SimonCore 06-08-2006 09:32 AM

So is cult the only new song on the EP?

Drone 06-08-2006 10:37 AM

Yes.

The Buttloaves 06-08-2006 10:49 AM
The guy who said the anit-slayer stuff please don't make things up that aren't true. you've maybe heard a few slayer songs and until you've heard the majority of them don't make up comments that aren't true.
Ok, shithead, I'm not anti-Slayer, I'm a Slayer fan, being critical of their music. Because I'm a fan, I have to like everything they do? And they may not be satanic, but I don't know what else "Learn the sacred words of praise, hail Satan" is supposed to mean. Would it suit your fancy if I said their "lyrics" are "satanic"?

Nostalgia 06-08-2006 01:27 PM

It's an image that goes along with their music. It may be to sell albums, or just for shock effect, who knows?

Every band has a certain image that pertains to their music. Some actually fall through with their musical image, but Slayer don't. They sing about satan, anti-Christianity because it scares people, it gives them the thrill and the haunting. You've got to understand that these kind of attributes sell albums, and increase popularity.

I believe Tom is even Roman Catholic.

Bazarov 06-08-2006 01:31 PM

But when you say that every song they have to make a point about Satan, and it isn't true, you're going to catch flak. They've written songs about getting drunk, and playing rugby as well.

Also, Tom has noted that back in the 80's talking about Satan and Hell was still a taboo and not many bands were doing it, so they did it for attention.

Nostalgia 06-08-2006 01:40 PM

See they right about Nazis, too!

I wonder why Britton doesn't post in here anymore...

Rattlehead 06-08-2006 01:44 PM
Are you serious? GHUA is really, really, terrible.
no, i really do like it. what's your favourite?

is it true that despite tom's satanic lyrics, he is in fact a christian? i heard that a while ago on this thread. i dont see how he justifies his to his god, if believes in him. im not religious, it just seems strange to me.

Nostalgia 06-08-2006 01:47 PM

I know his Father's a Roman Catholic, and he says it still "Has a place in his heart."

On Slayer's old site someone asked him, and he talked about his belief in an all-loving-God.

I thought he was Cathloc.

AA-12 06-08-2006 03:36 PM

Catholics believe in an all loving god kind of. (they are idiots though)

Bazarov 06-08-2006 03:55 PM

I don't know much about Catholics... that's just what I remember reading.

Inpropagation 06-08-2006 04:05 PM

The 2 new slayer songs suck. :(

Well, I take that back, Jihad is decent to pretty good even with the gay intro.

eug008 06-08-2006 04:12 PM
I bought Eternal Pyre earlier.

EDIT to CAC: Cult is amazing. One of my favorite songs now.
Could you Up the vids?

Have you listened to any other albums? Because that album truely isn't their greatest. I suggest buying Hell Awaits. Though the recording is terrilble, it sounds like they're playing in a tin can, but it also adds a sort of "Haunting" factor to the album. After that I'd get Show No Mercy.

Well, I really suggest anyhing but GHUA and Diabolus In Musica. The rest of their albums are great. But Divine Intervention is just okay.

AA-12 06-08-2006 04:38 PM

/listens to Jihad

EDIT: Where can I find it?

Nostalgia 06-08-2006 04:39 PM

I haven't listened to it yet. Hows it sound?

eug008 06-08-2006 04:45 PM

I can up the new Sampler for you guys this arvo (When i get back from school) It has

1.Cult (Radio Version)
2.Eyes Of The Insane
3.Jihad (Radio Version)

AA-12 06-08-2006 04:46 PM

Where'd you get it?

Inpropagation 06-08-2006 04:54 PM

I got mine from KT.

Bazarov 06-08-2006 05:15 PM

Gah! I must hear... someone...
OKAY nevermind, I found a link to download on slayerized. Also I guess the new album is going to be called The Final Six... I don't like that name.

Man, Slayerized is on top of their game. They also have tabs for Cult, the lyrics to it, and the full track list for the new album.

Man, Eyes of the Insane was horrible.

Listening to Jihad....

And Jihad sucks for that first minute.... but it really has started picked up.

Nostalgia 06-08-2006 05:48 PM

"It's fast, heavy — maybe faster than anything we've done before. It's going to be brutal. It's what everyone expects from a Slayer record." (Tom Araya)

"People won’t be disappointed. We’re not going to come out with something completely different." (Tom Araya)

Wow, look what Tom said. He seems pretty confident.

Bazarov 06-08-2006 05:49 PM

Tom, I am people, I am disappointed. :( Jihad was pretty good though if you ignore the first minute.

Nostalgia 06-08-2006 05:54 PM

Though you can't tell the whole album just by the first couple songs, it's not really likely that their tone will change through the album.

Bazarov 06-08-2006 05:58 PM

Have you heard the other songs?

I'm pretty sure that this album is going to blow.

Nepenthe 06-08-2006 06:00 PM

I don't know, I like Jihad and Cult better than anything they've done since 1990. But that's just me.

AA-12 06-08-2006 06:46 PM

I'm DLing the sampler.

TEST 06-08-2006 06:48 PM

I thought you bought Eternal Pyre

AA-12 06-08-2006 06:50 PM

I did, only Cult is on there. So far this new sampler is cool. Jihad is really good.

TEST 06-08-2006 07:05 PM
