So what cd should i get next

Countdown To Extinction IMO

Apocalyptic Raids 04-19-2005 11:39 PM

So Far, So Good... So What!

ThrashMaster27 04-20-2005 12:45 AM

I don't see how KIMB is similar to Kill 'Em All. The rhythms are a lot more tricky on KIMB and the leads are wackier. I'd say KIMB is more an album with Dave on his own, seen as how he wrote all the songs and did 9 of the 13(?) solo's. Rust In Peace had a few co-written stuff with Ellefson and Marty did a hell of a lot of the solos. Anyway it matters little, I can't decide which album I like better out of the two.

One things for sure though. So Far, So... So What! is one of the most underrated Metal albums. Also, it's a shame that KIMB had such thin production, but I guess that's Daves fault for spending $4000 of the $8000 they had for production on drugs.

I really like SFSGSW, probably my favourite 'Deth album...

Apocalyptic Raids 04-20-2005 03:28 AM

One thing that annoys me about SFSGSW is how Anarchy In The UK comes straight after Set The World Afire.

i'm enjoying STWA and then FUCK! Anarchy In The UK comes on, which makes me sad in the pants :(

Deth 04-20-2005 08:27 AM

Ewww...your pants are sad.

wrongnote85 04-20-2005 11:17 AM

yeah, that usually makes my pants sad too. i just skip over it and go straight into mary jane. i've always done it that way, and when i'm playing the album in my head in class it goes in that order--just right over anarchy in the u.k.

IAJP 04-20-2005 11:20 AM
Uhh... what? I've always felt Peace Sells is a bit overrated, but its definitely a thrash classic.

Meh, KIMB is awesome, Dave just took the stuff that he wrote and used it, its not like he stole any of Metallica's work.
Meh, it's all opinion, I like PSBWB? a lot, but it isn't as heavy as some of Megadeth's other stuff.

This is my opinion, Dave had a hand at writing some of the songs on K'EA, so, he obviously wouldn't have wanted that to go to waste, so he kinda borrowed some of the stuff, know what I mean?

OMG I KNOW!!!

It's like, the cd starts with into the lungs of hell, which is an awesome opener, then STWA keeps the momentum going, but anarchy just kills it. I know dude i feel the same.

IAJP 04-20-2005 11:27 AM

Anarchy is a horrible song.
It's a bad song in the first place, but what the hell was Dave thinking trying to cover it?
It really slows down the album, but Liar, Hook In Mouth, In My Darkest Hour, Into The Lungs Of Hell And Set The World Afire are all awesomely cool songs.

Arise II 04-20-2005 01:09 PM

I don't like the original, but I think the 'Deth version is great. I really don't see why so many people are always badmouthing it

IAJP 04-20-2005 01:16 PM

A punk song covered by a band specialising in Metal and Thrash was bound to go down badly.

Arise II 04-20-2005 01:29 PM

Notnecessarily, considering Thrash owes a lot of it sound to Punk

IAJP 04-20-2005 01:32 PM

Jesus...
I didn't think of it that way.
You win that argument hands down.
:upset:

MAthiAS 04-20-2005 01:38 PM

I like the Anarchy cover a lot, even more than the original because they put more energy into it. Dave said he and the band were listening to lots of punk at the time, so they covered it.
Also, it's a shame that KIMB had such thin production, but I guess that's Daves fault for spending $4000 of the $8000 they had for production on drugs.
How metal of him though.

IAJP 04-20-2005 02:25 PM

It's true.
He even said of Peace Sells, the album could have been better had he not have wasted the production money on "Non-Musical Things"
:p

Apocalyptic Raids 04-21-2005 12:42 AM

The Peace Sells production isn't that bad anyway.

Chu 04-21-2005 01:23 AM

Same, SFSGSW just has the best songs, to compare it to another abum, I would compare it to Metallica's Ride The Lightning, in the sense I can listen to the whole thing without skipping one song.

I reckon Mustaine sings best on SFSGSW too, I dunno why, I just think he has teh best sound :x

I liked Mustaine's voice best on Peace Sells... .

ThrashMaster27 04-21-2005 05:55 AM

I think he sounds best on Cryptic Writings. But for personal preference I'd say Peace Sells aswell.

Deth 04-21-2005 07:42 AM

Peace Sells has the best vocals IMO.

Lord Abortion 04-21-2005 08:44 AM

vocally countdown and rust in peace are best IMO

Deth 04-21-2005 08:45 AM

High Speed Dirt brings CTE down for me.

btoto 04-21-2005 08:46 AM

Vocally So Far So Good So What is the best.............IMO
High Speed Dirt brings CTE down for me.
how??

I love that song and even if it is a bit cheesy... psychotron more than makes up for it

VicRattlehead99 04-21-2005 01:29 PM

i would have to say that SFSGSWhas best vocals in my opinion

VicRattlehead99 04-21-2005 01:30 PM
High Speed Dirt brings CTE down for me.
i agree i just dislike that song but yes psycotron more than makes up for it.

MAthiAS 04-21-2005 01:32 PM

High Speed Dirt is one of my Deth favorites.... How can you not like it, its like Skin O My Teeth with more solos.

Best vocal album is Cryptic Writings... Dave's vocals are definitely better on the non thrash albums.
