Suicide eh? Not over a band that I cant help but laugh at every time I listen...I guess I did almost die from laughter so thats a possibilty. Maybe the label scout killed himself after realizing he actually got them signed.
Or maybe Jacob Bannon is reaping in the benefits running his own label, designing cover art, making art of his own and writing highly acclaimed music. |
yes, you did in fact give me Petitioning the Empty Sky.
Yet you like NH more? |
petitioning is their only album worth listening to
|
Jane Doe is best for this guy
|
I dont find anything listenable about it. For about 30 seconds on each song theres a pretty cool passage or riff, but then the rest of it comes in and everyone is trying to be louder than the other.
And how the vocalist can be considered anything but horrible is beyond me Niflheim did you kill yourself or what? Just curious if I should obey you  |
Will you shut the **** up until you get a real argument?
|
How is that not real? Thats the impression I get from their "music". You havent argued how they're better than what I think so there really isnt one.
Why dont you tell me what makes them so appealing to you. |
All you're saying is "oh they're so noisy and loud and jacob bannon is horrible"
|
I know you were targetting Tyler, but I find Converge extremely enjoyable for a number of reasons, mostly emotional connection, lyrical content, their creativity, and their catchiness.
And I want to know what's so "noisy" about this: http://youtube.com/watch?v=Wd0jVjChLwk |
I dont see what is so great about "YAYAYA!! YAYA!! YA!! YA!! YAAAAAAA!!!!"?
What sort of talent does it take to just scream into a microphone? I dont feel that yelling incoherently counts as a form of musical talent. And noise (an unpleasing sound to the ear that can result in physical agony) is all that comes to mind when I hear the music...Minus the 30 seconds I spoke of before. So anyways...Why do you like them? What makes you enjoy them? |
The fact that you think it's noise leads me to believe your ear is ridiculously untrained.
|
I dont see what is so great about "YAYAYA!! YAYA!! YA!! YA!! YAAAAAAA!!!!"?
You're saying you can't make out any of his lyrics? Are you even paying attention? I know he's a bit more incoherent than some, but wow. |
I try to pick out the words but the sound of his voice doesnt help either. I like it when a vocalist actually makes an attempt to annunciate...Mikael Åkerfeldt is a vocalist, not Jake Bannon. My ears are perfectly fine.
Its like a paradox, how anal most of you are about music, yet enoy something like Converge...and you still havent said what you like about them. |
i really enjoy the vocalist in the group Kill Switch Engage, fantastic chaps.
|

Can you understand Skinless' shitty *** singer?
Its like a paradox, how anal most of you are about music, yet enoy something like Converge...and you still havent said what you like about them.
Did you ignore my post addressing this sir?
i really enjoy the vocalist in the group Kill Switch Engage, fantastic chaps.
Howard or Jesse? |
the black gentlemen that does the gospel vocals is utterly fantastic. do you think perhaps i could do a recording with the ol' chap?
|

The perfect blend of rage, technicality and passion. Their music serves as an excellent catharsis and can be taken on many levels. Jacob Bannon's vocals are as earnest as any, and the "rarara" of their later albums perfectly cohesive with the ferocious drumming and dissonant guitars. They've evolved beyond "hardcore kids with rehashed slayer riffs" into a venerable powerhouse, seemlessly blending metal and hardcore without sounding like they belong to either. |
I enjoy for a number of reasons, mostly emotional connection, etc
And I want to know what's so "noisy" about this: http://youtube.com/watch?v=Wd0jVjChLwk
No actually I didnt see this, but I was talking to Cocaine to begin with. It touches you emotionally and right on, good for you I can respect that. What was so noisey about it? Well min. 1:08 to about 1:40 was extremely noisey for me...The constant b-movie screeching and dissonance of the notes is just too much. The opening wasnt too bad but the second the vocals kick in its over. More isnt always better edit to Coke: Thank you for finally stating your full opinion. I still disagree with you 200% but its whatever. |
The vocals are amazing.
1:08-1:40 is groovy as **** too, and the bit after is gnarly. you're crazy. |
I'll be crazy then
|
I can see the breakdown at like one minute as being "noisey" but how is the clean bit after that noisy?
Like, 1:18-1:40. |
so is converge an acquired taste, or a band that you either love or hate the first time around? i seriously dont remember how i felt about them to begin with (given that i adore them now)
|
First time I heard them I was blown away.
|
more liek wtf this ain't bring me the horizon
|
but the first time i heard dat band wuz last spring n i waz into converge way b4 that
 |
Man, the opening two songs for Jane Doe is what I heard first. Best introductory songs for a band ever.
And Jacob Bannon uses his voice as a textual instrument and fits with the music perfectly. I suggest you listen to the song Jane Doe when Bannon sings clean; it melds perfectly for the music sonically and thematically. |
i hated converge the first time i heard them (You Fail Me), then i grew to love them after listening to Jane Doe
|
First Converge album I heard was Unloved And Weeded Out, so Downpour was my introduction, and still is my favorite Converge song, well tied with Orphaned and Heaven In Her Arms.
|
Conduit is their best song
|
It's good but for some reason I really love Drop Out. It's from my least favourite album but dang its cool.
|
converge is, unfortunately, one of those bands i've gotten into purely by downloading their albums, so i never learned the names of their songs, so i always feel left out when people namedrop, but then i listen to the songs in question and i'm like "fück yeah"
|
The one I'm talking about the the 4th track from You Fail Me.
|
fück yeah
|
Conduit is their best song
Definitely. |
when i first heard converge i was just like 'wtf is this atonal pile of ****'
|
I still think that after a 100 listens.
|
dont bother, everyone doesnt have to like everything
just dont bitch more about them =/ |
best converge song is either dead, farewell note to this city, or color me blood red
|
If you call yourself a fan of metalcore but you don't like Converge, then you are obviously ****ing retarded.
