 I've realized that the prefix necro is always funny, and the suffix o is also always funny. Take for example:

Necrosaurus
Necromatic

and basically anything with an O after is funny.

Luncho
RiceMonstero
Illmatico
YDloado

:D
What are you talking about?
I thought you were calling me an attention whore for posting the Necrophagist discography.

He was talking about himself, you ass :p

They were talking about being the center of attention.
Haha, those are some great song titles.

stop being a cunt, it was harmless.

Also, note the TEN MINUTE GAP between his post and mine...
Are you an idiot? He was actually discussing the actual topic we were talking about, not just randomly baring in here with some unrelated crap. Alex started talking about how he liked being the center of attention, then we were commenting on it.

Why would I say that? Why would I care about that?

i am the robots 08-12-2005 11:33 PM

My bust, sorry for jumping to conclusions :upset:, it just so happened that the discography was the first thing I posted when I logged on, and then he posted that directly under mine.

Moses 08-12-2005 11:35 PM

Jake, you've got all 5's for you're post count!!

Ok, I concluded today that no matter what my power metal voice sucks.... Tried singing Nevermore in the car but it just didn't flow. I had to try too hard and that made it sound bad. Thanks I'll just keep singing Tool and Deftones.

EDIT: Maybe not though because we're covering The Trooper and my voice sounds fine on that.

MBS 08-12-2005 11:51 PM

Has anyone been to Disneyland or Knott's Berry Farm in California?

Knott's has some good roller coasters.

So does Six Flags.

To develop a good voice for power metal, what I'd advise you to do is buy a book on musical theater, or take singing lessons in the genre. It will help you develop the strong, melodramatic tone that power metal usually requires. Think Michael Kiske, Fabio Leone, or Ronnie James Dio.

Anyway, yes I admit to being an attention whore. :D

To further that goal, my dad and I are trying to get ahold of that street magic DVD I mentioned the other day, and I'm ordering a Black Tiger deck for myself.

For those who don't know, Black Tiger decks are specially designed for performers. They're printed negatives, so the card faces are solid black with pure white and red pips, and two-tone backs. They're slightly more expensive because of the higher quality of the card stock and finish. I've seen demo videos, and seeing those things in action is absolutely mesmerizing.

Moses 08-13-2005 12:24 AM

I know what I need it's just that the singer from Nevermore was in a bad range for me because I already do sing musical theater on my own (West Side Story mostly). If I were to do power metal then I'd have to do it in a lower range because my voice just simply doesn't soundgood attempting it. Think of Maynard of Tool trying to sing power metal or Chad Grey from Mudvayne or Chino from Deftones. My voice is most similar to those and it just sounds horrible in a certain range trying to get the pompus operatic sound. I'll eventually develop that part of my voice but not right now.

It's fun to know a few Greek suffixes and prefixes, then combine them! So Necrosaurus would be "death lizard," good one! :)

Necrophobic = afraid of death.

Necrorhinophobia = fear of dead noses.

Necroclaustrophobia = fear of encroaching death.

Necromusophobia = fear of dead mice.

Necroclaustrorhinophobia = fear of encroaching dead noses.

Necrosaurophilia = love of dead lizards.

Necrogymnoapiophobia = fear of dead naked bees.

I love this stuff.

Okay, I'm assuming what you mean is that you have a good dirty tone, but your "pompous operatic" tone isn't as full developed?

Have you tried listening to Sabaton yet?

Also, I never asked. Are you a tenor, baritone, what?

Moses 08-13-2005 12:50 AM

I'm like between tenor and baritone but mostly baritone. I have a good dirty tone and a good clean tone but my operatic tone lacks technique so I just do what comes naturally, and I push harder and it sounds like crap. I could do a Jazzy/prog style clean and many types of dirty but the power vocals sound like crap. I'll work on it though. I need to expand on this.

I guess what I'm saying is I need to find the spot in my voice where it works because singing normally doesn't.

/goes to bed

Steerpike 08-13-2005 12:56 AM

That's sort of why I recommended listening to Sabaton. Very Manowar-esque power metal, and their lead vocalist is sort of a cross between a theatrical singer and Lemmy.

Kwash2 08-13-2005 02:01 AM

Sonorken is on a freaking ban/close rampage tonight.

MBS 08-13-2005 03:06 AM

"Hallelujah" by Jeff Buckley is an amazing song.

evilmenhavenosongs 08-13-2005 03:48 AM

It's a really sad song. :( Which makes it so good. Eternal Life is one of my favourites as well.

I can't believe I'm awake at half 10, I had a really good night last night. I smoked though, first time. I figured I would see what it was like because I don't have the opportunity, the funds or the inclination to smoke regularly. It wasn't bad, I drew the line at the cigars though. First lesbian experience as well. :shifty: And I've decided I'm not gay. :p

the2stranger 08-13-2005 10:10 AM

^
you should really try cigars, way better than normal cigs (yuck)
and tell me about your lesbian experience? :amaze:

is it just me or is AIM down?

evilmenhavenosongs 08-13-2005 10:18 AM

I don't use AIM at all. And MX is being a bitch today, so boring.

The fag was alright, I might end up having the occasional one when I'm out but it won't even be as often as once a month.

Tip: Don't play truth or dare when drunk. Or actually, do play it, it was fun.

Dr. Jake Destructo 08-13-2005 10:20 AM

Just you, 2stranger.

Me playing truth or dare:

the2stranger 08-13-2005 10:20 AM

you are a girl, or am I wrong? :p

MX is boring indeed, and slow as hell, or is it just me?

evilmenhavenosongs 08-13-2005 10:36 AM

Yeah, I'm a girl. I should be finishing getting ready to go out and face the people I was with last night.

Cringeworthy.

Walrus Gumboot 08-13-2005 10:50 AM

You really have to watch out for those male lesbians

Dr. Jake Destructo 08-13-2005 11:10 AM

What exactly happened?

Shred Danson 08-13-2005 03:03 PM

Good morning (?!), I've finally decided to log on because I really have nothing better to do today. So anyway, I guess I'll tell you aboot my band's show last night because I really like annoying you with boring stories about my band and personal life, etc...

So anyway, last night was my band's first show with me playing lead guitar, we went on first, played with five other bands, mostly hardcore kids so we stuck out like a sore thumb. Hardcore kids will be a recurring theme in this story, so let this be a warning. Anyway, a bunch of the tr00 n3kr0 kvlt AND kr13g dudes showed up to support us, which was awesome because the rest of the crowd would have been just hardcore/nu-metal hippies. I guess we did pretty good, teh crowd was getting into our music, which was defenitely shweet...We finished the set, and watched the other bands, two of which we were cool with...while another band played, a friend of ours got into the hardcore dancing pit just for the sake of hilarity, and some guy purposely (we know it was on purpose because the dude was bragging about it) kicked the friend in the face, and started fighting him, saying he touched his rug or something incredibly stupid like that. So a bunch of the hardcore kids "unified" Captain America-style and ganged up on him, and just randomley attacked my bass player as well, there were easily three of them taking Lucas (bass player) down, and I got into the fight, a couple other friends got into the fight, some dude got hit by a friggin' chair, and it got broken up. Lucas went out for a smoke to calm his nerves when a buddy and I saw a couple of the punks that attacked him head out there, so we went to make sure they weren't going to start anything, and yet another hardcore group stopped us and said "we're in this together, bla bla bla let's kick the air, not faces (something hardcore of the sort), but we just don't want to get the cops called on us and have this show shut down, so drop it. Oh by the way, our band is on next, come watch us".

So yeah, quite an eventful evening for me. Sorry if I seem irritable today, but I'm still upitty about the whole thing...

/lesbian talk

There was some drunken lesbian action goin' on at the show :) . Made me happy  .

My room is disgustingly hot at night, my legs always stick to the sheets. I hate it.
