Haha thanks.

I feel it more like Autumn.
yea it has some sort of isolation to it
anyone here think disposition makes you think about winter?
Yea, In a way.

Otherside 04-29-2006 09:38 PM

Makes me think of Spring, actually. Maybe I'm just weird.

BlindWriting 04-29-2006 09:42 PM

For me music usually has some season feelings. With Opeth, I feel autumn mostly, with Sigur Ros, winter. Sometimes it's not the music itself, but it's when I first started listening to it. PT's In Absentia makes me feel warm and summery because that's when I really discovered the band.

Tool however is an exception. The only images I get when I try to visualize their music (outside the context of their videos) is some... indescribable holy plane of existence. Or something.

I've decided that I absolutely hate how The Pot comes right after 10,000 days. I hate it. They have this subdued, moody atmosphere going, and then suddenly this piercing wail comes out of nowhere and ruins it.

I agree, that song should have either came before Wings/10,000 days or later in the album.

Werny 04-29-2006 11:28 PM
Yeah...
I noticed that too.

Lame.
I know I worded that horribly but it is really similar. Except that Danny's china sounds incredibly weak.
anyone here think disposition makes you think about winter?
Makes me think of Autumn because the leaves change colors and you can watch the weather change.

Also I've noticed that on 10,000 Days they always put a soft song after a heavy one or a heavy one after a softer one. Just something with a completely different mood. They have Jambi and then Wings for Marie. They have 10,000 Days and then The Pot. They have Rosetta Stoned and then Intension...it's a bit dynamic I guess.

I think it should have been 2nd. After Vicarious.

Rounder 04-29-2006 11:46 PM

omg i just saw a best buy ad for 10,000 days on tv. i feel so giddy inside. That was ****in awesome...

PeEpHoLe_10 04-30-2006 02:48 AM

Got the album today. Not sure how i exactly feel about it yet.I like it,but it just needs time to grow i think. The artwork with those lens things is ****ing amazing.

infinate_ammo 04-30-2006 03:19 AM

This album just keeps getting better

borisdablade 04-30-2006 05:12 AM

I too got the album today, and I also am not quite sure what I think about it. It could be that I am horribly hung over, and lets face it tool isnt the best hangover cure. I do know that I have found some of the songs to be a bit self-indulgent. I'd say Vicarious, Jambi, The Pot and Right in Two are the stand outs on first listen, but that may change when I get to properly wrap my head around the rest.

Spiritofmosa 04-30-2006 06:19 AM

Ok now reality check..Tool sounds the best when you are high

Clunge 04-30-2006 06:21 AM

Jambi is fantastic.

deadinholywood 04-30-2006 06:25 AM

Had 10,000 days playing all day at work today, its grown on me a bit but i need some more listens yet. Anyone else think that the atmosphere on Wings pt 2 sound strangely like Neurosis, paticularly the songs from "The Eye of Every Storm"

Duman 04-30-2006 07:57 AM

Omg.. Wings/10000 days is so beautiful.. I didn't think much of it the first time.. now I'm listening with headphones, have the lyrics out, it's so emotional
:upset:

Drone 04-30-2006 09:50 AM

I can't wait for this to come out! I have only heard Vicarious, as I am restraining myself from downloading it, but it is so hard! :p

Piercing? lol

There's nothing piercing about any of MJK's vocals, save for maybe the Third Eye shouting. That is probably the most piercing his vocals have ever been for me, with the backing music.

Anyway, I couldn't disagree more. The moody atmosphere has to be broken sometime and after 17 or 18 minutes of Wings sounds like more than enough time to me.

It may be out early in some shops, that's how I got my copy yesterday

Syncratic 04-30-2006 10:23 AM

I'm feeling a little disillusioned with the fact that so many people are disappointed with the album, even to the point that I may not like it.

What do you guys think?

gmoneyguy 04-30-2006 10:37 AM

I love the new album.

randomthought9 04-30-2006 10:40 AM

So far I think it's pretty solid. I don't know if it's as good as Lateralus or Aenima, but it's up there. I haven't listened to it enough to decide.

Most of the negative comments i've seen have been followed up by the same people saying DT suck, or that SOAD's last release had more emotion than the new Tool release, and other similar comments.

The people on here that have given mixed feelings towards the albums tend to be the ones who it's slowly growing on. But I can give my opinion in just under 14 hours :)

Syncratic 04-30-2006 10:46 AM

I suppose you're all right.

I might not get it the day it comes out, but definately within the week.

randomthought9 04-30-2006 10:50 AM

This album seems like one that'll grow on you, like the more you listen to it, the more you'll like it, IMO.

Dancin' Man 04-30-2006 11:08 AM

I was disappointed so I wrote a review. 3/5 for 10,000 Days.

I read it, it was good.

But it worries me that the album may in fact be a bunch of rehashed riffs and such. I don't want that.

You'll enjoy parts of it on the first listen, but it won't all sink in.

From there... well, you'll either grow to love it, or not.

I'm really enjoying it personally.

That's true, I'm loving the album. I listen to it everyday.
