That song owns so badly. Some of the best lyrics ever.
Meh. I think it has incredible lyrics but it's never been my favorite for some reason. I felt the same way about Subterranean Homesick Blues for a while too, but then one day I just realized how incredible that song was. I think the same thing may happen with It's Alright Ma. I probably just need to listen to it more. |
*bumped*
Some say Subterranean Homesick Blues was the first rap song, just with the audio presentation of how fast it is. |

I thought Blondie - Rapture was considered the first rap song?

It's a good song. I'm hooked on "Old Man" by Neil Young right now, I have it on repeat.
|
So anyways. Live 8. Deep Purple sucked in Toronto. Unfortunate.
|
I slept through Deep Purple.

Yes! That's my favorite song to play on my acoustic. And yes, Deep Purple did suck :( |
I thought Blondie - Rapture was considered the first rap song?
It's the first rap song by a white woman, anyway. Deborah Harry was like a modern-day Gwen Stefani :) But the real first rap song is usually considered to be "Rapper's Delight" by Sugar Hill Gang. Good song, that. |
bob dy;ans voice is unique which is why i enjoy it.
Except Deborah was way hotter. And "Rapper's Delight" owns. |

That song brought me to a stark realization once. I was riding in the car with my friends Molly and Alyssa, and I asked them to tun the radio station to 98.7, knowing full well that it wasn't what they were looking for, and that song came on, so I said "Oh I love this song!" and they started laughing like I made a joke or something. Like: "Haha, good one Manda, you're so funny" At that moment I realized that these people would never understand me :upset: |
Except Deborah was way hotter.
And "Rapper's Delight" owns.
Rappers Delight owns because it rsampled the bassline from Chic's Good Times. Chic is the greatest disco band ever. |
Except Deborah was way hotter.
I beg to differ there. |
I beg to differ there.
I concur |
Why? Do people think it's strange for a girl to like classic rock?
Hey, people think it's strange for a black guy to like classic rock, too...actually, people think it's strange for a black guy to like any music other than rap, for that matter. :-\

I'm sure if you had a fro and dressed like Jimi Hendrix people wouldn't doubt you Or dreadlocks for that matter EDIT: I never really thought about that before, (I don't usually because I am from New England and there are very few people that aren't white, my high school has 4 black people, about 10 Latinos, and we are very proud of our 1 Japanese kid ) But you never see any Black metalheads or anything on TV, just as rappers, or maybe the old guys as Blues guitarists, but never rockers |

This thread has been slowing down lately.
Don't tell me you all got lives  |
Its true, a lot of young people are actually getting into classic rock, i know i am. I love cream, beatles, the who, chuck berry, bachman turner overdrive, the doors, zeppelin, etc. I am sick to death of all the bullsh*t that is considered to be music knowadays.

Pink Floyd-Pink Days and the Fat Old Sun (DSotM live in '73 and Careful with that Axe Eugene and Cymbaline live in '71) Pink Floyd-Rarities and Archives vol. 2 Radio Sessions Spirit-12 Dreams of Dr. Sardonicus (thanks to lunch for the review that made me get this) The Best of Canned Heat The Best of Booker T and the MGs The Yardbirds-Five Live Yardbirds |
Good finds :thumb:
Are those Floyd things bootlegs? |
Is the Yardbirds CD the original lineup?
Which lineup is it? |
Good finds :thumb:
Are those Floyd things bootlegs?
It says Rarities and Archives on it. And its live. The second one, Radio sessions is early stuff with Syd, and some other unreleased stuff during the early 70's. It is the original Yardbird line up. |
