006 04:13 PM

I havent had a girlfriend in two years. Sucks to be me.

Berk 04-28-2006 04:17 PM

Yeah.

Talos 04-28-2006 04:18 PM

Man, why is a Stage Custom so pricey? Its Phillipine Mahogany isnt it?

CausticVodka 04-28-2006 04:22 PM

There's your answer, then.

Talos 04-28-2006 04:23 PM

Phillipine Mahogany is cheap though, its used in Ddrum Diablo Punx which is about £150 cheaper.

Double Bass Jim 04-28-2006 04:25 PM

The construction is top notch as well as the hardware

To be quiet honest wood type has never made an impact to me at all. I've heard so many drums and there are many MANY other things that contribute to what you hear over what the shell is made out of.

You could have a shell made out of junk press board... Ensure the bearing edges are cut well, put it in an acoustically sound room, tune it perfectly and it's going to sound incredible. Everyone gets so caught up in those things when they really don't matter at all. The only time wood type makes a real difference is if your close micing. You'll hear subtle nuances but otherwise it doesn’t matter.

Futuro 04-28-2006 04:28 PM

My export/forum set I bought this year sounds awsome! Got it second hand, I have kids use that one and I play on the conaway when I teach.

Double Bass Jim 04-28-2006 04:33 PM

Exactly

Talos 04-28-2006 04:34 PM

Cool, thanks Jim. Ive been looking around and everything seems to be about the wood.

I like the look of the Ddrum Diablo Punx in Blue with White Fittings - Tantrum. The only thing is, ive heard its not to great quality wise but its at a great price, £399.

Undisco Kidd 04-28-2006 04:35 PM

DDrum Punx are hideous

Talos 04-28-2006 04:37 PM

Yeah, I just like the look of the Tantrum one - White on Blue. I just like it I dunno why.

Undisco Kidd 04-28-2006 04:38 PM
Yeah, I just like the look of the Tantrum one - White on Blue. I just like it I dunno why.
I think it stands out way too much, and having flashy hardware looks shitty when your set is covered in chrome cymbal stands.

Talos 04-28-2006 04:39 PM

Yeah thats true. I also like the Black on Black Export.

Undisco Kidd 04-28-2006 04:42 PM

Why not buy a set 1 drum at a time, and replace parts of your current set?

Like, if you were getting a saturn, start with a floor tom, then a bass, etc.

Talos 04-28-2006 04:47 PM

Well I need to sell my kit to get part of the fund towards my kit.

I seriously have no idea what to get. I only wanna spend about £550 on a kit and then £200 on cymbals.

Undisco Kidd 04-28-2006 04:50 PM

Save. An export or punx should not be an upgrade from your current kit. Don't buy based on looks, either.

Double Bass Jim 04-28-2006 04:56 PM

Quality cymbals first and foremost

All drums can sound fantastic, the same cannot be said for cymbals.

Elmo McCheese 04-28-2006 04:57 PM

Yeah any drums can sound decent with the right heads.

derryk 04-28-2006 04:58 PM

The right heads tuned correctly. =)

Talos 04-28-2006 05:02 PM

Do you reckon I should buy cymbals with that money then?

My current kit is a Session Pro, not by Pearl.

Double Bass Jim 04-28-2006 05:03 PM

Cymbals

Talos 04-28-2006 05:04 PM

Cool, what about adding onto my kit i.e. toms and stuff?

Oh and what cymbals? I was thinking maybe Sabian AAs. I dont wanna spend the whole lot on cymbals, maybe a double bass pedal or hardware.

Double Bass Jim 04-28-2006 05:08 PM

I would make cymbals #1 priority

And then if you need fresh heads for your current kit get those, fresh heads make all the difference

Talos 04-28-2006 05:10 PM

Yeah, I could do with some Coated Ambs instead of Pins.

The only thing is, im gonna be playing a few gigs this year, do you think my kit will be good enough?

Double Bass Jim 04-28-2006 05:14 PM

Sure why not

Tune the drums up well, no ones going to know the difference if your playing a CB700 or a dw collectors series live. Tune em up so they project and play.

Talos 04-28-2006 05:16 PM

Cool thanks Jim, youve helped a lot. What do you think of getting a box set of AAs and adding effect cymbals accordingly?

Double Bass Jim 04-28-2006 05:20 PM

I suggest buying cymbals one at a time testing them by ear
