I haven't started recording because i haven't bothered to get off my a** and do it yet...

Chu 09-17-2005 08:41 PM
I'm a guitarist, and I record a lot. :D
I wish you recorded more
You're pretty good imo.

bringbacktheshred 09-17-2005 09:03 PM

What program do you record with, and what hardware do you use? I am a total recording n00b.

fade 2 blackened 09-17-2005 09:22 PM

anyone ever noticed a similarity between RTL, MOP, and AJFA? For example, the first songs have cool intros and are very thrashy, the second song on each is the title track, and the fourth song on each are the ballads. It was probably intentional.

Instrumentals were some of the last tracks (8 on AJFA and RTL, 7 on MOP). Track 3's were slower tracks. Yeah.

JonG 09-17-2005 09:26 PM

Yeah. I wish KEA had a "Kill 'Em All" track. Would've been cool.

Self-titled songs are great on all three of those :)

They all are pretty long too, and have pretty good guitar work.

bringbacktheshred 09-17-2005 09:41 PM

All of the track 2s were arguably the most 'epic' (see: lengthy) songs as well.

I noticed that,i always thought it was just me.

clairvoyant 09-17-2005 11:12 PM

Fade To Black, Sanitarium, and One all start with a B chord (once the main clean riff gets in)

Those "Metallica Sucks" avatars are really showing who the mature ones on the forum are.

clairvoyant 09-17-2005 11:18 PM

Since when did people have Metallica sucks avatars?

Check out a thread in the pit, something about this guy jamming with Lars. A good few people in their are sporting Metallica Sucks avatars. Most of them post in R&M.

edit:

NVM all that. They're just giving the threadstarter a hard time.

I mentioned that awhile ago.

1- Awesome intro (either acoustic or electric) that leads into an awesome thrashy song
2- title track
3- not the best track on any album, heavy head banger but not very good
4- ballads. incredible. these 3 songs are easily 3 of their best songs. and they start with a similar intro, each has
D--4--
A-2--- in them

and i haven't noticed any further similarities
The people who whine about it are even worse
intelligent :thumb:

it's not a big deal. you shouldn't bash bands like that. i could have an avatar that said i hate tool and they'd bash me

Darkness 09-18-2005 10:27 AM

Hey that guy said he jammed with Lars in Toronto (I think..?), but aren't they supposed to be in the studio right now?

DaveTheAmazing 09-18-2005 11:12 AM

Hey guys can I get a hand. I'm trying to learn the 2nd solo in Sanitarium. I've been using this to guide me. The first few seconds were easy enough. but I get to here before I start getting confused. I've used Windows Media Player to slow it down and try reading the tab at the same time to get a sense of the timing, but I just can't get my head around it. Can one of you guitar gurus sort me out. Is it accurate tab or am I a silly head? Any help appretiated :thumb:

DisposableHeroes 09-18-2005 11:20 AM

your best bet would be to use Powertab for it, heres a link http://www.powertabs.net/

good luck!

DaveTheAmazing 09-18-2005 11:23 AM

What do you use to read tab you download from that site?

Ok so you need help on the middle on? not the really tough one but the one btwn verses? Ok it's pretty easy. He uses the same scale as always. There's a little bit of harmony at the beginning, but you don't need to worry about that unless you're recording. It's not really any faster than the intro solo.

for the:
---1-----2-----1----2
E--------17--------15---etc-------------
B--17/15-----15/14----------------------

the top line is the fingers i find easiest until you need to use the 3 on the lower frets. try that out

Oh probably... he didn't think that out to well.

Jev 09-18-2005 12:40 PM

It was rediculous though, he met Lars and Lars wanted to jam. Lars never wants to jam unless it's with his band members.
Also if he would've jammed then that would've counted as practice and everyone knows Lars doesn't practice.
