Sort of. It gives you insight on the structure of the US armed forces, United States military history, and teaches you how to do stuff like march in a formation, lead a formation of troops, properly retire an American flag, etc.

It also enables you to enter the military an E2-E4 recruit upon enlistment. That, in turn, makes your salary higher. :D

Basically..if you complete the course, continue it through college, and then enlist, you are enlisted as an officer.
But it's not used as a recruitment program. They're not allowed to do that.
Basically, you learn about how to be a decent upstanding citizen, but there's other activities like rifle and orienteering.

Well, Madey that works for you because you only have one friend. :p I had plans to do the same thing, but I really couldn't stand not having daily contact with my friends. That's probably the main reason I actually enjoy school sometimes.

Your system guys differs A LOT from ours. It's much more modern and flexible and gives you the opportunity to direct your studies according to your personal preferences. You should feel lucky.
