My room is disgustingly hot at night, my legs always stick to the sheets. I hate it.
It was 101 in Sacramento yesterday (and probably like, 90 degrees at night), which is where my gf lives, but she has central air. Lucky broad

It isn't just the heat that bothers me, the humidity is horrible which is what gets me. My house has central air, but my room is literally 10 degrees hotter than the rest of my house. For some reason the air doesn't get through to it.

All I have is a window fan and a ceiling fan in my room, so yeah :-\

We only have a/c in one room (the living room), which we actually got for our dogs' sake.

magicbus 08-13-2005 03:29 PM

Today is one of those days where I'm bad at guitar. I'm also doing bad at CS today. So far this day sucks.

ATM 08-13-2005 04:16 PM

I jammed for over 4 hours today.

Illmatic 08-13-2005 04:26 PM

You know who I've started to get into lately?

Massive Attack.

Pretty cool stuff.

ATM 08-13-2005 04:31 PM

Hey Ray, what do you think of Neko Case?

Illmatic 08-13-2005 04:35 PM
Hey Ray, what do you think of Neko Case?
The only way I know her is through the New Pornographers, and she was pretty good with them.

ATM 08-13-2005 04:36 PM

I just know you are a Cash fan, and she almost reminds me of a female version of him.

Remind me to upload something soon, so you can give it a try.

Shaft! 08-13-2005 04:40 PM

First time doing this...
I finally learned the first 30 seconds of the solo to "Another Brick in the Wall".. I'm rather proud.
This new place called the Guitar Center opened up near where I live and that place is too loud for a pleasant test-drive of the equipment.
On the other hand, my local favorite store won't hire me until I'm eighteen. I guess until then I can do repairs for my friends.

Illmatic 08-13-2005 04:44 PM

"New place" called Guitar Center?

Where do you live, exactly?

Shaft! 08-13-2005 04:46 PM

Charleston, South Carolina. I know it's a big chain, but we consider it new. It just opened this past Friday. 92% off on most merchandise... Live performance by a local Guns N' Roses cover band...I wish I could have made that.

ATM 08-13-2005 04:53 PM

Chuck Levins > Guitar Center

MBS 08-13-2005 04:55 PM

92% off most merch?

Gee, I wish I was there too.

Not that you're biased or anything, right?

Also, I think I've found a semi-job for the remaining two weeks or so of summer: doing oddjobs for my old boss. He gave me 50 bucks for about two hours' worth of work yesterday, so I could be in bid'ness.

ATM 08-13-2005 04:57 PM

Well, maybe I am biased, but we do have awesome prices.

Like Mesa Boogie won't even sell to us because we were selling their merch for such a low price.

They thought it made them look bad.

You're not kiddin'... $399 dollar Ibanez 24 fretted with tremolo was cut down to $99.
The Gibsons were down too. I was impressed.
My summer job was volunteer work...I got paid in food.

That's quite a gig.

Shaft! 08-13-2005 05:27 PM

That's a sweet deal.

Illmatic 08-13-2005 05:36 PM

It certainly is.

He like me a lot (as if you couldn't tell), which is why he gave me a job in the first place.

I think the most I ever got paid for any bit of work was twenty dollars for gathering my neighbor's mail. Some people get better luck.
I should start working at a local Bi-Lo when I turn 16 in December.

Oh my, they lowered the Gibsons?

That's not like Guitar Center.

Shaft! 08-13-2005 05:56 PM

I do not lie. They lowered the prices on the Music Man basses too.
Honestly, it was the first time I ever got to play anything like I had. I got to jam for a bit on a Stingray, a Gibson Les Paul and S.G., and a Gothic Explorer and Flying V from Epiphone.
Selection is beautiful. I creamed myself about, but the noise level was deafening. I will never go at 12:15 on a Saturday afternoon ever again.

 Holy crap, what price are they at now?

Shaft! 08-13-2005 06:05 PM

The lowered them roughly to around $800-$900. It only lasts this weekend though. :upset:
They have to make the Grand Opening nice and big so that they really gain attention among the music community here. Our smaller stores are rather worried, but some are convinced that people will still come to them for the conversation. My fav. spot still has a beautiful flame-top Showmaster with dual Seymour Duncan humbucklers and 24 frets with a set neck for roughly...I think it's $569 right now.

MBS 08-13-2005 06:06 PM

Especially with all the little kids who turn up distortion and volume and play "Smoke on the Water"

Ugh.

Shaft! 08-13-2005 06:07 PM

There was one kid who was playing a very nice American Tele who butchered "Smells Like Teen Spirit". His father was excellent, however. They'll listen and learn someday.
