I love the ones with the band members, especially that mirror in Maynards.

haha im picturing a tool fanboy sitting on his bed wearing the goofy lenses trying to look for clues within the album booklet
haha im picturing a ool fanboy sitting on his bed wearing the goofy lenses trying to look for clues within the album booklet
Well, that pretty much how it would look. But looking for clues in relation to what, I might ask? Not every single thing that Tool does has to have a hidden meaning behind it or be cryptic in some way. Some things can just be enjoyed because they are cool, you know.
I should send you some Lila Downs. Being the only other Lhasa fan on here, you'd love her.
Go for it dudebro. letmypeopleho69@yahoo.com

Spiritofmosa 04-28-2006 11:43 PM

any hidden meanings or re arranged tracklistings ?

Werny 04-29-2006 01:40 AM
Keep trying man. It took me a while before I could see it properly, but it's cool when it works. Everything will be really clear when you've done it properly. You kind of need to de-focus you eyes.
I realised before that it's my left eye, it's legally blind and yeah doesn't do what it's told. I think I know what you mean, like you have to blend the two pictures together, and yeah I can't do that.

Damn! Waste of $25, though at least I have the pride of getting it before any yanks.

FYI: one of my mates went to Sanity last night and pre-ordered it, and the guy just went out back and got it for him. Lucky prick.

Chu 04-29-2006 01:47 AM

Looks like it's out here then.

I'll make a trip to town for it soon.

Any reviews available yet? Although, with most Tool, I'll assume one's interpretation could be different to another's, so a review might not do justice.

I don't think anyone is able to review it now. This will take weeks to sink in, people will change their opinions of it in time. Albums do that, for example I reviewed Sideshow Symphonies by Arcturus and ranted on about how much of a disappointment it is, thinking the band was confused and were getting crap, now I think it's their second best effort and I listen to it constantly.

Voyage34 04-29-2006 06:03 AM

My copy of it arrived today :) (Though I had also downloaded it beforehand)

I haven't listened to it a lot yet so it hasn't really sunk in enough for me to give a good opinion on it, other than from initial impressions it is good.

The artwork is awesome though, the booklet is really impressive when you manage to get the glasses in focus on the images.

Am I the only person who never saw the point in rearranged tracklistings?

Werny 04-29-2006 06:14 AM
Am I the only person who never saw the point in rearranged tracklistings?
Probably. Some people don't like the way the tracks are ordered on the album, perhaps? I found the alternate order for Lateralus much better.

repcak 04-29-2006 06:58 AM

i just bought 10,000 days :D the cover, the layout, the idea with the 3d-pictures is great!

every tool fan should buy the album (not only download it) - the artwork is worth it!! its fantastic.

I realise this, but personally I'd rather listen to something how it was structured by the artist. Not to mention, changing song orders dosn't change the tracks in any way, and to be honest, rarely changes any overriding mood the album projects, especially with songs as long as Tool's are. So it all seems like a moot point to me.

Not to mention a little pretentious. :)

deadinholywood 04-29-2006 08:30 AM

Eh i (along with many other aussie mxers it would seem) went off and bought 10,000 days today and to be honest im really not that taken by it at all, Wings Pt 2 is a nice song, as is Right in Two but there is nothing here that blew me away like the first time i heard Aenima/Lateralus. Hoping it grows on me, but at the moment the majority of the album seems well meh. :(
On a positive the art work is really really well done i particularly like the first 3d Alex Grey picture in the booklet.
On a side note i also picked up "what the bleep do we know" on DVD today and suggest that people with an interest in quantum physics or alternative thinking check it out.

Magicaltroll 04-29-2006 10:14 AM
I also noticed the section in Jambi that sounds like it's lifted right out of... any song from Nothing by Meshuggah
Yeah...
I noticed that too.

Lame.

Duman 04-29-2006 10:48 AM

Went to the store today and they had the album a few days early so I bought it and completed my challenge of not listening to the leaked versions :) I'm proud of myself :p I'm listening now.. Vicarious kicks some true ***.

Toaster 04-29-2006 11:46 AM

Will every album have that sort of 3d packaging, or is it a limited edition thing?

Dr. Jake Destructo 04-29-2006 12:15 PM

I'm going to guess and hope that all versions will have the 3D packaging.

repcak 04-29-2006 12:26 PM

all versions have this 3d thing!!

am i the only one who really enjoys and like 10,000 days?
the only songs i didn't like, when i listened to them for the first time were the songs 3 and 4 (the two wings parts). but after listening to the record for the second time, the wing part 2 (4th song) grows on me and i really liked it.
on one of the last songs they use for the first time electronic sounds - it sounds awesome; i reall like it!

10,000 is great, fantastic, another masterpiece... thoug i was hoping (because of the influence of meshuggah) that it would be harder and heavier than lateralus... but its inbetween of aenima and lateralus; well i don't mind - i love it :D

Rothmans 04-29-2006 12:54 PM

I just got the proper Tool cd the artwork is amazing its strange aswell and the mirror things just make some of the artwork better its really great.

Danish 04-29-2006 01:10 PM

I'm about halfway through my first listen. This album is incredible.

gmoneyguy 04-29-2006 04:14 PM

Funny thing is some of my friends who are bigger Tool fans than me don't really like the new album.

Insipid2000 04-29-2006 09:08 PM

You have to let it grow on you, it has grown on me fast.

gmoneyguy 04-29-2006 09:11 PM
You have to let it grow on you, it has grown on me fast.
It grew on me instantly. Ya thats what I told them

Insipid2000 04-29-2006 09:19 PM

Do you think when maynard sang in the pot that he sounded like James Blunt at the start before the music comes in?

gmoneyguy 04-29-2006 09:21 PM
Do you think when maynard sang in the pot that he sounded like James Blunt at the start before the music comes in?
I've really listened to James Blunt, but I did notice it was higher then he normally sings.
