Downloaded some of this Dungeon stuff you guys were talking about last week. I really like it. Are there albums widely avalable?
Cheers for that! :)

You should be able to get A Rise To Power, One Step Beyond in most of the places you'll find LMP releases (Amazon.com too, etc.) and the new re-released Resurrection album in October.

If you get stuck, drop the guys at LMP a line and they'll help you - they have an online store too: http://www.limb-music.de

if you like Children of Bodom (this might not be the right thread to do this in, but screw it), there's a band my band's played with called Destroy Destroy Destroy that's really great, I think they're going big soon...they don't have an album out, but they have a myspace to listen to a few songs at.

You are gonna so love that DVD..
Be sure to have a Kleenex handy....
Put it on now, and then you tell us all what you think

Shattered_Future 09-20-2005 01:37 PM

I watched a few clips from it...

The Kinslayer was good. The buildup of crowd noise right before the intro bursts in was brilliant, yet the song was pretty standard Nightwish fare.

Wanderlust, one of my favorite songs from Wishmaster, had pretty much the same effect as it does when i heard the recorded version...it's awesome. The stop in the middle is brilliant as well.

The video for Sleeping Sun was WEIRD. Why the crap is a bathtub in the middle of a field? Song was the same as always...one of the best Nightwish ballads ever.

However, The Pharaoh Sails To Orion reminded me of why I love Nightwish so much. It was PHENOMANAL. Everything was spot on, and brilliant...the subtle little changes added SO much more to the song, such as Tuomas's new piano part or the awesome long outro to the song.

From what I've seen so far, this is your next best bet to seeing Nightwish live. Buy it now.

What defines Power Metal, May I ask?

Kronos 09-20-2005 01:41 PM

He He - preachin' to the converted, man.
I thought you'd like it. Wishmaster at the end is cool too...
Pharoah Sails To Orion has never been one of my faves tho' :upset:
What defines Power Metal, May I ask?
Traditionally, its fast, uptempo, happier music. Usually with a keyboardist, however, there have been instances without. Also, generally the singer has a clean singing voice.

When did you stop being MX Nightwish Fanboy, and start munching foetuses?

Ever since me and my friend entered the death metal competition with our 2 man side project, Fetus Munchers. The name is a tribute to those of the extreme metal genre. :D

You want the WHOLE DVD? I'm not gonna do that...

If you want one video, I'll see if I can do that, but...

1. I don't know how to get videos offa the DVD yet. Haven't ever tried it.
2. I don't do anything for free (cept help people with personal problems...this doesn't count as one).
3. I don't have a contact address.

You provide me with 2 out of 3 of these, and I'll see if i can help. Not today though, got a ton of work to do.

So May I dare say that Dream Theatre are Power Metal

Also I checked some Nightwish out, they seem pretty good

Steerpike 09-21-2005 11:19 AM
So May I dare say that Dream Theatre are Power Metal
Nope. Dream Theater are progressive metal.

ktululu 09-21-2005 11:25 AM
I think many Power metal lyrics aren't really that cheesey, SA ones are pretty good, NW lyrics, are, IMO, virtually devoid of any, Stratovarius is prob. more guilty on that score, as are Hammerfall, but the bands with the worst, cheesiest lyrics are poppier, "hair metal" - type bands, like VH or, worse still, Kiss. I bloody hate lyrics that lamely tell me to "Rock all day, Roll all night" or say "These are crazy, crazy, crazy, nights!" then compound the insult to my intelligence by shouting "All right!" as the rhyme. That I really detest.
Not too much of that thoughtless, cop-out crap in PM
ManOwar are the Kings of cheesy, meaningless lyrics!

"May your sword stay wet, like a young girl in her prime" is the best lyric of all time.

Lord Abortion 09-21-2005 01:09 PM
Nope. Dream Theater are progressive metal.
However, Symphony X are Prog/power
