that screech is roseta stoned kinda irritates my ears

taylormemer 05-03-2006 08:16 AM

The ammount of enjoyment you recieve from the packaging in some ways this "gimmick" is realistically not worth complaining about. So when I saw it I thought wow that looks interesting but so what, in the end it's turned out to be their best art so far. Art + Music is combing both sides of the brain the lenses just focus it all in my opinion. As many have already said, more groups should express themselves through art also, it really looks like a lot of fun really.

Rosetta Stoned is really growing on me, especially since the album came out, I think some of the vocals are slightly better mixed or something, I swear bits sound a bit different. It's like the continuation of Faaip De Oiad or something.

Also, 10,000 Days (Wings part 2) is one of the most powerful pieces of music i've ever heard. I absolutely love it. I really liked it the first time I heard it, and it just keeps getting better and better.

kurrpt 05-03-2006 08:20 AM

i used to skip wings 1/2 the first few times through, but now they are staple tracks for me.

what helped me with the actual release was the segway track before Roseta Stoned, where they are in the doctors talking about the patient that won't talk

taylormemer 05-03-2006 08:22 AM

^^^
Yeah the whole Wings/10,000 Days piece is so epic. Simply amazing. I absolutely love Right in Two, that one is really awesome.

Wings has a strong Mogwai feel to it IMO, those who know of them may back me up on that.

And the start of Rosetta Stoned makes me think of DT 'The Great Debate' for some reason

Now that you say that, it doesn't sound similar. The constant talking voices.

kurrpt 05-03-2006 08:24 AM

Agreed. I wanna play some of this stuff bad, but I'm a terrible transcriber.

Jambi also makes me want to play with a talk box.

taylormemer 05-03-2006 08:26 AM

The tab for for Vicarious on Guitar Pro is pretty accturate.

taylormemer 05-03-2006 08:31 AM

http://www.mysongbook.com/tab-tab_download-id_tablature=64884.htm

I found it respectable enough. It's better than the PowerTab one.

kurrpt 05-03-2006 08:33 AM

taylormemer 05-03-2006 08:39 AM

kurrpt 05-03-2006 08:40 AM

i got my friend to covert it to gp4 already, thanks man :thumb:

Esoteric_Creator 05-03-2006 09:35 AM

After listening to this album about 5 times since I bought it yesterday (two of which I was completely high) I have to say this is an epic album..

The album is divided in two parts for me. The first half you have the songs that scream a direct message at you (Vicarious, Jambi, WfM/10,000days The Pot), and then comes in the second half which is one hell of a f u c ked up journey describing what it feels like delievering the message (Lipan Conjuring, Lost Keys, Rosetta Stoned, Intention, Right in Two, Viginti Tres)..

I don't think I have specific songs I like with this album, because you sort of have to take it all as it is IMO..

I'm starting to think this album has the best artwork ever created... anyone agree?

kurrpt 05-03-2006 12:19 PM

ever created for a CD, easily...

its not my favorite Alex Grey work, but it definitely ranks up there

JamJar 05-03-2006 12:20 PM

It's damn amazing. The album is also growing on me immensely.

Maynard James Keenan, come on down.

Volcano/ZLG rockers Tool's 10,000 Days, their first full album since 2001's Lateralus, looks poised to sell in the 600k range after a tremendous first-day start, according to retailers around the country who could use some good news, rather than a used cheese grater, for a change.

J Records grunge legends Pearl Jam, their first album for Clive Davis, marks a real comeback for Eddie Vedder and company, with a projected total of 300k, give or take a few, helped by #1 sales at iTunes and fan sites as well as a spate of media coverage. It's the band's first new studio album since 2002's Riot Act for Epic.
Looks like '10,000 Days' may be debuting at No.1...pretty cool. For a while I thought it'd be a close call between those two bands.

kurrpt 05-03-2006 02:38 PM

no fukking contest IMO. TOoL has WAY more of a fanbase

clearvision 05-03-2006 02:40 PM

Che did you think that tab was good?

I was impressed apart from the chorus, it just doesn't seem right after the powerchords at 10 to the hammer on riff..
