Actually it doesn't... Listen to Dave...

Anyone seen She-Wolf live off rude awakenings?......Best live song ever.
Anyone seen She-Wolf live off rude awakenings?......Best live song ever.
Yeah its pretty freakin amazing.

fatbandit 07-04-2005 09:51 AM

Psh it sure did when I heard it. I didn't hear much of the song, but hey. What do I know, eh?

RiceMonster 07-04-2005 10:53 AM
Its not actually them its a fake :thumb:
Yep, just like that song that's supsadly(sp?) Megadeth and Metallica (Hunger). It's a fake as well.

RustedPieces 07-04-2005 11:55 AM

Megadeth will never do a cover of a Metallica song and Metallica will never do a cover of a Megadeth song. I highly doubt it anyways.

MAthiAS 07-04-2005 12:13 PM

Metallica wouldn't be able to cover a Megadeth song. I'd love to see Lars and Kirk try though.

Mazeppa 07-04-2005 12:15 PM
Metallica wouldn't be able to cover a Megadeth song. I'd love to see Lars and Kirk try though.
It would be funny.

 imagine that.. ... .. Holy wars played at half speed

fatbandit 07-04-2005 12:31 PM

I think they would. Sure, they're in decline as musicians, I believe, but if my friends who have been playing guitar and drums for like 5 years can play Megadeth songs, then I'm sure Metallica could...? Its not like Megadeth are untouchable, though they are very good :)

:smash:

RiceMonster 07-04-2005 12:33 PM

 I would love to see Kirk try and play some Freidman solos, while Hetfield plays Mustaine's solos. Hanger 18 slop fest.

Marty Friedman is a virtuoso, and Lars can't even play his own crappy songs.

fatbandit 07-04-2005 12:47 PM

I don't personally know the actual peak of either Friedman's or Hammett's playing. Either of them could possibly blow away anything they've ever recorded, but just choose not to. Who knows? I mean... Jack White could potentially own both of them, but we just never see his talent due to his brand of simplistic rock. I hope I made that clear enough...?

But its not the fact that Friedman is a better guitarist than Hammett. To be honest, I think he is. However, that's not to say Hammett couldn't play any Megadeth songs. I think he probably could. I'm sure, by the same token, that James could probably play a lot of lead parts. I have nothing to judge him by, but he has been playing guitar in a metal band for over 20 years. I would assume he'd pick up a skill or two in that time.

Lars... That's a different issue. He can't play Dyers Eve up to speed (half speed double kicks live), so yes, he may well get owned by some Megadeth songs. I just don't know though, at the end of the day.

I'm not trying to stir up trouble, don't hate me :)

Dude3 07-04-2005 12:52 PM

I agree with the Fatbandit.

But why the hell can't Lars play his own songs?

MAthiAS 07-04-2005 12:53 PM
I'm not trying to stir up trouble, don't hate me
I know what you're saying and you're probably right about Hammett playing Megadeth solos, but I'm pretty sure he'd have a hard time with any Cacophony.

And Lars is just a crappy drummer and a crappy person, he couldn't do it, and while Megadeth had some good drummers, its not like asking someone to play Flo Mounier stuff.
But why the hell can't Lars play his own songs?
That's basically referring to the fact that he can't play Dyer's Eve.

metal-guitar, haven't seen you around forever, what the hell is up bro? :)

denboy 07-04-2005 12:56 PM

I doubt James could play any of Dave's rythm parts.. I mean, James is a killer down picker, but he couldn't alt. pick if his life depended on it

Mazeppa 07-04-2005 12:58 PM

Been offline with computer troubles, and then my hard drive was wiped, could you link me to Josh's site? Good to see you by the way.

Cheers bro, and back into favourites it goes.

Dude3 07-04-2005 01:10 PM

Oh, I understand that Lars can't play Dyer's Eve. But, why not. Why all the sudden did he lose his ability to play it. It seems weird.

MAthiAS 07-04-2005 01:13 PM
Why all the sudden did he lose his ability to play it.
1. He's old and Danish.
2. He never could play it.
3. He never will.

Huber 07-04-2005 01:17 PM

Lars just simply keeps a simple beat, he isn't very talented at all. He can't even play the double bass in One, and any monkey can do that.

Edit:

I looked back a page, and well, what song are you guys doing? I could try and lend a hand with the drums if I find the time.

BTW, the reason the Tool guys are so ahead is because they have Rounder and Matter. Those guys are like a secret weapon. Though they are now compiling tracks without them.

Holy Wars, Take No Prisoners, potentially Five Magics and Peace Sells.

fatbandit 07-04-2005 02:11 PM

I'm still up for recording Five Magics by the way on bass if I can be bothered, and find out I can actually get a good recording sound

I ain't got the best setup...

I also think, just because Hetfield is fairly masterful in his ways of Palm musted downpicking, doesn't mean he can't alternate pick. I'd assume you could pick that up from playing for over 25 years eh?

:smash: (and yes, I like that one. Its my 'sig' if you will. I'm from the bass forum, and I mostly post in there. I could see it might look a little odd if you don't know me :p)

Dude3 07-04-2005 07:15 PM

Guys, I need your help. I'm learning "Holy Wars", and I'm on the second electric solo. I'm using the guitar tabs from an old issue of Guitar World. I have a rip in the magazine, and I can't read out the tabs correctly.

Okay, so in the second electric solo: The 5th fret is bent up a full step, and slowly released. Does it hammer on to the 9th fret, or pull-off to the 3rd? Its in the first bar of that solo.
Thanks

MAthiAS 07-04-2005 07:31 PM

Pulls off to the 3rd.

I'll record a sample of Five Magics later tonight, right now I'm working on that damn interlude part. Fuck you Marty Friedman, fuck you.

Thanks man. at the Five Magics thing. If I work hard, I'll have Holy Wars done by the end of this week. I'm doing some other things, so it will probably take me that long.

Five Magics 07-04-2005 07:45 PM
It's a shame we don't have a drummer that's ready to do a track.. That's why the Tool guys have it so easy, they have a couple of drummers with the ability to record
Im trying to get a good recording program to download in order to do the drum tracks, can anyone suggest any? take no prisoners will be a challenge to do it flawlessly, but it will be done

Everyone including myself has Audacity, its pretty good for free software. Get it at http://audacity.sourceforge.net

denboy 07-04-2005 07:49 PM

I can recommend cool edit pro 2, if you're into... . Illegal downloading

Definately

Vincent10790 07-04-2005 08:45 PM

Metallica and Megadeth are both great bands, but does Dave Mustaine does not always get enough credit. Metallica is thought of as a much better band by some people. I think that Dave Mustaine is a better thrash metal guitarist than Kirk Hammett. Am i the only one that thinks this, or what? For the people that say Kill'em All is their favorite metallica ablum, should be huge fans of Megadeth. This is not always the case. What do you think?

Huber 07-04-2005 09:04 PM

That has been discussed so many times, it should be against the rules.

Such an overdone question, and its pointless to ask in this thread.

Awesome, I thought the sample you did was excellent.
