Metallica gig tonight. Anyone else but myself attending?
I can't begin to tell you how jealous I am

ever eeking always rupert 03-18-2006 02:05 PM

I can't begin to tell you how much I was lying. I just heard the first two songs on the radio, though.

James voice = huge improvement from last couple performences
Kirk + Rob = Spot on with everything
Lars = meh

Songs played = Fuel + Creeping Death

SimonCore 03-18-2006 02:26 PM

Yes they're playing Creeping death. Best RTL song! And the excitement means they'll probably play it when i see them.

So what concerts are free on radio?

ever eeking always rupert 03-18-2006 03:07 PM

Are you suggesting that I am lying?

Jev 03-18-2006 03:48 PM

Dude what Radio Station is this, I want to listen.

PepsiMetal 03-18-2006 08:14 PM

Neither have I. But when I saw Metallica, our local radio station played the whole concert after the show song wise. It was cool coming home, they played about 4 Metallica songs, and then I realized what they were doing.

Anything Metallica related you can probably find out on their website.

There ya go.

I'm pretty sure he was just lying about that he was going, not that he actually heard the concert on the radio. Possibly though, it's been done here.

Best Intro? Easy. Battery.
Best Closer? Easier. Fade to Black.

Yea, before the concert I went to they started playing Metallica at like 6 AM and didn't stop until about 2 or 3 hours after the show.

Captain Quentin 03-18-2006 11:44 PM

wow, that is one awesome radio station, none over here do that

blue3 03-19-2006 12:40 AM

Yeah, usually after concerts, some radio station plays songs by the band.

Apocalyptic Raids 03-19-2006 12:47 AM

Only if they're a really popular band.

I wouldn't want to listen to a band just after I saw them.

blue3 03-19-2006 12:48 AM

Why not?

Apocalyptic Raids 03-19-2006 12:55 AM

Because my ears would be ringing like hell, probably.

blue3 03-19-2006 01:02 AM

So? You're weird.

Apocalyptic Raids 03-19-2006 01:08 AM

no u r weird

Britton 03-19-2006 01:22 AM

After they played here our radio station played some of the songs from the show.

and the stupid DJ would always say "OMG I saw Metallica! and they opened with wherever I may roam" which they didnt...so it got really annoying. She didn't know anything about them and would go on and on about how cool they were.

blue3 03-19-2006 01:26 AM

no u r

You should've called in and told her to shut up.

Captain Quentin 03-19-2006 05:53 AM

hehe i love where this arguement is going

That happened on local radio here a while ago. The presenter went on about how Enter Sandman was the greatest song ever.

ever eeking always rupert 03-19-2006 06:34 AM

Let me elaborate on yesterday.

This radio station was a South African one. I was linked to it by reading a thread on the official Metallica message board. The radio station only played two songs. They have been made available for upload, if anyone is interested.

I did...and she kept doing it anyway...

Thanks for the links

Father_Jack 03-19-2006 09:49 AM

Cheers for the live tracks :D

Joe 03-19-2006 09:50 AM

Agreed. I rarely hear an excellent Creeping Death and I've gotta say that's one of them. It's amazing how much better James' voice sounds after a long break.

Maybe it was the rec equipment but at download he just sounded weak. Now its like "ROAR!" again :D

Jev 03-19-2006 10:38 AM

That could have something to do with Download being outside... Unless this gig was outside too.

Joe 03-19-2006 11:40 AM

Well I mean if you guys listened to the show when they opened for the Rolling Stones it was incredible how much better his voice was compared to the show I went to (after long break compared to after a show two nights before)

Jev 03-19-2006 12:24 PM

Yeah, it sounds like they're back on form again.

ever eeking always rupert 03-19-2006 01:55 PM

I'm not getting my hopes up. Remember, this is Metallica we are speaking about :p

Jev 03-19-2006 01:58 PM

I'll remain optimistic until I hear the new album.

vashts80 03-19-2006 01:59 PM

Creeping Death is broke. Somebody reupload thx.

PepsiMetal 03-19-2006 03:59 PM

Yup, reupload creeping death.

Lol @ james at fuel, "Is this where all wild animals are?" haha

Chu 03-19-2006 07:24 PM

I'll have Creeping Death rhythm down fairly soon - I know it, it's just a matter of getting up to speed atm (Which I find happens all too often :()

I have moved my music equiptment around, but if I find a way to get a microphone to the stuff, I'll see if I can get some recordings, both me and my drummer have improved so much since October (Although I still haven't posted the recordings from October :p)

timmySmi 03-19-2006 07:27 PM

Creeping Death lost its flavor the moment Jason left he owned that song just for the simple fact he's DIE! DIE! DIE! raised the hairs on the back of my neck.

Chu 03-19-2006 09:38 PM

Hey guys, my rhythm playing is solid at the moment (Well, I am very happy with it), I can do most (Popular) techniques fine, I think, except for tapping...

I'm after any song that has somewhere in the rhythm section some tapping? I don't know the name of any particular songs, but I have seen it done Live (A band called Rake Sodomy, I think maybe a Cryptopsy cover?), I'm after anything really, but I'd prefer it, if it wasn't any tech-death bands like Cryptopsy (For example).

Jev 03-20-2006 02:01 AM

Hmm, nothing really comes to mind but I'll look out for you.

The Conjuring by Megadeth has that cool tapping intro.

Hell Bent For Leather by Judas Priest is really good if you're just learning tapping.
