not similar style, but the uncontrollable insanity of each others music, at least that's how i hear it. |
So you don't have to, here is lightning bolt:
Clunk clunk Widdly widdly Clunk Clunk Bang Bang Waaahaawwhaa Bang Bang Crash Clunk Clunk Weeeeeeooo Weedley zap Clunk Clunk Hah! Bump bump Hah! Bump bump bump Hah! Clunk clunk Weedley Weedely grazzzzh
 I love Lightning Bolt, but I have to admit, that was hilarious. Between The Buried and Me are like, the best band ever. |
I'm finally digging Pavement, after years of non-diggage. Their music never really appealed to me, but I've been listening to Slanted & Enchanted lately, and it's a great album. So uh, hooray for Pavement.
|
lately i've been listening to:
Elliott Smith Cab Calloway Ben Folds Morrissey Oasis |
Two words: William Shatner.
|
This week I have been mostly digging X Japan's Art Of Life. It's a 29-minute long song with some awesome instrumentals (including a fantastic 6-minute piano solo), and it's one of the few completely English lyrics they ever wrote. The drumming is immense too, and the guitar work ain't slackin'.
I'm gonna write a review of it today. |
Right now I'm digging Explosions in the Sky... I'm not really familiar with this type of music, even though I've heard heaps of good stuff about it. So I decided to check out Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place, and fuckdamn it's a good album!
I did get a little bored during some bits, but for the most part it's really good. |
Two words: William Shatner.
Excellent. Today (all three hours of it I've been awake) I've been digging Bjork, mostly Homogenic and Medulla (which was rescued from the CD player earlier today). |
Today (all three hours of it I've been awake)
Please note that Bartender lives in Britain, and this message was posted at 8PM, GMT. Students. /is actually jealous |

They are a fun band in small doses. Nothing more nothing less. |
Next Exit is my favourite song off Antics. It's good stuff.
|
I've started listening to Cursive again. I forgot how awesome they were.

Congrats, both of you. Post-rock > sex.

Also I've been listening to the song Safe From Harm by Massive Attack. A lot.
'The World Is Not A Cold Dead Place' was my introduction to post rock. And its all thanks to this forum otherwise I would have never heard of them. I'm pondering over what other post rock albums to get. I've heard alot of good things from Godspeed You Black Emperor!, Mogwai, Do Say Make Think, Sigur Ros etc. etc Any recommendations? |
Gddspeed is the logical step after EiTS. It's just the way things are done.
|
I like Explosions more than Godspeed.
GSYBE! is alot more random noises and computers. They're good, but sometimes I get bored with them really easily.
I just checked out some Cursive songs...pretty decent stuff.
:thumb: |
Cursive > all other bands not called Hot Snakes & QOTSA.
|
Gddspeed is the logical step after EiTS. It's just the way things are done.
i went in reverse (which is the correct way, honestly), cause without Godspeed i probably would never have liked EiTS. Godspeed is more story driven in their epic songs. EiTS follows a more straightforward approach to like a "short" poem. |
Post rock = overrated.
