after reading last 2 days worth of messages...
someone link me to this artwork jazz. I wont be able to see it till tomorrow |
So... most importantly, does the album version of Right in Two say "Timmah!!" at 6:01?
|
I'm guessing yes.
|
Haha, I love how both the reviews on amazon.co.uk were so certain that the track listings were 'obvious jokes'. Anyhoo, despite all the negative comments I'm liking it. Obviously needs more listens but so far so very good
|
ill let ya know tomorrow for sure.
As for the last half of the album, I really like Rosetta Stoned. I would say i give the first 1/2 more attension, but its way to early to make lay any claims about the album. I feel any TOoL fan talking shizz on this album is due to the fact they ASSUMED certain things, only to be proven wrong with the release |
I went out and bought mine this morning. Second listen, on Jambi right now.
First impressions are that it has some really good parts, but the whole thing isn't gelling for me yet, it's not striking me as a singular piece of work. The band really seems to groove better than they have before, and Justin's bass work throughout the record was a nice surprise. I think I just need to give it time, get familiar with all the songs - Lateralus took me ages to 'get' so this may be a grower too. I don't think I should have listened to Vicarious as much as I did, though. Also, the stereoscopic artwork is incredible. It took my eyes a while to focus but when I relaxed and looked again at Adam's picture it all came together perfectly. The only one I can't seem to focus on is the eagle picture. |
It's impossible for me to give any sort of opinion after my first listen. Although I do know that the solo people seem to dislike in Jambi is one of the highlights for me. And The Pot sounds like an Undertow track.
10/10 for the artwork/3D pictures, they look amazing once your eyes adjust. THe glasses make the whole CD package a bit bulky though ^^and im having trouble with the eagle one too, just seems distorted to me. The one with Justin and the eagle though is the best, almost life-like |
is all the art work done by alex?
|
Yes, I think it is done by alex. I got the album yesterday and the artwork is amazing, I love it. The eagle picture is a bit strange though....I'm so desperate to see Tool live! :(
|
The drawing/paintings are Alex, not sure if the pictures are by Adam, or Travis Shinn, but they are in the same vein as the ones Adam put up on his MySpace.

Anal Dwelling Butt Monkey!
Tomorrow.. I get the cd tomorrow.. That's about 22 hours from now...22.. So, tomorrow I will be getting the cd. Then, I will proceed to listen to the tracks from 10am to 7pm when I promptly get out of work. Finally, I will be heading home to set up my Tool "10,000 days" Listening/Pow-wow Party.. *Note: For those who are *not* cool, a Pow-Wow is a party in which responsible individuals gather around with a huka (loaded with marijuana of choice), snacks, and visual stimulates to enjoy themselves...and in this case listening to the new Tool as well.. |
yea, im picking mine up tomorrow at noon
|
i love 10,000 days, but right now i listen to Lateralus and i have to say i like Lateralus more... but then i realized that you can't compare them!
10,000 days is too different; there are soundscape i love and never heard in any album before. but then lateralus uses sounds i love too... for me (from now on) there don't exist a "favourite" tool album - it depends on your mood and how you feel. on some days i prefer "Aenima", then on others "Lateralus" and "10,000 days" is once again a completly different feeling. its great :thumb: |
yea, im picking mine up tomorrow at noon
Same, tomorrow is my day off, gonna drive outta town and get it. |
I'll go tomorrow and buy it as well. I'm actually very excited considering I'm not really a big Tool fan (yet).

:amaze: you're venturing out of classic rock!!! |
Haha, yea I guess I am. I've always liked a couple modern bands here and there, but for the most part I've been getting into much more obscure prog/psych, which I guess is 'classic rock'. Just don't make me sound so close-minded :p

I'm just joking with ya. Glad to see you getting into Tool, next thing you need to get into is Death Metal. |
Man I hope not, haha. No offense to the Death-heads out there, but that really isn't my thing.
|
So I got 10,000 days today and I can't really put any words to it yet. It is just so different and I'm just going to wait for it all to sink in. As somebody else pointed out, it will probably take a while to get into just as Lateralus.

It nobody's thing until they listen to it and start to like it. |
how the FUK can these 'tards make such outlandish claims about the new album, comparing to an album thats been out for 5 friggin years.
Idiocy? me thinks |

i just find it amusing that these will be the same people that retract their statements, only to say its the BEST in a future retard post/statement |
I'm curious if anyone here has seen one of these. I was at a radio station last night, and they showed me their advanced copy of 10,000 Days. It had like a tab with lenses on it that is used to view the inside artwork with, it made it all 3-D and stuff. It was pretty neat.
I nabbed a picture of it with my phone, so the quality is pretty crappy. http://img209.imageshack.us/my.php?image=image0031yj.jpg Just thought some of you might find it kind of interesting. |
I really, really appreciate the photo man, i was curious
|
I really dig the artwork for the album, and there is so much of it. I want some of Alex Grey's work.
|
thats not an uncommon response. Check out his website

Well Chaps I Havn't been here for a few days, being from Ireland I got the album on saturday and as you can Imagine I've been spending a lot of time in my room!! lol .and so im not just making an "OMG LAWLS!!" post I'll give you all the quick capsule review of a seasoned listener, I have had the album for 3 days you know!!
Well when I first heard it I found it was lighter than I expected, purly because everyone has been going on about how there was a big meshuggah influence and the reviewers said that it was the heaviest album since Undertow. I don't think it's very "Heavy" Id say more....tribal?...earthy? Im clutching for words here sorry!!! Im REALLY happy with it, it's different and adam has a sweet talkbox the solo on "Jambi" and "Right in two" is so.............arousing!!!. Overall the album is kinday spacy/trippy/relaxing with rockin out in between!!! As for the artwork...........BEST I'VE EVER SEEN..without a doubt!! I see the surprise was ruined on previous pages but I'm sayin nothing for the people who still don't know anything about it!!! (save the surprise, it blew my mind!!) PS. I havn't got the chance to jack off to it yet, maybe tonight, I'll keep you posted!!!!:naughty: :thumb: |
