No, it's very bad actually.

MaidenMadness 07-02-2005 02:25 PM

why whats wrong with john paul jones?

Glitterati 07-02-2005 02:29 PM

I'm watching Live 8 in Barrie, Ontario.

Sting is on.

Sting is cool.
why whats wrong with john paul jones?
Zeppelin fanboys overrate him.

MaidenMadness 07-02-2005 02:36 PM

true but then again most fans do that with members of their favourite bands
true john paul jones was the weakest part of led zeppelin but you must remember that the rest of them were one of the best musicians on their instruments
so of course jpj might seem weak when placed alongside bohnam, page & plant

Glitterati 07-02-2005 02:44 PM

Our Lady Peace is covering Leonard Cohen? Wow...

Walrus Gumboot 07-02-2005 03:32 PM

Maroon 5? Rockin' In The Free World? This is most likely bad news that Neil will not play it :upset:

Glitterati 07-02-2005 04:00 PM

Only, like, two minutes until Floyd....I feel like I'm about to explode.

Glitterati 07-02-2005 04:22 PM

Yes! They're on!

*orgasms*

Woodstock 07-02-2005 04:27 PM

Wow, they did a great job. Reunion tour?!?!?!

3rdplanet 07-02-2005 04:28 PM

Robert Plant was the weakest part of Zeppelin IMO. His lyrics sucked and his voice was sub-par on some of the later songs. JPJ may not be the greatest bass player there is (though talented none the less) he is a fantastic composer (as shown in his solo albums) and is exceptional on keys and mandolin, as well as several other instruments he uses on his solo albums.

/end rant

jpj 07-02-2005 04:31 PM
Wow, they did a great job. Reunion tour?!?!?!
Maybe after realizing how awesome they still are and how many people would pay a small fortune to see them they will.

Woodstock 07-02-2005 04:32 PM

Yea, JPJ was actually quite pivital in Zeppelin.

Illmatic 07-02-2005 04:33 PM

I can't believe that fag Rob Thomas almost ruined "Higher Ground"

/is the only person who cares about Stevie Wonder

lunch998 07-02-2005 04:34 PM

Yes, everyone knows this.

Stevie Wonder is the man.

Glitterati 07-02-2005 04:36 PM

Stevie Wonder rules. Bah, I have to go to work now, I'll have to catch a re-run for everything else.

Stevie is awesome, Songs in the Key of Life is absolutely amazing.

wanton 07-02-2005 04:59 PM

McCartney was awesome. I liked when everyone came up on stage and sang, but I wish he would've played the whole "Hey Jude."

Walrus Gumboot 07-02-2005 05:13 PM

Today was a good day for Classic Rock.

Indeed.

Glitterati 07-02-2005 06:23 PM

****!!! No!!! I ****ing missed Neil Young! **** **** ****!!!! No!!!!!

thickasabrick 07-02-2005 06:35 PM

Today I was walking home from the library and as I was crossing the street a car sped through the red light going like 20 over the speed limit. I had to jump back to get out of the way, then a car (who had a green light) smashed into the speeding car. They both flew towards me and once again I had to jump out of the way. They both came flying within like four feet of me on either side. One spun completely out of control and hit a street light and the other had its entire engine like ripped off. No one was hurt though.

But anyways...the book I got from the library was like an awesome tab/sheet music book with tons of great songs in it. You know those books you pay like thirty bucks for? Well you should check out your library because mine rents them out for free, I just discovered this today. Just thought I'd let you guys know, maybe save some money. I'm learning Here Comes the Sun, but I can't find my capo.

edit- and what songs did Pink Floyd all play? I only saw a clip of Money.

Glitterati 07-02-2005 06:41 PM

That was an awesome story. They did Speak To Me/Breathe, Money, Wish You Were Here, and Comfortably Numb.

Illmatic 07-02-2005 07:15 PM
****!!! No!!! I ****ing missed Neil Young! **** **** ****!!!! No!!!!!
What? Neil Young performed? Aw, crap...all I saw was Maroon 5 covering "Rockin' in the Free World" poorly.

lunch998 07-02-2005 07:32 PM

I didn't see any of it, I'm just waiting for it to come up on the internet.

Phew, what a night.

lunch998 07-02-2005 07:42 PM

/leaves jizz on keyboard.

And I didn't even watch Live 8.

BludgeonySteve 07-02-2005 08:14 PM

Heh, rockin' in the free world by all of the Canadian performers was so sloppy. Still good, obviously.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 07-02-2005 08:18 PM

Pink Floyd were amazing. I just wished I didn't have to sit though 6 hours of music I didn't enjoy to much to hear it. (but it was well worth it)

jpj 07-02-2005 08:54 PM
I didn't see any of it, I'm just waiting for it to come up on the internet.
I think you can watch the performances on aolmusic.com if you sign some Live 8 petition or something.

lunch998 07-02-2005 08:59 PM

I can't find a way to skip the crap performances and get to the good stuff.

Daniel! 07-02-2005 10:53 PM

bumpo

I just bought After the Gold Rush. Great album.

lunch998 07-02-2005 11:32 PM

I just wrote a mini FA on Jefferson Airplane for my new weekly series (all the metalheads are doing it, I figured I should join in).

I liked it. Too many people only know them for White Rabbit and Somebody to Love.
I liked it. Too many people only know them for White Rabbit and Somebody to Love.
Bah, I know what you mean. Surrealistic Pillow is an album that you should listen to all the way through.

So, I'm going CD shopping tomorrow. I'm going to HMV, and they have a deal on some CDs that's 3 CDs for $30. Under that deal, I'm planning on getting an old David Bowie album, Oasis - WTSMG, and maybe an old Neil Young album.

Glitterati 07-03-2005 01:18 AM
Heh, rockin' in the free world by all of the Canadian performers was so sloppy. Still good, obviously.
I liked that performance. Neil's not looking too bad, for a guy who just had a brain aneurysm.

thebigyin 07-03-2005 08:29 AM
I have always been a classic rock fan. The first band I really liked was Led Zeppelin. From there I started to get into Rush, the Who, Van Halen, Pink Floyd, Boston and Cream. Now I'm more into progressive metal, but I still listen to classic rock from time to time.
Surely Pink Floyd and Rush are more Prog than Classic Rock?

Mind you, there seems to be a lot of crossover between the 2 genres around that time.
