Reject college for happiness if you have to, dude. Everything in life comes down to happiness; that's what everyone is striving for at the base of every action. Do whatever it takes to get there.
Word. This coming year is my last year in highschool and I'm starting to seriously consider whether going straight to college is a good idea...
uhh, guys....where'd the mailing list go? I click the thread called "Mailing List" and I get the vs. thread.

But I am damn glad we have the HECS system over here so that we don't have to pay our tuition fees up front and make fucked up decisions like that, like you unlucky bastards.
Technically, you don't have to pay up front here either. They have loans and ****. Personally, I've been very lucky to have a lot of financial support so I haven't had to deal with the headache. I'm told the system works. But in the end, you basically end up like most students: in debt.

As for sr800bk, I'd say at least consider the schools your parents want. Yeah, yeah, the part of me living in Northern California (an hour away from mountains and the ocean) says there's no better place to be. But who's to say those midwestern schools don't have something to offer? Ideally, if you can get to any school in a nice, diverse city, you'll have good experiences.

College will likely help you get to the places you want to be in your professional life. Like Littleman said, it's not the absolute to personal success and happiness. But it sure does help. Alls I'm saying is at least be open to other possibilites to the things you have in mind. But if you can finagle your way up the coast...

YDload 07-25-2006 11:22 PM

You should definitely wear it because you're probably cool enough to get away with it. Just be really sarcastic about it, like WEAR it with sarcasm. Body language can say a lot about how ironic you dress.

Also I had one more thread I wanted to make in the Pit before it went away but I never got the chance to :(

Yeah, I guess we just end up with slightly less debt because ours is deferred through tax.

P.S. I'll be in debt for at least a couple more years.

Dog 07-25-2006 11:23 PM

if you don't wear that ironic shirt you're not indie

Little Man being Erased 07-25-2006 11:25 PM
I went thrifting today and bought a Good Charlotte shirt for ninety cents. It fits me really well but should I actually wear it?
Yeah, you should wear it. But cross out "Good" and write "Bad."

Robert Crumb 07-25-2006 11:26 PM
Yeah, I guess we just end up with slightly less debt because ours is deferred through tax.
Yeah, I think this is where most American students get comparatively screwed over. Although like I said, I'm golden. Pays to be a minority, literally.
Yeah, you should wear it. But cross out "Good" and write "Bad."
This is what I was going to say. Or try to deface it in some way to say God Speed You! Good Charlottes

Robert Crumb 07-25-2006 11:32 PM

Alls I know is you can't not wear it now. If anyone gives you shit, you should make out business cards with links to MX.

FA 07-25-2006 11:45 PM
OK so I have a problem

I have a folder with a lot of songs in it. So many songs, in fact, that whenever I try to get into it, it freezes. However, in order to take songs out, I have to get into it. What do I do?
what if you tried to zip it up and extract induvidual songs?

and btw, how many songs are in it that it cant be opened.

Scuba_Steve 07-26-2006 12:10 AM

I dont really see why it would freeze, it's not like your trying play all of them at once.

But yeah, zipping could have the same effect.

Zappa 07-26-2006 01:05 AM

Try defragmenting.

I'm finding it very difficult to get into anything post-punk.

YDload 07-26-2006 02:11 AM

Okay this was gonna be a Pit thread (the last one ever!) but I'm just going to squeeze the question in here instead:

If you could be any one of the characters/puppets in Pee-Wee's playhouse, which one would you be?

I would be Clunky because he can beatbox like a motherfucker, plus he's made out of turntables, boom boxes, and always knows the secret word

This is true.

Whenever I go thrifting with a friend of mine, she always picks out these awful t-shirts for me to wear, like those t-shirts that have pictures of majestic wildlife on them and stuff  She's like "just wear it ironically, dear."

I also saw one shirt that said "All Star-Negroe Baseball League." I was tempted to buy it ironically, but then I realized I would get unironically lynched.

I never find anything cool at thrift stores. I went with my friend a few weeks ago and we found funny beanies. She bought one, but I didn't because I'm scared of lice and the like.

telemore 07-26-2006 03:42 AM

Hi guys.

I'm just gonna say that nacho isn't 'bitchy.'

:p
I never find anything cool at thrift stores. I went with my friend a few weeks ago and we found funny beanies. She bought one, but I didn't because I'm scared of lice and the like.
I've found a couple cool things, mainly really ghetto blazers, homemade t-shirts or cheap VHS. I got A Clockwork Orange for 1$ once.

ATM 07-26-2006 09:52 AM

I always run across the street to Salvation Army when I am bored at work and buy random tapes for a quarter each.

I've found some gems, including some They Might Be Giants, Ghostface Killah, and the High School High soundtrack

biografiend 07-26-2006 09:58 AM

Last time I went thrift shopping I found this ravishing dress that fit amazingly well for $1 and would have made me the coolest bitch on Haight&Ashbury. The place where I usually go smells like piss though and is filled with people who are probably homeless. :/

Dog 07-26-2006 10:06 AM

My goodwill finds include suspenders, a gold belt, magic wand, a shiny jacket, a sombrero, and a poncho.

overall i've lived a pretty successful life.

ATM 07-26-2006 10:16 AM

Magic wand, eh?
