Classic Rock radio stations usually suck, even when you only have general knowledge of the genre.

RockAndRoll 07-03-2005 05:48 PM

Ya, they do play an insane amount of terrible songs especially when the government regulates how many of them must be canadian...

ATM 07-03-2005 06:09 PM

Lunch, what do you think about 94.7?

Are you serious? They do that? I couldn't imagine...

Yep. For the modern rock stations, they'll play some good stuff, then something like Our Lady Peace, Nickelback, or Three Days Grace. I barely listen the radio anymore. I got my good ol' reliable computer for all my music needs :)

np: Roy Orbison - Pretty Woman

ATM 07-03-2005 06:22 PM
Really? I can't get enough of it

What's your avatar?
Some random picture I found. I thought it looked pretty cool.

Don't get me wrong, I love Neil Young, I just don't dig Mirror Ball that much.

That is suprsingily facist for Canada

Have you ever heard "Rattled" off of Traveling Wilburys Vol 1? Orbison does the best purr

I didn't think there was a Vol 2.

They do that becuase Canada is becoming America Junior. The govenment wants to keep a nationality, and at least have some Canadian products/entertainment.

Yeah, I can kind of see that as a problem. EVn though it has many similarities to America, I prefer Canadian media by far. You don't realize what a bubble America is until you visit Canada
Lunch, what do you think about 94.7?
If I have to listen to the radio, I'll listen to that station. As radio stations go, it's decent.

And as far as I knew, the Travelling Wilburies had a Volume 1 and 3.

Glitterati 07-03-2005 07:54 PM

You know, that's what I meant to say. They didn't have a Vol. 2.

lunch998 07-03-2005 07:58 PM

Some people are too cool to count regularly.

Broken Arrow 07-03-2005 08:38 PM

Toronto's classic rock station is pretty good. They play have Pyschedelic Psundays and Beatles Breaks and stuff. Not too much Stairway either.

I've been listening to the Doors all day.

Glitterati 07-03-2005 08:51 PM
Some people are too cool to count regularly.
That's me alright.

I love Psychadelic Sunday.

Broken Arrow 07-03-2005 08:58 PM

It has to have a P in front of the Sunday.

Psunday, see?

lunch998 07-03-2005 08:59 PM

I avoid listening to the radio, unless I'm driving with friends in which case I have little to no authority over the music selection.

Illmatic 07-03-2005 09:01 PM

If I'm too lazy to pick a CD to listen to, I'll just listen to the radio.

Broken Arrow 07-03-2005 09:04 PM
If I'm too lazy to pick a CD to listen to, I'll just listen to the radio.
Is your usertitle from anything inparticular? I have a friend who always says that.

Illmatic 07-03-2005 09:06 PM

Well, it's the title of an ODB album, but I've always liked saying it.

Leper 07-03-2005 09:48 PM

They're not classic rock, but i just got coldplay's new album, and it's definitely worth the purchase if anyone was wondering.

NP: CCR- I Heard it Through the Grapevine

Badmoon 07-03-2005 09:55 PM

I dislike Coldplay...but I do like The Meat Puppets ;)

ATM 07-03-2005 09:55 PM

I can take Coldplay in small, small doses.

lunch998 07-03-2005 09:56 PM

I never saw what was special about Coldplay, but it's good to hear you got a new CD you liked.

Illmatic 07-03-2005 09:56 PM

The Meat Puppets are better than Coldplay.

Badmoon 07-03-2005 09:59 PM
The Meat Puppets are better than Coldplay.
This is true.

In fact, the Meat Puppets are better than a lot of bands.

Even though their lead singer is arguably tone deaf.

That's a great song. I like Coldplay.

Leper 07-03-2005 10:05 PM

I'm not really familiar with the Meat Puppets, are they more or less the same style as coldplay? It's funny, when coldplay first came out with Yellow, most people i know hated it, but i kind of kept quite because i kind of liked it. At the time it was different from what i was used to, but i liked it.

Illmatic 07-03-2005 10:09 PM

The Meat Puppets are not like Coldplay.

Badmoon 07-03-2005 10:12 PM

Yea, the Meat Puppets are nothing like Coldplay.

Meat Puppets = Cowpunk/Alt. Country Rock

Leper 07-03-2005 10:13 PM
The Meat Puppets are not like Coldplay.
Do you think you could be a little more helpfull? :p

ATM 07-03-2005 10:13 PM

Wow, Cowgirl In the Sand is an awesome song.

Leper 07-03-2005 10:15 PM
Yea, the Meat Puppets are nothing like Coldplay.

ahh, i gotcha.

ATM 07-03-2005 10:16 PM

What did you guys think about Deep Purple's preformance at Live 8?

RockAndRoll 07-03-2005 10:28 PM

I like coldplay, I think they need to mix up their style now though.

Powderfinger Rocks 07-03-2005 10:46 PM
They're not classic rock, but i just got coldplay's new album, and it's definitely worth the purchase if anyone was wondering.
Agreed. I bought it the day it came out. Awesome album. What's your favourite song on it, leppermessiah? Mine's White Shadows.

Classic Rock Band: The Eagles

Leper 07-03-2005 10:54 PM

I've actually only listened to half of it and haven't really picked a favourite song yet, but once i listen to it more, i'll get back to you. All of the first 6 songs are awesome though.

Glitterati 07-03-2005 10:55 PM

There's a tribute to Queen on MuchMoreMusic right now. Axl Rose, Robert Plant, Elton John, David Bowie....a bunch of people singing Queen songs with the original band backing them up. All going to AIDS research, too.
