It was rediculous though, he met Lars and Lars wanted to jam. Lars never wants to jam unless it's with his band members.
Also if he would've jammed then that would've counted as practice and everyone knows Lars doesn't practice.
Yeah, the whole thing was pretty improbable.

DaveTheAmazing 09-18-2005 01:54 PM
Ok so you need help on the middle on? not the really tough one but the one btwn verses? Ok it's pretty easy. He uses the same scale as always. There's a little bit of harmony at the beginning, but you don't need to worry about that unless you're recording. It's not really any faster than the intro solo.

for the:
---1-----2-----1----2
E--------17--------15---etc-------------
B--17/15-----15/14----------------------

the top line is the fingers i find easiest until you need to use the 3 on the lower frets. try that out
I'm cunfuzd n scared :(

Britton 09-18-2005 01:54 PM

Yea you hear stuff like that all the time. on another subject one of my friends
got to jam with Dimebag a couple weeks before he died:(

On the topic from here: http://www.musicianforums.com/forums/showthread.php?p=9685682#post9685682
I actually enjoyed Load. And while some more thrash would be nice, I wouldn't want another KEA - retro bands are crap, and it would be rather boring to hear yet another band sounding like '83. A lot of thrah bands have managed to maintain a thrashy sound without being dated.

But yeah, this really belongs in the official 'Tallica thread
I can't really say I love Load, it's not horrible, but I can safely save I prefer St. Anger to Load..

It was a new approach to Thrash (imo) whether or not it was a successful approach is a matter of opinion (I'd say no, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't like it if they just played it same old (Standard tuning, standard drum sound, variety to the songs, at least a sort of interlude (Let Hetfield do some 'solos!' :p)), I think had they released it a few years earlier, and not tried to change so much about their style in one go it would have probably been successful and people might have said it was Metallica's comeback album ( ) - By successful here, I don't mean comercial success (afaik St. Anger was a comercial success?) I mean success to the Metallica fans.

Meh, can't think right now, I might add some more to this...

No you have not. Appriciate it. :thumb:

Jev 09-18-2005 02:33 PM

Just wondering. If there is a top100 drummers poll how many of you would vote for Lars?
I know I wouldn't.

I'd vote hetfield over Lars. :p

I wouldn't vote for lars, but would vote for some mainstream drummers though. I'd definetely vote for hetfield if he gets into singers/frontman polls.
(afaik St. Anger was a comercial success?)
I dont think it was a commercial success. But then again, KEA wasn't commercially successful either.

Britton 09-18-2005 02:38 PM

Hetfield can do anything. and I wouldn't vote for lars.

Jev 09-18-2005 02:39 PM

Mmm, I'd imagine Lars wouldn't get that many votes and the ones he does are from the extreme fanboys.

Chu 09-18-2005 02:44 PM
I dont think it was a commercial success. But then again, KEA wasn't commercially successful either.
I don't think Metallica achieved commercial success until Black album (Maybe ..AJFA?). I don't know the record sales, I wouldn't mind seeing how many albums St. Anger has sold compared to Kill 'em All..

Jev 09-18-2005 02:49 PM

Metallica (1991) /14 /December 2003
...And Justice For All (1988)/ 8 /June 2003
Master of Puppets (1986)/ 6 /June 2003
Garage Inc. (1998) /5 /January 2000
Ride The Lightning (1984)/ 5/ June 2003
Load (1996)/ 5 /June 2003
S & M (1999)/ 5 /June 2003
Kill 'Em All (1983) /3 /March 1999
Reload (1997) /3 /November 1998
St. Anger (2003) /2 /July 2003
Garage Days Revisited(1987)/ 1/ July 1990
Record/millions sold/year.

PepsiMetal 09-18-2005 03:00 PM

Yea but kill em all probably didn't sell much until after black/AJFA album was released and people actually heard of metallica. But I guess St. anger was the least commercially successful metallica album, even though it isn' the worst.

Jev 09-18-2005 03:02 PM

Garage Inc. is the worst commercially.

Chu 09-18-2005 03:02 PM

Sweet, cheers for that.

St. Anger was a flop it seems?

Jev 09-18-2005 03:03 PM

It hasn't been out as long as the others plus the sales numbers are pretty old.

Darkness 09-18-2005 03:14 PM

I heard St. Anger sold 5 million? I know I bought one. :D
Does Anyone Know When Metallica Start/started Recording A New Album?
Nah, they arn't saying anything. They are a lot of rumours, but no one knows for sure.

Thor 09-18-2005 04:47 PM
Nah, they arn't saying anything. They are a lot of rumours, but no one knows for sure.
I don't think thats how they should do it. They should announce it so everyone gets pumped to listen to another album soon.

Britton 09-18-2005 05:12 PM

I hope it's done in time for a summer tour

Thor 09-18-2005 05:16 PM

My guess is that it will be, but if they tour any other time of the year I'll still go.

Britton 09-18-2005 05:27 PM

So would I, but if it's in houston in the summer I can still go...I could always
skip school I guess...

hammet_ownz 09-18-2005 05:35 PM
