Underoath, and August Burns Red are really good metalcore bands to get started off on as well. I'd suggest trying Post-Hardcore prior to Metalcore though since Metalcore can be a little harsh to a newcomer. Heaven Shall Burn and Caliban are two other fantastic metalcore bands, though, it might be a little much for a someone who's just being introduced to metalcore.
