They're gonna tour in November and early 07.

deadohiosky9 05-01-2006 09:52 PM

Maynard said they would be back for a full US Tour and not to be bummed out about missing them this time around.
Maynard said they would be back for a full US Tour and not to be bummed out about missing them this time around.
Sweet, thats good news for me and about 7 other people that I know of. The show here sold out within 3 minutes.

EinzingerIsGod 05-01-2006 11:13 PM

Well I just got my copy at the midnight release. And it's pretty awesome.

penelope weird hands 05-02-2006 01:08 AM

Woohoo! I get my copy tomorrow, when I get paid.

Plus, it's already sitting, waiting at JBHiFi's. :smoke:

The only thing I have seen is the artwork, as my mate has had it since a few days, and it looked awesome. I wonder how they done it with those lenses.

RideTheSpiral 05-02-2006 01:26 AM

Man those live mp3s suck.

Reywas 05-02-2006 01:29 AM

I thought they were quite good. I like The Pot and Jambi more now after hearing those.

taylormemer 05-02-2006 01:36 AM
I wonder how they done it with those lenses.
It's pretty simple. If you take two very slightly different photographs of a scene or painting and focus them with a lense then the brain will perceive the scene as having a depth of field. A similar system is used at the IMAX theaters.

This process is called stereoscopy and was discovered in the 1830's.

As for this album I am finding it very enjoyable. It's different and is growing on me logarithmically. I can't seem to pinpoint a favourite track(s) but Wings for Marie is a beautiful eulogy.

penelope weird hands 05-02-2006 01:55 AM

^ I see, thanks man. Very interesting stuff.
I really think artwork should have a lot more effort put in by bands(in general), like 10,000 Days.

Not necessarily using the same techniques but, uh, you know what I mean?
Make it interesting and something you can attach to the music during a listen.
Obviously bands try to do this but.. more effort damn it! ;)

Anyway.. can't wait to blast this album tomorrow.

Spiritofmosa 05-02-2006 01:58 AM

yeap.. and downloading albums dont get you no art

taylormemer 05-02-2006 02:00 AM

^^^
Precisely.
I said that this morning actually. I can't wait for this to be released on vinyl.

borisdablade 05-02-2006 03:38 AM

I love getting the cd in your hands, for me I just have to buy an album if I like it enough. As for the artwork to me the lenses are a bit over the top, to be honest I would have much rathered the inclusion of lyrics.

nowitzki 05-02-2006 05:28 AM

I love the album artwork. The CD is well worth buying just for that (as I'm sure a lot of people wont bother buying it if they downloaded the leak.

Stoo 05-02-2006 06:34 AM

What the fuck is Viginti Tres all about?

5 minutes of nothing.

kurrpt 05-02-2006 06:34 AM

thanks a million for those live mp3s :thumb:

I should have my copy in less than 4 hours

incubliss 05-02-2006 06:36 AM

The 3D images are so so so good. I had a headache from looking at them so much though! My eyes were quite sore.

Don't look at them for too long. The one of Danny in 3D is the best one I think, or the man with the ball & chains.

So... What are people expecting for the new video?

Also what is the relevance of Adam Jones standing in front of the ocean on guitar world?
The lyrics of Vicarious didn't remind you of those pictures?

I got my copy about an hour ago. Been looking through the artwork, best album artwork EVER? Possibly. Just due to the fact it has those lenses, amazing stuff. I was just like this isn't working very well on the first couple of pics, then I got to Danny and I was blown away. Very cool stuff. Once I got Danny it all clicked and everything became really clear.

The album sounds very very slightly different from the leak, possibly due to quality.

Anyone got any links to those movies that isn't megaupload? I can't use that due to being on a network at Uni.

Shadius 05-02-2006 08:18 AM

Such small clips :(

Oh well, cool stuff regardless. I'll watch them after listening to the album through.

I SHOULD be doing a 3,000 word essay for friday, mind you.

wecuucus 05-02-2006 08:24 AM

the new album is ace! On about my 10th listen!
Its no Aenima however, but thats no surprise. Still got some great tracks on even if the guitar spoils things for me in certain places.
Maynard has defo taken his circle influence into his vocal harmonies!
no 8 is the track for me! wots it called............? i cant remember

Can't remember? Blame Hofmann.

The track is called Rosetta Stoned. Listening to it now, it's really growing on me. Very different for Tool.

And to be honest, he can't really influence himself. Regardless of APC he would have experimented more with harmonies due to the fact he's becoming even more of an amazing vocalist.
