Anyway....am I the only one who's continually amazed after listening to Abbey Road all the way through?

No I'm probably equally amazed. I remember the first time I listened to Abbey Road, I was blown away by how well they could actually play their instruments. Hell, even Ringo had a (little) drum solo! At the time I had only heard songs from their earlier albums, so I wasn't used to them making full use of their instruments.

The riff of I want You (She's So Heavy) is one of my fav guitar riffs ever.

Seafroggys 05-02-2005 11:24 PM

When I first Abbey Road, I wasn't exposed to hardly any music outside the beatles, so I was instantly mind blown beyond proportions. Since it was on cassette, I got really lost during the medley. It was Sun King, then all of a sudden Paul sang "She came in through the bathroom window." THe things about Abbey Road that stands out the most is the drums. Yes, I am a drummer, but Ringo has the best sounding drums of all time on this album. Sweet stuff.

Her Majesty really makes abbey road for me, If it wasnt for her majesty the listening to the albumn would make me feel incredibaly sad, the first time i heard it, after hearing "the End" i went, ****... that was there last song and i felt sad, but then Her Majesty came on and i just thought "what a way to go out". and then felt happy

Iron_Weed 05-03-2005 02:58 AM

Just learnt to play I am the Walrus! What beatles song should I learn next?

clown_phobia 05-03-2005 03:00 AM

Let it be

Iron_Weed 05-03-2005 03:03 AM

Will do. Has one of my favourite solos of all time (ruined on naked in my opinion).

clown_phobia 05-03-2005 03:07 AM

Good stuff :thumb:

GeorgeHarrison 05-03-2005 05:05 AM

I think the solo on let it be naked is better.

magicbus 05-03-2005 01:44 PM

Yea, I've been listening to Abbey Road a lot. It continues to amaze me.

Walrus Gumboot 05-03-2005 01:57 PM

I listened to it for the first time last summer. When I heard the Sun King for the first time I heard the crickets in the background and turned off my CD player to see if the were real or not, and the crickets in the beach grass just kept on chirping. It took me a while to realize they were recorded

That was the song that got me into The Beatles. I was like, whoa.

Leper 05-03-2005 02:55 PM

big thanks to all who actually voted for me in the RMOTM thread. I was content just to get a nomination, let alone a couple of votes. Hell i was even surprised i actually got nominated.

magicbus 05-03-2005 02:58 PM

I'm pretty sure I voted for you, sorry if I didn't.

Sun King is a great song. I love the guitar intro, and the echoey effect it has throughout the song. Plus phaser. It's very awesome.

Can somebody list which instrument each Beatle plays? I know Paul=bass, John and George=Guitar, Ringo=drums, and they all sing, but I'm not sure who does the piano and keyboards, or any other instruments they might use.

TheDMV 05-03-2005 03:02 PM

I think its like

Paul - Bass, Keyboards, Guitar (I think just on taxman)
John - Guitar, keyboards
Ringo - Drums, Percussion
George - Guitar

I Hope that helps :thumb:

no need to apologize, i was just happy to actually be there. :p I'm pretty sure John plays keyboards and piano, Paul might've on some tracks. Don't know who plays harmonica on songs like "love me do"..my guess would be Paul.

magicbus 05-03-2005 03:06 PM

George Martin played that funny keyboard solo on In My Life, if I'm not mistaken.
