Is this on the regular VH1 or on some special digital/satelite television vh1. Becuase I swear it wasn't on. I'll try again at 10.
|
It's on VH1, I'm not sure if it's uploaded anywhere yet. Just watched their performance, they played iron man and some other song, not sure. Hetfield seeemed to have a hard time hitting notes in that other song, they did good with solos though. Haha, James even said "I am Iron Man" in robotic voice in the beginning. :)
Is this on the regular VH1 or on some special digital/satelite television vh1. Becuase I swear it wasn't on. I'll try again at 10.
Yup regular Vh1. It's at 10 in central time zone. Check VH1 site for west coast times. Lol, James air guitaring when skynyrd played the solo to the freebird. :p |
Aha! Here it is, I've missed about an hour I guess. They're playing Iron Man.. the ending. James' clean vocals makes me cry. I wish he'd go back to old days and get dirty and scratchy when he sings.

Sweet, here we go, for this Metallica-medley, anyone know any songs that might actually fit together? :p
Off-topic, but: I usually alt. pick, and I was just playing Master of Puppets downpick (I haven't done this in so long!), when I pick the open E, I kinda double the pick (Err.. double the note?), it sounds kinda cool (imo)... Anyway, I'll see if I can get a microphone (It would appear my current mic is broken :/), on Friday, and have some recordings up on the weekend... My favourite Metallica songs at the moment, and the songs I would include in a medley are like Battery, Master, Orion, Ktulu, and Bells.. (Damn now I think about it, there's heaps more :/).. But I think everyone here (Or at least everyone who might help) should get a say in what songs we do... If you're interested in doing a collabration effort, well post your instrument and any songs you would like, and then everyone can make a choice of what to do (And what not to do). Yeah... |
I think plenty of Metallica songs will fit together. As long as they're in the same or relative minor/major, they should go together. I'll try and get a mic ASAP and see if I can help.

sorry to double post but has anyone seen who's on Kerrang's remake of MOP?

FIGHTSTAR doing Leper Messiah. What. The. FUCK.
What? That's just stupid! An emo band doing a metal cover!? Who else is doing it? |
Machine Head - Battery
Trivium - MOP Mendeed(who?) - TTTSNB Bullet for my Valentine - Sanitarium Chimaira - Disposable Heroes Mastodon - Orion Funeral For A Friend - Damage Inc. Pretty crap in my opinion. |

I don't think any of them can pull it off better than the actual MOP.
|
No one can.
|
So what is it a CD?
|
Yeah it's a CD that comes free with kerrang. It's not out for a couple of weeks yet.
|
Ah that'll be good. I hope i don't forget...which i probably will. Thank god for LimeWire:wave:
|
Is it on Limewire then?
I don't want to have to actually buy Kerrang. |
Well i'd imagine it'd be posted on Limewire when the kerrang comes out.
|
Oh right. I'm gonna take a look on Ares.
|
Kerrang! is generally a good magazine. I'd say it sometimes better than Metal Hammer. Although MH just get straight to the music point and do better bands. But last week they did a three page spread on Aiden. AAARRRHGGHH:angry:  Is anyone else annoyed by that band as much as I am?
|
yup, they suck pure an*s. in my opinion.
|
On the Rock Hall of Fame thing i think Metallica did pretty good. Specially Iron Man.
|
damn guys its been a long time since ive posted anywhere on these forums so what a better place than the metallica thread! anyways i see you all are laready on the topic i was gonna bring up (MoP remastered). I think its gonna be a pretty good cd except for the fact they have funeral for a friend doing Damage Inc. I just dont see how a band like that is going to be able to pull of one Metallica's most intense song but we'll see. I really wish Lamb of God was on there, but Im extremely excited that Mastadon is doing Orion. anyways i better get back to work
keep it metal |
Mastodon doing "Orion" will be very interestig to hear...
|
Mastodon doing "Orion" will be very interestig to hear...
... I disagree. I think Mastodon are terrible musicians. Not my thing. |
how do you guys play the creeping death riff, because i'm having a hard time to keep the rythm when i try to downpick it.
|
Mastodon doing "Orion" will be very interestig to hear...
I don't think there's a band (except 'tallica) who could do it better than them really. |
... I disagree.
I think Mastodon are terrible musicians. Not my thing.
oh shi... I'm seeing Metallica on Saterday. My god, it's gonna rock! I heard that Hetfield's voice is back to early 80's style(yeah!) and that the sound is great. The setlist for me: 01. Creeping Death 02. Fuel 03. Harvester of Sorrow 04. Welcome Home (Sanitarium) 05. For Whom the Bell Tolls 06. St. Anger 07. King Nothing 08. I Disappear 09. Wherever I May Roam 10. Fade to Black 11. Battery - - - - 12. Sad But True 13. Nothing Else Matters 14. Master of Puppets 15. One 16. Enter Sandman - - - - 17. Seek and Destroy I have a great setlist imo |
^ where are you seeing them!?
|
how do you guys play the creeping death riff, because i'm having a hard time to keep the rythm when i try to downpick it.
Either slow it down and practice till your mind goes numb, or just economy pick it, no-one will care. |
how do you guys play the creeping death riff, because i'm having a hard time to keep the rythm when i try to downpick it.
It's actually not too bad. I can't do it at full speed, but like said just slow it down if you want to downpick it. Otherwise, you can just alt. pick.
I'm seeing Metallica on Saturday.
fix'd
I heard that Hetfield's voice is back to early 80's style(yeah!) and that the sound is great. The setlist for me:
It's not. Nowhere near. But yes, it's better. And you mean that's your ideal setlist? No one ever knows before the show. And PoD is seeing them in Cape Town, SA Have you guys heard about the Kerrang! Tribute album to Metallica? I can't wait to hear it. I'm excited about hearing Trivium's Master of Puppets. /looks like you guys have. MOP is the only song I'm really looking forward to on there. |
And PoD is seeing them in Cape Town, SA
that's correct I always imagined them starting with Creeping Death:smoke: |
that's correct
I always imagined them starting with Creeping Death:smoke:
I don't think i'd like that. I like how at concerts they start with something really quiet like the intro to Battery or Blackened. NP: NEM from S&M. I was thinkin about this the other day, people say that Metallica doesn't really have amazing musicians and that's really not true. For anyone that has listened through S&M entirely would know. It's absolutely amazing. |
Trivium plays a fricking mean MOP cover. I also liked their For whom the bell tolls cover
Yea I heard the FWTBT cover and the intro to the MOP cover and I really liked it. I can't believe they're playing a show in Holland with Trivium and A7X. So bummed... |
Who is?
nd who says Metallica doesn't have good musicians? |

Hopefully that's the same at Download! Luck for me!!! |
Who is?
nd who says Metallica doesn't have good musicians?
Well there are people who say like "oh yea sure they're good but they aren't that talented" which drives me crazy because the it takes incredible talent to write music for an entire symphony and make it sound really good. |

They wrote for the symphony? I thought that the conducter/directer whoever he was just kinda had them play in key with Tallica |
They wrote for the symphony? I thought that the conducter/directer whoever he was just kinda had them play in key with Tallica
Yeah because on teh interviews and stuff they were like "Woah man, we're like playing with an orchestra, i dunno what the hell it's gonna sound like". |
They wrote for the symphony? I thought that the conducter/directer whoever he was just kinda had them play in key with Tallica
thats what i thought. when 'tallica wrote, say, MOP, they didn't write it specially for an orchestra. i think the maestro just plays in key with them, as you say. |

I thought Michael Kamen wrote the symphony music. |
